Day 16 – Weep for Your Children
Massive crowds gathered to follow Jesus, including a number of women, who were wailing with sorrow over him. Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me. You should be weeping for yourselves and your children. The day is coming when it will not be the women with children who are blessed but those who are childless. Then you will say, ‘The barren women are the most fortunate! Those who have never given birth and never nursed a child—they are more fortunate than we, for they will never see their children put to death!’
~ Luke 23:27- 29 (TPT)
On the way to the cross, Jesus interacted with the wailing women who were sorrowing over the wounds and afflictions He had already suffered, and now that He was being led to His crucifixion. Jesus’ heart of pure love was revealed again, as He went to the cross, instructing them to weep over themselves, knowing they would one day see their children put to death.
It is still Jesus’s deep love calling us to obey His instruction to weep – may we enter into deep intercession, travailing and weeping over the babies being put to death by legalised abortion. We also weep for our society, women and men who have come under the heavy weight of the burden of what they have agreed to – abortion – Australia’s children put to death.
Today, Jesus says, “You should be weeping for yourselves!” knowing fully the consequences of the innocent being killed — the babies being aborted in our days. The Lord himself is in this intercession with us and for us. Isaiah 42:14 says:
“I have held My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at once.”
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
~ Romans 8:26 (NKJV)
Worship:
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, Holy is Your Name, Holy is Your Son Jesus; thank You for Your forgiveness and mercy! Thank You, that filled with the Holy Spirit, on the way to Your crucifixion, Jesus, You gave women the instruction to weep over themselves because they would see multitudes of their children put to death.
We confess many hearts in our nation, even of Your people, have become cold, and the consciences seared concerning legalised abortion in Australia. Lord, we have not always wept as You told them. Lord, awaken the wailing women and the men in deep travail and intercessory prayer, that touch Your heart of mercy and love for the children being aborted in our days.
Lord, release a spirit of repentance and prevailing prayer, that aligns with Your heart of passion for every unborn child to be blessed to fulfil their days allotted by You. Compassionate God, we lift up those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Comfort them in their pain and bring them peace that surpasses all understanding.
Surround them with Your love and presence, reminding them that You are close to the brokenhearted. Give them strength to face each day and hope for the future. May they find solace in Your promises and the assurance of eternal life in Christ Jesus (Matthew 5:4; Psalm 34:18). Thank You that we are not alone in this intercession, but You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, are interceding on behalf of us and our children. We pray in the redeeming Name of Jesus Christ, Yeshua. Amen.
Prayer Points:
- It is crucial for Australians to stand united and shout out for the Babies Born Alive through failed abortion to be given life-saving treatment and care and not left to die. Pray for the Senate to vote for the Babies Born Alive Bill. Senator Matt Canavan, Senator Ralph Babet and Senator Alex Antic have co-signed a bill to give babies born alive from abortion a right to life. No More Delay! Let this become a loud election issue for this government. Hear firsthand a midwife’s grief and a Born Alive after a failed abortion story.
- Pray the Love Adelaide — Walk for Life 2024 on Feb 10th from 10am-12pm will grow in momentum to double last year — that nothing will hinder the church standing against legalised abortion, to add their strength and support to end the abortion crisis in our nation and beyond. Pray for health for everyone, especially the overseas guest speaker, doors of favour to open, more volunteers for the walk and the weather to be favourable.
- We pray for every state and territory of Australia to recognise that every life is a gift from God — for the church to arise in the cause of defending life in the womb from the horror of abortion and come together to stand for life. For greater numbers to be in attendance at the “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 10 February 2024 and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, “March for the Babies” Melbourne, Love Sydney Walk for Life — date TBA, Perth’s rally for Life in May, and for all Territories and States to join in and hold a Walk for Life in their city/region.
- Even though every state in Australia has changed Legislation to allow abortion up to birth, we can all work together to change such legislation. It’s all about numbers — Pray that we unify and work together to make abortion unthinkable in Australia. Pray for the number of awakened righteous politicians and leaders in every sphere of influence to increase, and be empowered and emboldened to change the laws and influence this generation with the truth about abortion.
- Ask for many more churches across the nation to be aware of the women in their midst who are suffering through having had an abortion. To have spiritual discernment to identify women with a crisis pregnancy who need the help, hope and love of Jesus to keep the baby or choose adoption into a loving home. That every church be a trusted place of mercy and compassion to be known and operating as Houses of Refuge for the unborn and families. For Hubs of Love to be established in every city and town in the nation.
‘And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’
~ Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
May God Bless you as you pray these 21 Days of Compassion and Mercy for the Unborn.
