Christian, Muslim & Jewish Leaders Join to Oppose NSW Abortion Bill

Christian, Muslim and Jewish religious leaders join to oppose the proposed Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019 and the process by which it is being pushed through NSW Parliament

This bill was only given to select parliamentarians on Saturday 27 July, and those who spent months secretly preparing this bill want to rush it through parliament in just a matter of days. We, the undersigned, represent major faith communities in NSW and are united in saying:

  • Human life begins at conception. This is not only a religious tenet, but taught in every reputable medical textbook in use today.

  • The bill is just as extreme as the one that was voted down in 2017, as it would allow abortion up until birth on the advice of two medical practitioners.

  • The right of conscience for medical workers is overridden in that such workers are required to refer patients to practitioners who will carry out the procedure.

  • Abortion does not need to be further encouraged. A pregnant woman requires help and support, not a quick answer which will ultimately harm her. The bill does nothing to provide real choices for women who feel they have no option other than abortion.

We call on all parties to drop this misnamed bill, and instead do what makes for genuine health care.

Interesting that no Pentecostal pastors joined Australia’s religious leadership in condemning this bill. Their silence within and without their churches is deafening

Yes I agree. Church leaders need to stand up and be a voice instead of being afraid of upsetting potential congregation members or existing members. Bums on seats equates to tithes & offerings. Church leaders will have to give an account before God about their lack of courage to make a stand and raise a standard in this Nation.

Life starts at conception, so to be responsible in taking this life is murdering an unborn child! There is no reason good enough to consider anything else! I hate/ can hardly bear the thought of the pain this unborn infant has to go through when abortion takes place! If women had these babies and were unable to look after them, so many women unable to have babies could adopt them! There is never a good enough reason to take a life in utero! It is God who gives life and it should be God who takes/ends life!

I am a Christian, stand for the oppressed, those without a voice, and fear God.

Where are all the other churches?? I am sad beyond comprehension that any church would fear man, compromise Godliness, and not fear God.

Don’t the churches know that silence isn’t optional? Where is one pentecostal mega church? We need you to speak out …

“The church must be reminded it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state.”

“Evil thrives when good men do nothing”, and we will all stand before our Father in Heaven one day and account for our actions in the face of the murdered unborn. Did we resist or remain silent?
