Abundant Life

Day 6: The Promise of Abundant Life

23 January 2026

4 MINS

Intention

To choose Jesus’ abundant life and share that life with others.

Scripture

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.
My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

– John 10:10

“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

– John 1:4–5

Reflection

Jesus promises us abundant life. However, we often forget that it is Jesus himself who is the source and flow of this abundant life. It is at his feet, in his presence, leaning on his chest and in his throne room that we receive and learn to live in this abundant life.

When speaking to the woman at the well, Jesus said, If you only knew who I am and the gift that God wants to give you – you’d ask me for a drink, and I would give you living water” (John 4:10).

If only we knew Jesus in the fullness of who he is in us, allowing his fullness to manifest through us (1 John 4:10–17). Jesus overcame this world, the flesh and the devil and loved others, putting himself last. His desire is that we all know him and operate in the same authority and power of his overcoming life. We are to seek him until his life overflows in us and to share this abundant life freely.

Unfortunately, the very ones in need of life and those with authority to choose to protect a life or take a life often don’t know Jesus, the source of life.

In Isaiah 1, Isaiah reflects on how the people of the nation of Israel have rejected the Lord their God and how the nation as a result is in chaos and in misery.

I believe this scripture reflects what is happening in our nation of Australia and across the western world in this age.

Governmental and societal leaders (often under pressure from the people they govern) have slowly turned from the path of righteousness that Australia was established upon. As a result, death and destruction escalates in our nation throughout many spheres of our society. Individuals and families are destroyed, devastated by the encroaching systems and laws of compromise, destruction and death in the nation.

In Isaiah 55:11, there is also a solution. The Lord has ‘a word’ that goes forth, that does not return void but accomplishes his will and purpose.

Return to the Lord, come drink and find his refreshing and his life.

Australia and those who govern her must choose life, choosing God as the Lord in our nation and return our nation to righteousness. For this to happen, the body of Jesus Christ must passionately serve him as Lord and no longer waver in double-mindedness, running after the flesh and the world’s ways.

Jesus said that the world is at enmity with the kingdom of God. God told Israel that choosing to compromise with the ways of the world is choosing death. Allowing anything else to rule over us is choosing death. Only Jesus has conquered death and has the words of eternal life.

Come, seek him while he may be found, call upon him while he is near, forsake the ways of the world and the plans of the enemy. Let’s continue to choose life for ourselves and others that the nation may flourish and we may have life and offer life abundantly!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we pray that leaders and decision makers across our nation will return to the God of Israel, and to his righteousness that the nation may be established and flourish (Isaiah 9:7).

We ask that compromise with the world’s ways will not be seen among the people of God in our nation. May we align completely with the kingdom of Heaven, stand in our convictions and be the people of God that we are called to be.

We pray that the nation will not halt between two opinions, but return to the Lord and find abundant life in him, so the people and nation thrive (1 Kings 17). May our nation return to the knowledge of God and again establish the righteous laws under which she is governed (Psalm 2).

We pray for all who do not yet know Jesus, that they would receive revelation of who he is, turn to him and receive his abundant life (John 10:10).

Amen.

Such a clear assessment of why our nation is declining in so many ways.
