Day 16: Christ — Our Righteousness and Our Transformation
Intention
To understand that God’s perfect righteousness is a gift to all who believe in Jesus Christ, and that through him we are transformed to reveal God’s righteousness to the world.
Scripture
“Sow for yourselves righteousness;
Reap in mercy;
Break up your fallow ground,
For it is time to seek the Lord,
Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”
– Hosea 10:12
Reflection
From Passover to Pentecost, the God of righteousness calls us on a journey of transformation — to establish his Church as a holy people grounded in his righteousness.
A simple definition of righteousness is doing what is right in the sight of God: obeying his commands with love, maintaining a clear conscience, and living in reverent fear of the Lord. In Hebrew, the word tzedek is translated as both justice and righteousness. It is not limited to legal fairness, but describes a way of life that is morally upright before both God and people.
Yet Scripture reminds us that there is an immeasurable gap between our righteousness and God’s. Isaiah 64:6 (AMP) describes it this way:
“For we have all become like one who is ceremonially unclean (like a leper), and all our deeds of righteousness are like filthy rags; we all wither and decay like a leaf, and our wickedness — our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing — like the wind, carries us away, far from God’s favour, towards destruction.”
Like sheep who have gone astray, we have wandered in our hearts, minds, souls, and bodies. We have been defiled by the bitterness of unforgiveness, the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.
We have fallen into envy, jealousy, strife, division, profanity, idolatry, negativity, adultery and other sexual sin — breaking fellowship with the lover of our souls, just as the world around us has done.
Yet forgiveness is found in Jesus and in his precious blood. Through Christ, the Father declares us righteous — justified before him — as Romans 3:22 and 2 Corinthians 5:21 proclaim:
“The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.”
“He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Through Christ, the Father declares us righteous. But he also calls us to become righteous — transformed into the image of Jesus.
The moral compass pointing to true north is the Word of God and Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life. As we obey his Word, Christ is formed within us. Through this transformation, God’s righteousness becomes visible in the world — expressed through love, compassion, mercy, kindness, gentleness, and forgiveness.
Such righteousness will exalt not only this nation, but any nation that honours God.
When we come before the Father and confess our sins — both hidden sins and the sins we knowingly commit or neglect — the Lord searches our hearts, and like a candle, reveals sin concealed in the darkness.
In doing so, he creates in us a clean heart and renews a right spirit. 1 John 1:9 reminds us that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Further, as we continue to allow the Father’s revealing light to enlighten us, “we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
This gives us confidence to approach the Father in prayer through the Holy Spirit.
Scripture tells us that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ, where the hosts of heaven gather around God’s throne — whose foundations are righteousness and justice (Psalm 89:14). As the praying Church, we are invited to Mount Zion with clean hands and pure hearts (Hebrews 12:22–23).
The voice of the Lord once shook the earth, and he has promised that he will shake not only the earth but also the heavens (Hebrews 12:26).
The Lord is establishing his sure foundation and shaking everything that is not built upon him. His truth reigns, and he is aligning Australia in righteousness among the nations.
With renewed minds, we are able to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33), trusting that all the things that we are praying for and need will be added to us.

Prayer
Father, we put on the full armour of God, including the robe of righteousness. Because of the finished work of the cross and the blood of Jesus, we thank you and declare that we — the Church in Australia — are the righteousness of God in Christ.
May Christ be formed within us so that we reflect your righteousness in our homes, churches, schools, universities, workplaces, businesses, cities, and across the nations. May your righteousness, reflected through your people, exalt our nation and the nations.
Let the extravagant love of the Father flow through your Church, reaching the unreached, the unloved, the marginalised, the homeless, the broken‑hearted, the lonely, the poor and needy, and those who suffer injustice. Let the sick be healed and the blind receive sight.
As those endued with power from on high, may we proclaim the gospel of the kingdom, accompanied by signs, miracles, and wonders (Acts 4:29–30). We ask for a great time of harvest in Australia and the nations.
Amen.
