The Katechon

“Let no man deceive you… for the day shall not come except there comes first a falling away and the son of perdition be revealed… You know what restrains him (katechon – neuter) so that he might be revealed in his time.
The mystery of iniquity is already working (and) he who hinders/restrains (katechon – masculine singular) will continue to hinder until he be taken out of the way.”
~ 2 Thess. 2:3, 6-7

Recent events in the West have caused many Christians to engage in end-time thinking, the return of Jesus, in particular.

St Paul is adamant: this will not happen prior to ‘the wicked one’ being revealed; and this will not happen until the ‘thing restraining him’ (the katechon) is taken away.

So, what is the katechon? The question arises because Paul uses the neuter term in verse 6, and the masculine singular form in verse 7.

Archbishop Viganò, in his recent letter to President Trump, has no doubt that the neuter katechon is the Roman Church, and the masculine singular form is Pope Benedict.

Benedict was ‘taken out of the way’; and on the sidelines, being distressed by the actions of his successor, he is trying to assert that, though he is no longer the Bishop of Rome, he is still the Vicar of Christ and still able to provide spiritual support for temporal leaders.

Viganò, as Benedict’s righthand man, is sending letters to Donald Trump exhorting him to hold the line against the globalist onslaught, telling him that the ‘true church’ is still in place despite appearances, and standing with leaders who promote a genuine Christian worldview.

This brings us to the point that the current battle is specifically located in Western countries where the Roman Church has always seen itself having a responsibility to promote good government.

This view began with Constantine, but more particularly with the Holy Roman Empire under Charlemagne in AD 800. During their lifetime, Emperors ruled absolutely, but their initial appointment required that they ‘kiss the Pope’s stirrup’!

Depravity in the West

Archbishop Viganò has no doubt about the source and objective behind the current move
away from traditional Christian values in Western countries. In his recent letter to Donald
Trump, he says:

“A global plan called the Great Reset is underway. Its architect is a global élite that wants to subdue all of humanity, imposing coercive measures with which to drastically limit individual freedoms and those of entire populations. In several nations this plan has already been approved and financed*; in others it is still in an early stage.

Behind the world leaders who are the accomplices and executors of this infernal project, there are unscrupulous characters who finance the World Economic Forum and Event 201,
promoting their agenda.

The purpose of the Great Reset is the imposition of a health dictatorship aiming at the imposition of liberticidal measures, hidden behind tempting promises of ensuring a universal income and cancelling of individual debt.

The price of these concessions from the International Monetary Fund will be the renunciation of private property and adherence to a program of vaccination against Covid-19 and Covid-21 promoted by Bill Gates with the collaboration of the main pharmaceutical groups.

Beyond the enormous economic interests that motivate the promoters of the Great Reset, the imposition of the vaccination will be accompanied by the requirement of a health passport and a digital ID, with the consequent contact tracing of the population of the entire world. Those who do not accept these measures will be confined in detention camps or placed under house arrest, and all their assets will be confiscated.”

Looking around the world, we see that France, Italy and Spain are fully re-set.

In the Americas, Venezuela is re-set and Canada is well on the way. The USA appears to be fatally fractured regardless of who wins the election, but historian Victor David Hansen is optimistic.

Russia seems to be immune to the problem. Having seen the danger, Putin has built strong ties with the Orthodox Church. Smart man, Putin!

The Muslim world seems to be outside of the interest of the elite, but I would not bet on it! Who has been encouraging the Muslims to settle in Europe during the past several years?

The quiet achievers are the South Sea Island countries that are pressing on with their project of establishing a social order based on Kingdom Principles.

What about Australia?

Despite our prayers and rearguard lobbying actions, the Reset is moving relentlessly forward in every Australian State Parliament regardless of which Party is in power.

The katechon is either gone or weakened beyond repair.

Decriminalising abortion used to be an exclusively a neo-Marxist Labor initiative. Last year a Liberal Government in NSW introduced and passed a full-term abortion law, and a similar bill was introduced last month into the South Australian Parliament by the Liberal Attorney General.

The recent Queensland election demonstrated that Christians no longer have a reasonable choice. It was either elect a neo-Marxist Labor Party or an incompetent LNP with watered down values.

The Labor Government was elected with an increased majority; the extreme abortion law will remain, and a bill decriminalising euthanasia will be amongst the first bills introduced into parliament.

The hope for many is that Scott Morrison will remain a katechon at national level; but it is worrying that he is playing the globalist game in dealing with COVID-19.

This might be a political strategy; the test will come when the Bill Gates vaccine appears. Will we all be forced to take it, or else?

What happened to the Australian Church?

It is only two generations since Australia was designated a Christian country.

One of my sons read a report I wrote of my upbringing in South Australia in the 1930-40s, and said: “Dad, you lived in a bubble.”

I said, “No, the vast majority of Australians lived that way”. He did not believe me, but it is true, nevertheless. I was there!

Bob Santamaria and Archbishop Mannix pushed back the Communist invasion of the Labor Party in the 1940-50s, but this led to the Gramsci neo-Marxist attack on Western civilisation in the 1960s.

The Marxists have had a clear agenda, sound organisation, and people fanatically dedicated to their cause. Their initial strategy was to take control of the media, the tertiary educational institutions and the public schooling system. They did so with barely a whimper from the churches.

The Sin of Moab

In the period 1960-1980, the church in Australia was supported by innumerable evangelical crusades, TV evangelists, an outpouring of Christian literature and DVDs, Vatican II and, above all, by the Charismatic Movement.

Not all of this was welcomed. Vatican II is hotly contested in the Roman Church.

My view is that the declaration of the Apostolate of the Laity was the spring board for the Charismatic Movement in the 1960-80s.

The Charismatic Movement disappeared in Australia when ministers in the older churches denominationalised it. A newfound unity disintegrated. Barry Chant brought the word in 1979 — Judges 21:24-25.

The majority of evangelicals rejected the charismata on their old ground: ‘We do not need the Holy Spirit now that we have the Bible.’ (Was this blasphemy against the Holy Ghost?)

The result was that most churches hung grimly to their status quo when God was calling for us to be ‘poured off our lees’!

Lees are the sediment of dead yeast cells and other matter that accumulate in wine bottles. The good wine needs to be poured off to render it suitable for drinking.

Jeremiah refers to this when speaking of Moab (Jer.48:11). ‘Moab’, says Jeremiah, is a ‘people who have been at their ease since their youth and are settled on their lees’, i.e. their accumulated social rubbish. ‘Their taste remains in them and their scent is not changed’!

Isaiah speaks the same word in Isaiah 16. ‘The Lord’, says Isaiah, ‘offered Moab His presence and His government in the Tabernacle of David, but Moab was too proud and too indifferent to accept the offer.’ (Is.16:5-6 — paraphrase)

The result was that the blessing of God was withdrawn from Moab and within three years Moab became weak and feeble. (v.14)

The Principle Applied

The need for the people of God to be poured off their lees is not just an interesting Bible story; it is a spiritual principle.

Judy and I had a firsthand experience of this at a Mission School that we were connected with in the late 1980s.

The School used to hold traditional church meetings on Sunday mornings, but at night a few of us would gather for a relaxed time of worship and prayer.

It soon became clear that the Lord was keen for us to adopt a tabernacle of David style of worship that would allow Him to participate.

When the leadership heard that this was happening, they discouraged the students from attending!

Over the next week, eight people, who did not attend the night meetings, were instructed by the Holy Spirit to bring the Isaiah 16 word to the leadership’s attention.

This word was ignored; and, yes, in three years the School became weak and feeble, and remains so today.

Is this what happened to the churches that rejected Tabernacle of David worship in the 1970s?

God’s Army

Allison Keen is right! It is God’s plans that count, not ours.

But what is God’s plan?

In the 1970s, under instructions from the Holy Spirit, some of us were poured off our lees.

In my case, this meant resigning from the Methodist Church that I had attended from birth. The reader can judge for themselves whether this was a good move in my life.

In the years 1976 to 1998, most of my effort was focused on Africa.

It was only when Judy and I returned from South Africa in 1998 that we began to focus on spiritual happenings in Australia again.

This began in earnest in 2001 when I was sovereignly summoned by the Lord to attend the Praise Corroboree held in the Great Hall in Canberra that year.

When I asked the Lord what the meeting was about, He said: “John, I am setting up My Government over Australia.”

He further informed us that the current task for believers in Australia is to work with the Holy Spirit to get rid of the territorial demons off His land.

We have two strategies available to us for this project: (1) high praise which binds the powers of the air ; and (2) linking with the Captain of the Host (Joshua 5:14) to cast strategic demons off the planet.

From 2002 to 2015, my friend and co-worker Gerald Ramsey and I spent fourteen years (two sabbaticals) being led by the Holy Spirit to battle with territorial demons in the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia.

A Rainbow Serpent demon at Dawesly near Mount Barker was ordered underground in 2006.

In 2013 we were instructed to cast a rudimentary demon located at Wirrina Cove off the planet. This demon was of the Hidden One type.

In 2015 we were instructed to order a Jezebelian-type demon located at Goolwa off the planet. This demon was especially damaging for Caucasian marriages.

The Immediate Future

In 2002, the Lord told me He had His army in place in Australia. And as far as I know, they are still in place.

So, despite everything, I remain encouraged.

Glory Hallelujah! God is on the throne, and some of us are enjoying His presence and seeing the reward of our obedience to the instructions of the Holy Ghost.

The land of Australia is being released of demonic influence and handed back to the owner. (Ps.24:1)

A Final Note

If God has taken away the katechon so the man of sin can appear, we can guarantee that it will happen despite our best efforts in prayer and action to prevent it.

With regard to life in the abyss, our place of rest is that St Paul has assured us that the wicked one will be consumed by the breath of the Lord’s mouth and destroyed by the brightness of His coming. (II Thess. 2:8)

If Vigano is correct, we Christians may have to forget about participating in government support systems for a time, but those of us that have spent time ‘living on the manna’ will have no problems with that.

Best of all, the Lord is presently speaking to us in the secret place, hiding us and His work under the shadow of His wings!

His sovereign work will continue unhindered — tribulation or no tribulation!

Forward, brethren!

Thank you John for the clarity with which you interpret our current situation in Australia.
I relate to your story in many ways having also been raised in a Methodist home and community.
After reading this article I wanted to know more about John Potter and was delisted to find your “ What are we defending “ on Canberra Declaration site
Thank God for the Holy Spirit that guides and directs as we head into these coming days.
