Day 9: You Have a Voice
Intention
God has prepared the way for people to come to Him, and now your voice is what’s needed to introduce the world to Jesus.
Scripture
“What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it?”
—Isaiah 5:4“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place. What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet.”
—Psalm 8:1-6“Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.’”
—John 3:5
Reflection
I regularly find myself outside on my back deck staring up into the sky, marvelling at the heavens. I think of the billions of people across the earth that can see these same stars and planets that testify to the glory of God.
Did you know that people aren’t just searching for God in the heavens? They’re searching online too. More than ever, people are looking for answers about this world outside of this world. According to the University of Copenhagen, since the coronavirus pandemic broke, searches for the word ‘prayer’ are at the highest rate ever recorded.
The reality is, God has done all the necessary work for the world to be able to come to Him—but they need to be introduced to Him! If you know Jesus, then you have the answer to this world’s questions. But how will they hear unless they are told?
When Nicodemus came to Jesus with His questions, Jesus told him that he needed to be born again. This is the only way to get into God’s Kingdom, according to Jesus. We can all help the Nicodemuses of this world today by telling them that they can be born again! All they need to do is receive Jesus.
That is why we have started the Hope Story Challenge. This is a movement to see every believer share their 60-second testimony online. The world is desperate for God and desperate for hope, and we can give them hope right where they are searching: on the internet! Already we have reached over 100,000 people on social media. We have seen three people come to faith in Jesus since starting the Hope Story Challenge, and we believe that there will be many more. Please join us in prayer and in action.
Here is how you can take part:
1. Pray for more Hope Stories. Ask God to raise up people with large and small followings, people with radical and “normal” testimonies, people from every nation and ethnic group. Pray that people would come to Christ as they hear these stories.
2. Share your #HopeStory today. Find out more about how to do this at hopestorychallenge.com.
Prayer
God, thank You that You have prepared the way for people to come back to You. Please give me the courage to share You with the world, in person and online. Please raise up others to do the same. Send workers into Your harvest field. Please take these testimonies of Christ and penetrate the hearts and minds of those searching online for purpose and meaning. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
