Memorable quotes from Chesterton’s memorable book. OK, I confess. I have a copy of G. K. Chesterton’s 1908 classic Orthodoxy in my hands once again. It is never far from my side, and I revisit it regularly. I have often said that Chesterton is my all-time favourite author and Orthodoxy is my all-time favourite [...]

Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936) is one of my favourite writers, and his 1908 volume Orthodoxy is one of my favourite books. He was an English writer, apologist, poet, essayist, and journalist. He was extremely prolific, having penned some 80 books, 400 essays, and many short stories, [...]

Being ‘true to yourself’ is often the worst thing you can do. Often music can capture the way a culture thinks and feels. It can reflect both helpful and not-so-helpful things. For example, a popular song performed by various artists in 1967 and 1968 was “I’ve Gotta Be [...]

Militant transgenderism kills – literally. People have died because of this insanity, and many more have been injured for life. And it brings about death in so many other ways. The very notion of womanhood is dying. Childhood is dying. Biology is dying. Truth is dying. Freedom [...]

In this morning’s reading, I came upon a really encouraging passage, as I often do. 2 Kings 20:5 states: “I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you.” This comes from the familiar story of King Hezekiah. Below I [...]

Some of you might be wondering if I am starting to lose it. ‘Praising disbelief? I thought you were a champion of belief and faith!’ Well, I certainly do stress the vital importance of a strong faith and solid belief. But that does not mean [...]

Yes, the Christian can have great joy amidst suffering. The Christian faith is a paradoxical faith. We all know many of these paradoxes: we get new life out of death; we only obtain glory via the cross; we fully become ourselves when we deny ourselves; [...]

None of us are anywhere close to perfection, yet God still chooses to use us. Here is a wonder of wonders: God in his matchless mercy and grace takes hardened sinners, saves them, and uses them for his purposes. But what is really incredible is the [...]

When megachurches are publicly critiqued, sometimes it is well-deserved. It is a general truth that if believers are fed a diet of faulty, questionable or incorrect teaching, this may very well show up in how they live. Just as orthodoxy (good teaching) is needed for orthopraxis (good [...]
