BEWARE: ABC’s Behind the News Is “Educating” Your Kids with Radical Queer Ideology

If you think the ABC is still essentially unbiased, look at what they’re showing your kids. The ABC’s Behind the News youth program is actively promoting LGBTQ ideology.

I sometimes wonder if things really are as bad as I think they are. Maybe culture hasn’t really shifted all that far away from our Christian roots.

And then I watch the ABC and my doubts evaporate.

In a recent episode of Behind the News, an ABC-run television show aimed at kids ages 8-13, the LGBTQ activist producer Jack Evans decided to interview an ambassador for the event “Wear It Purple Day”. I must confess that I didn’t know what Wear It Purple Day was until watching this video.

According to Evans, the day is “all about empowering and showing support for young LGBTQIA+ people”. Thirteen-year-old George Ray, an ambassador for the event, sees it as having two purposes: firstly, to “recognise” and “celebrate the LGBTQ community” and, secondly, to “educate people” on “what sexuality and gender identity is”.

Notably, the BTN video did not interview any students or experts who raise concerns about Wear It Purple Day.

Presumably, this is because affirmation is seen as the only way to prevent bullying and lower suicide rates among the LGBTQ community. Hence, it has become an issue of life and death — alternative perspectives cannot be tolerated.

Criticism and Controversy of the Event

Since its launch in 2010, Wear It Purple Day has had its fair share of controversies, including significant backlash from parents, clergy and academics. After the Wear It Purple Day website was launched, it was blocked by the government filter on Department of Education and Training computers.

In 2020, NSW MLC Hon. Mark Latham exposed the fact that the NSW Department of Education teachers’ portal was providing sexually inappropriate material and advice. The uploads were later removed and the department claimed that they were added without permission.

The ABC’s Coverage of LGBTQ Issues

But should we expect anything else from the ABC?

For a long time, now, the ABC has been unashamed in its promotion of non-Christian views of gender and sexuality. Most notably, it was named a “golden employer” at the 2021 Australian LGBTQ Inclusion Awards for the third time.

It was also rewarded for “substantially increasing the visibility of people of diverse sexualities and genders”. Hence, BTN’s coverage of Wear It Purple Day.

The ABC’s managing director David Anderson said that “Diversity, inclusion and acceptance” were “at the heart of everything” the ABC did.  For the ABC, this goes beyond just “inclusion” to promoting “acceptance among staff, including mentoring programs and gender transition leave.”

“We support our people, no matter who they are or who they love,” Anderson stated.

The ABC was also rewarded for its initiative “ABCQueer”, an Instagram account that attempts to normalise and promote queer sexual behaviour and promotes masturbation.

Alternatives: WORLD Watch

If (like me) you are sick and tired of the unrelenting flow of propaganda the ABC is producing (for kids and adults alike), there are serious alternatives. Kurt Mahlburg has put together a list of independent news alternatives that he recommends.

One program to think about as a direct alternative to Behind the News (or if you’re into TV rather than reading the news) is WORLD Watch News.

WORLD Watch is a part of the WORLD News Group, which runs the Biblically-based, journalistically rigorous (even Wikipedia admits it) WORLD Magazine and the World Journalism Institute. You can find daily select news stories (similar to BTN) on WORLD Watch’s YouTube Channel.

Here’s an example of what to expect on WORLD Watch, here is their coverage of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

The only real downside is that WORLD content can tend to be US-centric; however, that is a small price to pay to avoid (or at least have your kids and grandchildren avoid) the kind of ideological propaganda our national broadcaster produces here.

It’s something to think about. We need to start fighting back. One way we can do that is by exercising our right to not consume this kind of content.

Thankfully, there are serious news alternatives.

    PS.
My revelation was personal. What remains is a generalised nausea regarding the infiltration of our societal sanctioning of child sexual assault.
How have we let this happen ?
