Southern Cross Alliance for Israel Releases a Statement Condemning Hamas Massacres & Supporting Israel
The Southern Cross Alliance for Israel (SCAFI)*, together with those organisations listed in the schedule below, utterly condemns and denounces the terrorist attacks on Israel from Gaza commencing on 7 October 2023. Hundreds of heavily armed terrorists conducted brutal, horrific abuses, massacres, and abductions of unarmed civilians — women, children, and elderly people in over 20 villages and communities. They murdered many hundreds in the streets and in their homes, and maimed thousands. They are publicly abusing, humiliating and murdering abducted children and women in Gaza.
Such an obscene display of hatred and evil must be unequivocally denounced and eradicated. Israel has every right to take all measures necessary to defend itself and to defeat the terrorist forces responsible for this atrocity.
We call on the entire civilised world to condemn Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and to unequivocally renounce nations, organisations, factions, and individuals who openly or tacitly support, or seek to justify their barbaric tactics.
We are deeply concerned that there are segments within the Australian community celebrating these murders or seeking to justify them. This conduct amounts to incitement to violence and will place the Australian Jewish community at risk.
We call on the Australian government to immediately stop financial support of the illegitimate and corrupt regimes governing the Palestinian Arab population in the region. This misguided aid funds corruption and terrorism, including that which we have seen this week.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Israel and its brave soldiers who are risking their lives to provide security and stability for Israeli citizens. We extend our condolences to those who are mourning, pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, and for the speedy redemption of those kidnapped.
Yours Sincerely,
John Lockwood

Australia still has a blasphemy law architecture that goes by a new name — namely, our vilification and anti-discrimination framework. These laws have striking parallels to Australia’s old blasphemy laws, with the exception that they serve a new god and are more readily enforced than the old ones.

I fell for the idea that I could make myself to be female. I took cross-sex hormones, had numerous surgeries and identified as female. I came to realise that none of it changed my male body — with it's 30 trillion cells with XY chromosomes — into a biological female.

In responding to the thought-provoking article presented here, it’s crucial to address a nuanced issue that concerns many devout Christians: the rise of movements like the Hebrew Roots and the Sacred Name Movement. While the intentions behind recognizing the Hebraic roots of Christianity might stem from a desire for deeper understanding, we must approach this topic with both scriptural insight and spiritual discernment to avoid drifting into theological quicksand.
The crux of Christianity is the belief in Christ’s ultimate sacrifice that fulfilled the Old Covenant’s requirements, emblematic of laws and rituals, establishing a New Covenant based on grace (Hebrews 8:13). The Apostle Paul, a former Pharisee, warned against returning to these old ways and forms of legalism in his epistles. For instance, in Galatians 2:21, he writes, “I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” Essentially, enforcing Mosaic practices on believers undermines the profound truth of salvation through faith alone.
Additionally, Colossians 2:16-17 teaches, “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” This passage cautions against the imposition of ceremonial laws from Hebraic traditions upon Christians, reminding believers that these were but a shadow of the good things to come, fulfilled in Jesus.
The journey of faith is one that celebrates and learns from its roots but must always proceed forward. Emphasizing a return to Jewish customs or rites erodes the foundation of the Gospel, leading potentially to a works-based mentality of salvation, which is diametrically opposed to the doctrine of grace.
In conclusion, while we affirm our spiritual heritage and vehemently stand against any form of antisemitism, it is pivotal to remember where our redemption truly lies. We are called to guard against any teachings or practices that compromise the simplicity and sufficiency of Christ’s atonement. As believers aiming for unity and spiritual integrity, we should continually ask ourselves this question: “Isn’t the Gospel of Jesus enough?” Or do we find ourselves thinking, “Yes, but..”? This introspection is not about diminishing our rich history but about upholding the pure, transformative power of the Gospel that continues to change lives today.
Israel – God’s precious country.
We are praying with you in your terrible heartache, and deplore the horror unleashed against Israel.
May our Sovereign Lord act on Israel’s behalf, and encourage & comfort each of you in His own loving ways.
There are many Australians supporting your beloved country Israel.
Thank you. I thoroughly agree with your statement too and am grieved by the shocking terrorist attack against the nation of Israel that took place on 7th October.
