Speak Up for Calvary Hospital — Submit Your Support for an Inquiry
Take a Stand for Our Religious Freedom
It’s a grave time for religious freedom in Australia. In the Australian Capital Territory, the Labor-Greens Coalition passed legislation to forcibly acquire Calvary Hospital, which took effect on July 3.
The government considered Calvary Hospital “problematic” as it was Catholic-owned and pro-life on the issues of abortion and euthanasia.
Hence, the government removed this institution because it disliked its Judeo-Christian values. The acting leader of the opposition, Jeremy Hanson, called it “outrageous thuggery” and that it’s “impossible not to conclude that there is an element that involves an attack on faith”.
Historically, totalitarian regimes have been the main culprits of the seizure of church properties and services. Tragically, we’re now seeing it in Australia. That is why we have created an easy way for you to voice your concern and support an inquiry. Click the button below to make a submission:
Like all states and territories, the ACT has a land act that lays out the conditions under which a government may compulsorily acquire a property. The ACT Government deliberately ignored this established law.
Andrew Podger, a professor of public policy at the Australian National University, said in no uncertain terms, “What I am certain of is that the process has been appalling.” The process was without any inquiry or anything resembling proper consultation with Calvary’s board, staff, or the Catholic Church.
John Howard called the ACT Government’s forced acquisition “about as blatant an assault on the principle of private ownership that I’ve seen in this country for many, many years.”
The implications of this are obvious. If Calvary Hospital can be forcibly taken over and acquired by a government because it dislikes its Judeo-Christian values, whose private property could be next? Christian schools. Aged care facilities. Churches or anyone who has a different opinion to the government of the day.
Astonishingly, Anthony Albanese supported the takeover. This once again highlights the shocking lack of religious freedom in Australia. The need for the work of the Canberra Declaration is greater than ever.
It’s critical that there is a broad and strong message sent to Canberra. Australians must let the Federal Government know that this “outrageous thuggery” will not go unnoticed and unchallenged. We must speak up!

The Federal Government can intervene in this situation. Under section 122 of the Australian Constitution, the Federal Parliament “may make laws for the government of any territory”.
We must take action now to ask our Federal MPs and Senators to intervene in this situation. This will send a strong message that we care about religious freedom and that we refuse to have our Christian institutions destroyed by a power-hungry government.
The Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Amendment Bill 2023 proposes an ACT inquiry into the forced acquisition. Its proposal is very simple:
The Government of the Territory must conduct an inquiry into the Health Infrastructure Enabling Act 2023 (ACT), reporting before 30 June 2024.
We have created an easy way for you to make a submission in support of the Bill.
Please use your voice and email a submission to the Senate Committee! A copy will be sent to the Prime Minister and your Federal MPs and Senators to ask them to support this Bill too.
We have provided a carefully-worded email as a starting place for you. It will only take a couple of minutes to send, but the effects can be far-reaching.
Submissions close on 17 July 2023.
Let’s take a stand for religious freedom and Christian healthcare!

The Church is wimpy, and it's destroying the nation. That's the blunt assessment of Rev. Chris Wickland, a UK clergyman who refuses to soften the gospel for perceived cultural acceptance. And he has a point. From the rise of "woke" institutional Christianity to the abdication of prophetic witness, the modern Church has traded its backbone for a desperate attempt to attain a disappearing seat at the table.

Questions on the environment produced the most lopsided results of any category tested, with every single model favouring climate concerns over growth. Removing one model’s “safety” layer moved its religion score from secular-leaning to neutral.

We're told that progressive politics equals compassion, inclusion and kindness. But shocking reactions to Ann Widdecombe's murder — celebrating her death and hoping she died in extreme pain — reveal the socialist left's blatant 'hate speech' hypocrisy and disturbing double standards of the highest degree.

Warwick and Sam, this is a most important post, I commend you most heartily. I must say that the technology you have put up to make this the most easy operation to submit a letter is wonderful. I would urge everyone to do this, It is the only way to keep our own conscience alive and well in these days. If the ‘powers that be’ take notice, that’s a bonus! God notices!
