When You Vote, Remember Former Labor Leader Mark Latham’s Brilliant Speech
This time next week we could have a new government. The thought sends a shiver down my spine for two reasons.
The Labor Party, who according to the polls will form government in a week’s time are obsessively devoted to the introduction of Gender Fluidity in our schools. See details of Labor’s policy here.
The teaching of this harmful ideology will damage our children massively. I believe this is nothing more than legislated child abuse.
In Canada and England parents who refuse to comply with the new transgender policies are having their children taken from them. Check the links if you do not believe me.
The other sad reality is that the Labor Party seems hellbent on removing our right to have a different opinion. Political correctness is suffocating free speech and free thought and I for one will never surrender this blood bought gift.
Men and women over the last thousand years have given their lives for our current free democracy that western civilization has gifted to us. Its loss should not be taken lightly.
Sometimes other people can say things better. Mark Latham, who is a devoted family man, delivered his maiden speech in New South Wales Parliament last week.
Alan Jones, radio veteran and former speechwriter to the office of Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, said it was the “Most outstanding political speech I’ve ever read“.
You can read an abbreviated version below.
“The New Left are the new primitives of our time: junking the importance of evidence, of recorded history, of biological science, to pretend that all parts of our lives (especially race, gender and sexuality) can be fluid, that everything we know and feel around us is, in fact, ‘socially constructed’.
They’re peddling Fake News…
Our personal characteristics and identities are fixed, not fluid.
With few exceptions, people are born either male or female. (Editor’s Note: Only one in 4,500 babies are born with this disability)
We shouldn’t be confusing young people and risking their mental health by pushing gender fluidity upon them.
We shouldn’t be taking away from parents their essential role as the primary carers of their children – in matters personal and sexual.
We shouldn’t be changing the purpose of our education system: transforming schools from places of skill and academic attainment into gender fluidity factories.
Most of all, we shouldn’t be losing sight of the interests of mainstream, majority Australia.
In the last national census, for instance, 13 hundred Australians identified as transgender.
But to listen to the political and media coverage of this issue, you would think there were 13 million.
Everywhere I travel, parents and grandparents, workers and communities, tell me how concerned they are about Australia’s direction.
They ask me, ‘What’s happened to our country; where has this nonsense come from?’
The answer is clear.
The Leftist project, then and now, is about control.
Having, with the fall of the Berlin Wall, lost the struggle for economic control, the Left got smarter.
It shifted from the Cold War to a culture war.
It moved from pursuing economic Marxism to pushing cultural Marxism.
Instead of trying to socialise the means of production, it’s now trying to socialise the means of individual expression and belief – our language, our values, our behaviour.
Instead of seeking revolution at the top of government, it has marched instead through our institutions – a tactic that’s harder to combat.
The elites have been remarkably successful in this cultural invasion.
Our abiding national traditions of free speech, merit selection, resilience and love of country are being lost, not just in the public sector – in schools, universities, public broadcasters, major political parties and government agencies – but also in large parts of corporate Australia and the commercial media.
The rest of us are the Resistance to this national takeover.
Our chief ally is evidence.
Evidence and human nature.
Through the power of reason and enlightenment, people want to have a say about the things that are important to them.
They want free speech.
They want freedom of religion and belief…
I’m not a Christian but I recognise the vital contribution of Christianity to our civilisation: its vast social and charitable work; its teaching of right and wrong in civil society.
I stand with Israel Folau.
In his own private time away from his job playing football, he’s a preacher at his community church and naturally, he quotes the Bible.
He believes, as millions of people have believed for thousands of years, that sinners go to Hell.
As per his valid religious faith, he loves the sinner but condemns the sin.
Yet for his beliefs, his Christianity, he is not allowed to play rugby, to chase the pigskin around the park.
How did our State and our nation ever come to this?
I was on Folau’s list of sinners, more than once actually.
But as I don’t believe in Hell, there was no way I could take offence.
Those claiming outrage have fabricated their position solely for the purpose of censorship…
I believe that no Australian should live in fear of the words they utter.
No Australian should be fearful of proclaiming four of the most glorious words of our civilisation: I Am A Christian.
No one should be sacked by their employer for statements of genuine belief and faith that have got nothing to do with their job.
The Folau case exposes the new serfdom in the Australian workplace: how big companies, the corporate PC-elites are wanting to control all aspects of their employees’ lives – their religious and political views, how they speak and think, how they behave, even in their own time away from the workplace.
This is a stunning intrusion on workers’ rights.
Yet far from condemning the new serfdom, Labor and the trade unions have been cheering it on.
For those of us who believe in the virtues of Western civilisation, who treasure the advances and values of the Enlightenment… this is the fight of our lives.
Our ethos… is simple:
No surrender.
No surrender in any debate, in any institution, on any front.
No surrender in trying to take back our country.”
Perhaps Mark Latham was inspired by the words of Winston Churchill who said. “We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be… and we shall never surrender.” Whatever the case Mark Latham’s speech is up there with the very best as Alan Jones has observed.
When you vote next week remember Mark Latham’s speech. Remember that your vote matters and how you list your voting preferences for your vote matters as well especially in the Senate. This is a good video by Dave Pellowe to watch to understand the voting process.
Do your own research and come to your own conclusions. Family Voice have a good voter’s guide, as does the Australian Christian Values Institute, if I do say so myself.
The Eternity voter’s guide is a bit more left of centre but I am sure you are well able to make your own decision on the day.

I do not now use the term "detransition" because, after seeing all of this research, I realised that nobody ever truly transitions, so nobody can detransition. I prefer to say that I got my real life back.
Thank you so much!
Excellent article. Thank you for speaking truth.
Straight and clear talking!
Brilliant – Needs to be passed on & read by all Australians
????
This send shivers down my spine too.
I agree with this.
Lets pray and stand for human dignity and moral truths to remain in AUSTRALIA
A lot of common-sense truth that Mark Latham speaks about. Here here for truth!
I agree . Commencence, truth,Solid moral Foundation, respect, good grounding, WE Need TO VOTE,
For People Who LIVE BY PRINCIPLES, THAT BUILD, UP OUR People OUR NATION.
Evidence in their personal lives , are TRUSTWORTHY, just, True, RELIABLE.
Who Carry the RESPONSIBILITY , FOR OUR GOOD, WHO ARE AWARE, AND KNOW, that,WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE, FOR ALL THAT WE DO AND SAY TO HIGHEST AUTHORITY.
They are the one’s who can be trusted, to lead this NATION AUSTRALIA.
May Mark Latham be blessed for speaking up for the truth!
Great
Great speech & great article.
How encouraging to hear such a wonderful speech from, former ALP leader, Mark Latham.
I am a Christian. Mark Latham said he is not. I agree with Mark. He stands for solid principles,
That we WANT AND NEED For A HEALTHY NATION. Where peace Joy and prosperity will flourish.
We need to vote for people who represents this VALUES.
Mark Latham is correct. Majority of Australians think Australia is heading in the wrong direction. Mainly due to the labor party pushing their gender fluidity agenda. Its a minority group within this country
Save our children!
Well said
Well said Mark Latham
It is time we all thought about and stood up for our beliefs, as a child I do not remember thinking about my
sexuality I was a girl and I played with my brothers and friends we played outside riding out bikes,
played inside with toys – dolls trains and whatever – I was a “tomboy” so I was not interested in makeup etc
I am now married and have been for 27+ years and have a son and daughter who were also allowed to play
outside riding bikes etc and played inside with music instrumental toys, dolls, and cardboard boxes the greatest toy
in the world was their imagination. I did not define myself by my sex and I did not allow my children to define themselves
by their sex – and God will not define me by my sex – he wants to know what I have done with his Son – For all have sinned and fall short of he Glory of God – I am a sinner – but I am saved through the shed blood of Christ – and I need to stand up for that belief and share that salvation is available to all sinners – Praise God
Wow well said! No way I’d vote for labour!!
The watering down of our western values needs to be called out. Not just by high profile people but all people who cherish those values.
Mark Latham is a powerful defender of freedom of opinion and speech – and even more powerful because he is not Christian. You don’t need to be Christian to see the incredible dangers of suppressing speech and opinions. Just read George Orwell!
See Leviticus 20 verse 13.
Well said Mark Latham. If only more had the guts and gumption to tell it like it is.
You get my vote!
I agree with every word Mark Latham spoke: “Our ethos is simple: No surrender. No surrender in any debate, in any institution, on any front. No surrender in trying to take back our country.”
Praying for Jesus victory in this election.
An excellent speech! Hopefully Fred Nile and Mark Latham can make a great effect in the NSW Parliament!
Thank you for publishing Mark Latham’s speech.
It is imperitive that all Australians know exactly what the Labour Party & Greens have in mind to change our society away from the ethics that the Judo/Christians have established as the foundation of Australia.
Thank you Canberra Declaration for all you are doing to spread the word that the far left politicians are trying to rob Australians of our freedom of speech, religion; in their bringing of the misguided name of “Safe Schools” in to Australian Schools to teach & confuse young people by pushing gender fluidity upon them.
I am a Christian & see the vital contribution Christianity has made in its vast social & charitable work & its teaching of right & wrong in civil society.
We need to retain our freedom of speech & freedom of religion.
I agree with Israel Folau’s stand.
Thank you for all the encouraging of us to prayer & fasting for the 21 days before the election.
.
Praying for Jesus victory in this election
Thank you Warwick for sharing Mark Latham’s maiden speech. I agree with Alan Jones, the most brilliant political speech I’ve ever heard! It should be studied in our schools and universities for it’s blatant common sense, which is sadly lacking these day.
Mark Latham’s speech hit the nail on the head. A fantastic article to highlight this.
Well thought out! He is not a Christian and does not believe but sees all the pitfalls of crushing those beliefs in others and it’s demise in our communities.
How refreshing..
Great speech by Mark Latham. “I am a Christian” – I pray that he one day receives that grace.
how has it gone so far when it gets to the lace when teachers are not meant to say boys and girls something is very wrong.
I’m most impressed with Mark Latham’s speech. He is a powerful defender of freedom and speech which is so desperately needed in our nation right now. If Labour gets in it will be a complete reversal of that.
Mark Latham was the leader of the Labour Party 20 odd years ago. Just goes to show how far left the labour party has fallen in there pursuit of “progressive”, (corruption -in direct defiance of God’s word),policies. We are heading down the Communist road.
Well done Mark Latham ! It is encouraging to see someone speak the truth so boldly, and so well. Pray unceasingly for this country, if you care at all.
I commend you for saying things that minority sections of the community would slam.
So thankful that there are still some people who are thinking for themselves.
Great article. Thank you for posting.
wow what an awesome honest speech. Bless you Mark Latham
Superb article, well written and researched. I concur
Brilliant article Warwick! Thank you for sharing the truth. For being willing to call a spade a spade. I wholeheartedly agree with all you have written.
The statement below from your article, struck true for me.
“Men and women over the last thousand years have given their lives for our current free democracy that western civilization has gifted to us. Its loss should not be taken lightly”
Thank you Mark and Warwick for so many good points and reasons we should be concerned and why we need to take action.
A powerful reminder of just how far we have fallen from our Judeo-Christian heritage.
We are constantly reminded of how Science has supplanted the need to believe in God, except when it comes to our male/female sexuality. It seems that on this issue feelings trump science.
The Marxist ideologues will stop at nothing to sever us from our foundations and their primary target is the gospel of Jesus Christ. They have already deeply infiltrated the church and there has probably never been a greater need for Christians to publicly declare the truth of Scripture since the Reformation.
Mark Latham may not see himself as a Christian (there is time) but he has done more to empower believers than many a so-called Christian leader.
Great article, the truth needs to come out
Congratulations to Mark Latham and may God bless him for having the courage to speak out in Parliament, to voice in no uncertain terms, what so many of us believe. May his words stir the heart of all who heard his speech.
Good to hear the truth instead of the political propaganda peddled by the left. You would think by the media attention given it that sexual preference was the only thing of importance in our first world country. What importance do we give to the real problems of health, homelessness and poverty. None if you read the media.
Thank you Mark Latham for being so outspoken, I will be praying for you.
Thanks for publishing Mark Latham’s speech and thanks for a great article.
Thank you for this insightful article.
Excellent speech which clearly states the present state of affairs with our nation. Repent or face the consequences.
Whilst not a One Nation supporter I was very impressed by Mark Latham’s maiden speech in the NSW Legislative Council.
We so need more politicians and those in media to be bold, as Mark Latham has been.
Where has common sense gone? Why should 95% of Australians bow to a minority of 5%?
I have a lot of respect for Mark Latham. He makes so much sense.
Mark’s 14 year absence from the Politics has been essential to his clear overview of devious attacks on Australian Freedoms..Thank you Mark..
Impressive and insightful and so true. We need more people with the guts to say it, expose the darkness.
Mark Latham’s speech was such an inspiration that there are leaders who understand what the nation needs and wants despite their own personal beliefs.
An excellent article pointing to an amazingly accurate assessment, by Mark Latham, of where Australia is headed if we allow the demolition of our Democratic Freedoms (Religion, Education,Speech). Every Australian, who is concerned about the future of this great Country, should think very carefully and prayerfully about who gets his or her vote in this Election. It will shape the future for Generations to come and have a huge negative impact on our children and grandchildren, if these freedoms are lost.
Brilliant. Thankyou.
Great
In my mind Mark Latham has indeed grown in stature, standing and speaking out what is on the mind of everyday Australians
I am astounded by mr Latham’s speech.. the truth he spoke .. I am so concerned at the hideous agenda of labour and the damage and dangerous ideas aimed at our children.. many people who voted for the gays to marry are now appalled at the push to change our education to push for gender fluidity and drag queens in our classrooms.
I feel Australian’s are losing our freedom of speech and we will see children taken away from parents if they oppose the things labour want to bring in.
I admire mr Latham speaking out and thank him
Thank you for sharing this. this is a watershed election for our great democracy. The soldiers who died to protect our freedoms would hardly believe we can face the removal of our freedom of belief.
Wow… Very good Mark Latham
you have just said what many Australians have been thinking for many years…
How did we get to this?
when good people stay silent this happens…
And probably because when we do say something, we get our heads ripped off by the politically correct police/left wing.
Great speech. The information of what is happening and is likely to happen under a Labor needs to be heard.
We needed someone like this in nz before our election! With labour polling very low what did they do? Change the leader, same policies different face! What better than a woman who publicly shows outwardly care compassion, unlike the others who are every bit as caring, but in a quieter non showy way……but the policies are the same…. I even saw a post where people could vote that she should be the new pm of Australia. …people are so gullible . She was used to get at win and still being used for these ideologies to be pushed! I mean if a compassionate woman who now has a baby and is engaged to be married says so it must be right! Even the world thinks so. I have no gripe with her as a person just think she is swayed by the world and can quickly become unflavour of the month and have a use by date like all others.
My husband says until now I am the only person speaking about this wicked agenda. He watches ABC and SBS bias propaganda and deciet. That is why. And being a moral 85 year old Australian man he believes that this publically funded broadcaster to be honest. It is my heartbreak and digust at these lying and decietful and brain washed reporters that I believe programs like the drum.. Leigh Sales and such should be instantly removed instead of being paid by the public purse. Of course we knew what was going to happen when same sex marriage was voted in by the majority of Australians. History has shown us very clearly and the leader of the Australian Christian Lobby at that time explained very clearly and repeatedly exactly what the extent of Labours agenda is. I beg the australian voters who have still to vote tomorrow…to put labour and the greens last on the ballot paper.
Yes, absolutely putting greens and labor last! But I think we need to hold onto our hats, we could be in for some seriously stormy weather.
This is an excellent speech.
Agree…. Israel is a sign of what the left agenda desires….. making belief in truth difficult in Australia. But, there is a God, Jesus is Hos Name!
This is an excellent summary of the depths to which some in the left will sink to
in order to destroy the fabric of our society. Destroying our education system is
being used as a strategy to disable the thinking process of young people, by
leading them to jump to conclusions without thinking and without examining evidence.
God won the election 2019 in Australia.
God won the 2019 election in Australia.
So well said by Mark Latham.
Unfortunately, the far right alternative is an unfortunate reality. They are hellbent on destroying any semblance of equality, fostering the have & have not divisiveness, discrimination of refugees & others especially any who don’t support them, and dividing Australians instead of fostering a united people.
Both the left & right are destroying our education system by indoctrinating children with their own ideology instead of teaching them proven truths & more importantly how to think, analyse & make judgements for themselves. To this end & to be able to start the indoctrination when children are most able to be influenced they both aid the establishment of an economic & social environment that pressures families to be dual income families so that both parents work while their children are very young so they have far less influence on their children’s development which is handed over to childcare before school age where they develop under the guidance of staff, who, like school teachers, are indoctrinated by our universities which are controlled in what they preach by self interest organisations & government by funding demands. This particularly applies to the drug companies funding & indoctrinating medical students to support their own financial wellbeing.
The other enormous problem with both the right & left is that they can’t stand their opponents giving anything good or worthwhile to the Australian people simply because they insist they are the only ones who can do anything right & are afraid the Australian people might acknowledge some good in their opponent, which while they are devoid of good ideas & policies might see their opponents elected & them out of a job. The right is hellbent on destroying Medicare (previously Medibank), the NBN & NDIS because they were great for Australia but introduced by the left, by doing all they can to make them fail. The left panders to minorities with extremist ideologies to destroy any morals of the right irrespective of the majority of Australian’s beliefs.
Unfortunately, while ever we have a 2 party system of government which is controlled by a vocal minority because none is strong enough & good enough to govern in their own right & generally oppose each other on principle not values, we are stuck with government by the minority & not much good coming from it as they have difficulty getting anything through.
I recall a Pickering cartoon in the Canberra Times many years ago with the Prime Minister & the Leader of the Opposition on the steps of (the old) parliament house saying, “at least there’s something we can agree on” while holding papers on a pay rise for politicians.
The best outcome for Australia as I see it would be the abolition of party politics (& somehow banning it) & all our representatives being independents elected to represent their electorate & Australia as a whole & all elected representatives being the government. They would all have to act in the interest of the majority of their electorate at least & hopefully that would be in the interest of Australia as a whole, or they would be out next election. The opposition, if we needed one, would be the runners up until candidates nominated for the next election & took on the role of opposition by offering worthwhile alternatives.
The next best outcome for Australia, if we can’t be totally rid of the party political system, would be a parliament controlled by a large number of independents truely representing their electorate & Australia as a whole. If this was achieved & worked out good for the people of Australia, as I believe it would, I think good, honest independents would grow in numbers & take over the government of this great country for the benefit of all.
I just hope Israel Folau wins in the courts under the anti-discrimination act for unfair dismissal & is awarded the full amount of his contract plus all expenses since this debacle commenced & the that Rugby Australia is ordered to re-instate him at his old contract rate so that if he opts to return he gets paid for playing plus the equivalent compensation plus expenses.
These corrupt organisations or any employers, who condone illegal &/or antisocial behaviours such as violence, sexual exploitation & many others we have seen by letting the perpetrators off with a slap on the wrist or scot free & victimise someone who has merely expressed their belief, need to have to suffer where it hurts them most, financially, & so that it is significant punishment to deter them from re-offending.
I did not like Mark Latham all those years ago when he was in the Labor Party. How he has changed. Maybe he could “make a comeback” into Labor politics. He certainly makes some VERY good points. He is certainly, now, the sanest of the supporters of Labor politics.
