Patrick Parkinson
Prof. Patrick Parkinson AM is an expert on family law and child protection. From 2004–2007, he was Chairperson of the Family Law Council, an advisory body to the federal government, and also chaired a review of the Child Support system in 2004–2005, which led to the enactment of major changes to the Child Support Scheme. In 2004, he proposed the creation of Family Relationship Centres to Prime Minister John Howard. This proposal was accepted by the government and led to the establishment of these government-funded centres all over the country. Patrick was President of the International Society of Family Law from 2011–2014. He is also well-known for his work concerning child protection, particularly child sexual abuse.
