Albanese’s Deflection to Protect the “Mean Girls” of Parliament
Australian women demand accountability as Prime Minister Albanese shields senior ministers accused of politically targeting Senator Reynolds, raising serious questions about leadership, integrity, and women’s safety in Parliament.
Prime Minister Albanese, I write as an Australian woman. At a press conference on November 20, live on TV, you were questioned about the conduct of senior ministers, Senators Katy Gallagher and Penny Wong—dubbed the Parliament’s “mean girls”.
These self-proclaimed champions of women’s rights stand accused of orchestrating a political smear campaign aimed at damaging the Morrison government by relentlessly targeting Senator Linda Reynolds, who was hospitalised during the ordeal and was fortunate to survive the stress.
A reporter highlighted judicial findings by Federal Court Justice Michael Lee and Western Australian Supreme Court Justice Paul Tottle, who ruled that Brittany Higgins‘ claims of a political cover-up were not only false but “dishonest” and “sensational”. How ironic that two judges could see right through Brittany, but your “mean girls” were seemingly oblivious, not very intelligent!
The question to the Prime Minister was straightforward: Should Senators Gallagher and Wong—who “led the charge” in Senate estimates by fiercely interrogating Senator Reynolds over the alleged cover-up—now apologise for the damage inflicted? Careers were shattered, reputations tarnished, and taxpayers were left to foot a multimillion-dollar bill.
Dodging and Weaving
Rather than address the findings of two judges, or acknowledge that the conduct of these senior ministers would be unacceptable in any workplace—let alone Parliament—Albanese dismissed the seriousness of the matter.
Instead, the Prime Minister responded curtly: “That’s not right. I don’t accept that characterisation.”
He then attempted to deflect: “A judge found that on the basis of probability, a rape occurred.“
Interrupted briefly, he doubled down: “Hang on, hang on. A rape occurred… that is what a judge found on the balance of probability in a ministerial office in Parliament House. I think that’s a pretty big issue.”
Prime Minister Albanese, are you serious? This raises serious questions about your fitness to be in Parliament, let alone be Prime Minister.
Australian women will not be spoken to with such impunity or belittlement.
Justice Lee delivered his judgment on 15 April 2024.
The intense and often personal attacks on Senator Reynolds by your ministers took place in 2022—and your government authorised a $2.4 million payout more than two years before any court finding.
The payout was entirely detached and unassociated from any judicial conclusions. It occurred long before any such judgment existed. Why, then, imply otherwise? Why do you treat Australian women with such contempt?
Betrayal
Every Australian woman is aware that Wong and Gallagher, using Senate privilege, grilled Reynolds repeatedly and aggressively, hinting at a Liberal-orchestrated cover-up. Their questioning appeared performative—geared towards the 2022 election cycle—and it came at enormous personal and financial cost.
It is well past time for you, Prime Minister, to acknowledge that the judge’s findings had zero bearing on the ALP’s 2022 payout and to insist that your senior ministers apologise publicly. This is a serious matter of public trust.
Your refusal to answer genuine questions, coupled with evasive and misleading comments, is deeply concerning. Many now view your response as hypocritical, indifferent, and dismissive of women’s experiences. Far from demonstrating empathy or integrity, your comments appear to whitewash the conduct of your own ministers—a warning sign to women across Australia.
By shielding your “mean girls”, you have effectively condoned their behaviour. Will other Labor women in Parliament stand up and reject your comments? Will they say, “Not under our watch—this does not represent us”? Senator Walker, as a young 21-year-old senator, do you support the Prime Minister’s remarks?
Wong and Gallagher, often presented as defenders of women’s rights, showed no empathy, regret, or remorse. Their advocacy is clearly disingenuous, a mirage reserved only for women who align with their political ideology, a betrayal of genuine women’s rights.
Their behaviour toward Senator Reynolds was unethical, underhanded, and despicable, echoing the late Senator Kimberley Kitching’s warnings about the “mean girls” bullying culture. Kitching died in 2022 amid allegations of harassment from within Labor ranks; allegations corroborated by former Labor leader Bill Shorten.
Ladies of Australia, under Albanese’s leadership, women in Parliament appear not to be treated equally but rather according to political usefulness.
Weaponised Trauma
Many Australians now see Wong and Gallagher not as champions of women, but as ruthless political operatives who weaponised trauma for advantage. As some posted on X, “They are the ones who should swing here,” not for helping Higgins but weaponising her story for political gain to damage the Coalition. Are women in Parliament safe while “the mean girls” are there?
The Prime Minister’s role in this saga has been a bitter disappointment. Instead of leadership, we witnessed a determined effort to shield his ministers from accountability.
PM, if the situation were reversed and it was your partner, Jodie Haydon, who was subjected to baseless allegations and political exploitation and vile abuse: what would you demand, Prime Minister?
The principle remains: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Justice is not negotiable.
Women around Australia now look to Senator Reynolds’ new proceedings against the ALP, hoping and praying they will deliver justice and reveal what these “mean girls” have done, masquerading as advocates while acting as bullies. We will follow this very closely. It means everything for women around the nation.
As for you, Prime Minister Albanese, the emerging legacy is of a leader who defended, protected, and excused women whose reprehensible conduct pushed a decent public servant, one who served her country in the Navy and in Parliament, to the brink.
It is a reflection of who you really are, your moral compass, your integrity and leadership: you are a failure. This matter is above and beyond politics; it is about women’s rights in the workplace, and this is the standard you have set as our Prime Minister.
The ALP’s works of darkness cannot remain hidden forever. As Scripture reminds us, God will expose all things. And so may justice, at last, prevail.

If you’re a parent or a grandparent, you probably worry about what your child or grandchild is learning at school. In the first of its kind in Australia, a survey has been launched to measure parent attitudes to Respectful Relationship sessions in schools.

“It was then revealed she referred to Ms Higgins as a “lying cow” in her private parliamentary office, prompting a witness to report the matter and later leak it to the press. She insisted she was not referring to the rape allegations. Amid intense questions in parliament she struggled to answer questions and then took extended medical leave before moving portfolios.”
Reynolds isn’t as squeaky clean in all that ordeal. What was her treatment in hospital?
“Senator Linda Reynolds, who was hospitalised during the ordeal and was fortunate to survive the stres” how so was she lucky to survive the stress! I think being a politician would create great stress every day, if she is so fragile then why is she a politician? I think calling a RAPE victim a “Lying Cow” qualifies her as a bit of a mean girl too doesn’t it! Not exactly a nice thing to call anyone let alone a rape victim. So how does poor fragile Reynolds respond now, not wanting of course to create herself anymore stress, mmmm she goes for blood in the courts suing Higgins and hounding her relentlessly. Lucky to survive her stress ordeal. She did the usual rabbit maneuver to dodge any further scrutiny and questioning and admitted herself to hospital. Oh how many times do we see this with politicians and sports people and celebrities. When the going gets tough run and hide.
So we see a Rape victim treated like a liar and the person who calls her a Lying Cow become the victim. Nice.
All part of the flipping of society.
