COVID19 Call to Prayer – June 8: Taste and See
Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.
Fear the LORD, you His holy people,
for those who fear Him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
~ Psalm 34:8-10
What a great invitation we have to give to our friends, family and neighbours – taste and see that the Lord is good!
“ Rightly, then, is my hope strongly fixed in Him,
that You will heal all my infirmities by Him
Who sits at your right hand and makes intercession for us.
Were it otherwise I should utterly despair,
for many and great are my infirmities;
many and great are they, but Your medicine is greater.”
~ Augustine
Petition: Please join with us in praying for:
1. Indonesia – The number of confirmed cases is 31,186, with 1,851 deaths of those with Covid-19.
The country is easing lockdown restrictions although the number of cases is continuing to increase.
2. Tasmania – now has had 228 cases (up 0 from a week ago), with 13 deaths (up 0).
Restrictions are being eased, with 40 people allowed in restaurants.
In Australia there have been 7,260 cases (up 6).
There have been 102 deaths (up 0) – 6,703 people have recovered (up 10).
18 are in hospital (3 in ICU). 1,617,462 people have been tested, with 0.4% being positive.
3. After the demonstrations over the weekend, there is a danger that the ‘social contract’ will have been broken. Pray that as people now ignore the rules, it will not result in a renewed wave of Covid-19.
4. China has said it will make its Covid-19 vaccine available to the whole world – if and when it works.
5. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fall like rain upon our churches and communities. Nothing but a spiritual renewal will bring life to our lands.
A Prayer of Repentance:
Lord, we beseech You, grant Your people grace
to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil,
and with pure hearts and minds to follow You the only God;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Book of Common Prayer)
A Prayer of Thanksgiving:
I will extol the LORD at all times;
His praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together.
I sought the LORD, and He answered me;
He delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to Him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
He saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.
(Psalm 34:1-7)
