Day 20 – Let the Children Come
“And they kept bringing young children to Him that He might touch them, and the disciples were reproving them [for it]. But when Jesus saw [it], He was indignant and pained and said to them, Allow the children to come to Me — do not forbid or prevent or hinder them — for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive and accept and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child [does] positively shall not enter it at all. And He took them [the children up one by one] in His arms and [fervently invoked a] blessing, placing His hands upon them.”
~ Mark 10:13-16 (AMPC)
Here, we see the great divide illustrated by Jesus – Cultural values versus Kingdom values. Jesus was always ‘about His Father’s business’ — people were crowding constantly, some in great need. The disciples had their own opinions of what His kingdom would achieve, and they seemed to view this event as time-wasting and a big distraction for Jesus to be laying hands on babies and children and blessing them!
How wrong they were, and Jesus addressed this situation head-on – it pained His heart to see them hindering the children. He even went further to highlight that everyone should prioritise being like the little ones, dependent, trusting, in wide-eyed wonder, with simplicity of heart and receiving the touch of God without fear! Jesus’ words gave everyone a massive wake-up call to align with God’s kingdom ways or miss out completely!
The way our ‘civilised society’ treats children illustrates how close or far from the Kingdom of God we have come. Legalised abortion up to birth in every State and Territory of Australia seemed unthinkable in our past generations — even now, a lot of people would argue that it is not actually true — that it is not even happening!
In reference to the recent Babies Born Alive Senate Inquiry of 2023, the Community Affairs References Committee came to the final decision: they had “no recommendations” to the Australian Federal Parliament for this bill — after hearing multitudes of submissions making it very clear Australian babies surviving the horror of abortion were given no comfort or care, but left to die. Despite overwhelming support for the Babies Born Alive Bill to be passed, giving life-saving and humane assistance to live babies who have survived an attempted abortion, this decision of ‘no recommendations’ is really shocking!
The cultural value of the unborn, of ‘unwanted children’, is sadly, they have no rights and no value, but are seen as a problem to be removed as cost-effectively as possible.
Worship:
Prayer:
Lord, have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord Have mercy. We humble ourselves, pray and seek Your face for our nation’s sin. We confess, Lord, we have done what is evil in Your sight! Lord, thank You for the cross of Calvary where You shed Your innocent blood and took the punishment for the atrocities of our nation and her people.
Holy Spirit, we ask You to convict the consciences of those in power to make decisions for life and, indeed, for everyone to have Your Heart for the unborn. We pray for assistance for those who are powerless right now — show them a way of escape rather than aborting their offspring.
May a spirit of repentance flood our nation so we may turn from our wicked ways and turn back to You. Lord, hear from Heaven and heal our land. Thank You for Your mercy and grace to help us as a nation and as individuals. We say You are worthy to receive all glory, honour, power, and praise in Yeshua’s Name. Amen.
Prayer Points:
- Let us intercede for our government leaders and nations. Grant them wisdom, integrity, and a heart for justice. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in the governing systems of the world. Raise up righteous leaders who will govern with compassion and righteousness (1 Timothy 2:1-2; Proverbs 29:2).
- It is crucial for Australians to stand united and shout out for the Babies Born Alive through failed abortion to be given life-saving treatment and care and not left to die. Pray for the Senate to vote for the Babies Born Alive Bill. Senator Matt Canavan, Senator Ralph Babet and Senator Alex Antic have co-signed a bill to give babies born alive from abortion a right to life. No More Delay! Let this become a loud election issue for this government. Hear firsthand a midwife’s grief and a Born Alive after a failed abortion story.
- Pray the Love Adelaide — Walk for Life 2024 on Feb 10th from 10am-12pm will grow in momentum to double last year — that nothing will hinder the church standing against legalised abortion, to add their strength and support to end the abortion crisis in our nation and beyond. Pray for health for everyone, especially the overseas guest speaker, doors of favour to open, more volunteers for the walk and the weather to be favourable.
- We pray for every state and territory of Australia to recognise that every life is a gift from God — for the church to arise in the cause of defending life in the womb from the horror of abortion and come together to stand for life. For greater numbers to be in attendance at the “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 10 February 2024 and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, “March for the Babies” Melbourne, Love Sydney Walk for Life — date TBA, Perth’s rally for Life in May, and for all Territories and States to join in and hold a Walk for Life in their city/region.
- Even though every state in Australia has changed Legislation to allow abortion up to birth, we can all work together to change such legislation. It’s all about numbers — Pray that we unify and work together to make abortion unthinkable in Australia. Pray for the number of awakened righteous politicians and leaders in every sphere of influence to increase, and be empowered and emboldened to change the laws and influence this generation with the truth about abortion.
- Ask for many more churches across the nation to be aware of the women in their midst who are suffering through having had an abortion. To have spiritual discernment to identify women with a crisis pregnancy who need the help, hope and love of Jesus to keep the baby or choose adoption into a loving home. That every church be a trusted place of mercy and compassion to be known and operating as Houses of Refuge for the unborn and families. For Hubs of Love to be established in every city and town in the nation.
‘And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’
~ Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
May God Bless you as you pray these 21 Days of Compassion and Mercy for the Unborn.
