This new book by Augusto Zimmermann and Gabriel Moens is urgently needed. It provides a detailed examination of the legality of our governments' actions during the pandemic. We are still reeling from the effects of not just Covid-19, but of government responses to it. Indeed, [...]

Thoughts on how to respond to great evil and great carnage, in the light of faith. How do we discern God's purposes in such troublous times? And how should we address these disasters in our prayers? I take it that the four items listed in [...]

This great saint knew all about suffering, yet she magnified her Lord exceedingly. Hers may not be a household name, even to most believers, but she was a notable and remarkable Christian indeed. Annie Johnson Flint (1866-1932) is remembered for two main things: her decades [...]

We all suffer in so many ways, with cancer being a major source of suffering. How do we face our trials in the light of faith? Where is God in our pain? Let me begin by saying that this is a somewhat more general discussion [...]

Further reflections on the complex geopolitical factors behind the current war in Ukraine. The situation in Ukraine continues. My first article very briefly looked at some of the political, historical and military aspects. My second piece offered some scriptural reflections that might be of use [...]

What are we to make of the situation in Ukraine? How has it come to this? The incursion by Russia into Ukraine is still underway, and it remains to be seen where all this will end. Military operations are now happening, with even the capital [...]

It has been shocking to see Canada fall into its parlous state under the tyrannical rule of Trudeau. Government overreaction is crushing the common people. Having lived for the past two years in what has become known as the tyrannical paradise of Victoria, Australia, I [...]

A review of "Why Government Can’t Save You", by John MacArthur (Word Publishing, 2000). Are Christians meant to focus solely on the spiritual life and evangelisation, not getting involved with social justice and political enterprises? I enjoy many of the books by John MacArthur. He [...]

How are we to understand the Sabbath? Is it meant to be celebrated on Saturday or Sunday? What does it signify? There is plenty of discussion and debate on the matter of how the Christian should understand the Sabbath. Is it a requirement for New [...]

What is happening in Canada right now is shocking. How will the nation recover from Trudeau's heavy-handed governing? Concerned citizens are being crushed with state control. The disease destroying Canada right now is liberalism in general -- and Trudeau in particular. The despicable treatment of [...]

We need a biblical-specific love for Jesus. Love is not just about good feelings and being nice. Love wills the good of another -- the highest good. Hmm, a nice sentiment: "Just love Jesus." What Christian would quibble over this? Isn’t loving Jesus the main [...]

The Canberra rally for freedom is a massive game-changer. Ordinary folk are standing together, rallying against undemocratic laws and draconian policies. There is one thing that will always be with us: those who want to tyrannically rule over others. But there is also this: those [...]

We must repudiate the new religion of safeism. Christ promised us that as Christians, we will be persecuted, just as He was. Through our suffering, God moulds us into the image and likeness of His Son, that we may one day join Him in glory. [...]

We are rather selective when it comes to claiming God’s promises. We need to read them in context and understand the conditions under which we can actually claim them. If not, there can be harsh consequences. Many Christians are very keen on claiming God’s promises. [...]

We must resist Big Brother assaults on the church. Mask mandates are not a reasonable excuse to interrupt a service. Would police have dared to interrupt another religion's sacred time of worship? Tyrants always target churches. These thugs know full well that churches are a [...]
