We Need to ‘Bring God’ Out of Church — Mr. T Explains Why
Actor Mr. T is challenging us to take God with us into every area of our lives.
“I come to talk about God because people need God,” Mr. T said on TBN’s PRAISE.
“Look at the crime in the streets and everything else. Why? Because we left God out. I was just telling Brother Clifton in the back, you know, that’s the problem with the church. We gotta bring God out of the church. Take them to the Cubs game. Take them to the Bears game.”
“I mean, you gotta take God everywhere we go. That’s what I’m saying. Don’t just say imma go to church on Sunday,” he continued.
“God supposed — we are the church. Everywhere we go, we [are] supposed to tell people. Like one of my prayers, I say, ‘Lord, I pray that when they see me, let them see you. I pray that when they hear me, let them hear You.’ So, when I say that, that means I can’t be doing what I used to do.”
Sharing the Gospel
Mr. T has turned his acting career into an evangelical one as he uses his platform to share his faith.
On 18 August, he posted Exodus 20:12 on X. The verse reads, “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”

In an Instagram post, he wrote, “Thank you God for waking me up to another beautiful morning.”

“I think about what I’ve been through, being in this world and whatnot. If I didn’t have God, I wouldn’t be here; I’d be in prison,” Mr. T said.
The 71-year-old is known for his strong and intimidating roles in movies and TV. When controversy comes, his first instinct is to react and “crack heads.” But he shared that his Christian “advantage” is staying calm.
“[God] forgave me, and I should do good to the people who cross me,” Mr. T said in a separate interview.
“They know I can be tough, but they don’t know I could be cool instead. One of my things was to tell the kids in the hood, say remember your ABCs: always be cool,” he told the Crouchs.
Mr. T picked up his old coverless Bible and said, “This is like medicine, you know,” and shared that sometimes all people need to do is take their “medicine.”
“Belief is like an exercise… We build all this stuff up, but how [do] you build up your faith?… Each time you go through something, your belief should get stronger… like lifting weights. Start at two pounds… then get strong and strong, so every time you go into something, your faith builds,” Mr. T said as he enthusiastically pantomimed lifting weights.
