Electing Just, Righteous and Honest Parliamentarians: Day 11
Intention
To realise that we are responsible for electing representatives who will govern with justice and integrity, and so we should vote for those who possess character, integrity, and a healthy fear of God.
Scripture
“I, wisdom, share a home with shrewdness and have knowledge and discretion. To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech.
“I possess good advice and sound wisdom; I have understanding and strength.
“It is by me that kings reign and rulers enact just law; by me, princes lead, as do nobles and all righteous judges.”
– Proverbs 8:12–16
“God, give your justice to the king and your righteousness to the king’s son.
“He will judge your people with righteousness and your afflicted ones with justice. May the mountains bring well-being to the people and the hills, righteousness. May he vindicate the afflicted among the people, help the poor, and crush the oppressor.”
– Psalm 72:1–4
Reflection
We have a responsibility before God to carefully choose who we vote for in an election. As we consider how we should vote, we must examine and consider not just the policies of the respective parties but, equally, or even more importantly, the character and values of individual candidates and indeed of the parties themselves.
Therefore, today we ask you to pray for the election of just, righteous, and honest parliamentarians who will uphold the biblical values we as Christians cherish.
We want to believe that all professing Christians running for election would meet these standards. However, not all electorates will have Christians standing for election. Thus, we must make a personal judgment about which of the candidates we’re asked to vote for aligns with the high standards we should require of our elected representatives.
The Bible readings today remind us that those we elect to govern us have a responsibility to defend the afflicted among us, save the children of the needy, and crush those who seek to oppress us (Psalm 72:4).
Moreover, Proverbs 8:13 tells us that to fear the Lord is to hate evil.
For a government to govern justly and righteously, its elected members in Parliament must embody the values of justice, righteousness, and honesty.
We, the voters, hold the power to decide who these individuals are.
It is our important responsibility to ensure that those we vote for possess character, integrity, and a healthy fear of God.

Prayer
We ask you, Lord, to call and appoint those who are just, righteous, honest, and possess integrity to lead our country. We pray for leaders who have a fear of You and respect for the people of Australia, who will govern us justly, righteously, and honestly, looking after the best interests of the people in line with Your own heart.
We also pray that all candidates standing on a Christian platform will genuinely reflect Jesus in their public lives. May You grant them favour in their electorates so that many people will vote for them because of their Christian stance.
We pray that those who will hold the balance of power in the Senate will be men and women of faith and integrity, with a true sense of justice for all. Amen.

Any politician who is anti -Abortion( Genocide ) is obviously Christian –vote for him or her. Don’t be fooled by any politicians who have not attended a church since they were children , suddenly photographed attending Christian Services for Easter or attending Services for Pope Francis if their policies are Pro-Abortion , have joined in passing anti-Free Speech legislation and have instituted both a Race Cmsr and an e-Safety Cmsr.to prevent Free Speech !
When I mentioned on “X”the 800 Christian Martyrs of Otranto whom Pope Benedict 16 had approved for Sainthood(final stages + ceremony unavoidable –by Pope Francis ), I was threatened on 12 April 2025 by -TRUTH@Muhamma8558427Replying to@nymph_echidna @augustinxvx and @Neccccy

Hello Brian – the subject of Christians and politics is certainly very important. After having given some considerable thought to the subject of Christians seeking political power, I have written an article, http://10.0.0.130:1111/articles/christians-and-politics/ in which I raise six questions that I think Christians in political office or Christians seeking political office should provide careful answers to.
I subsequently wrote another briefer article, http://10.0.0.130:1111/articles/church-as-state which expands briefly on the first, raising one further question. I would appreciate it if you (and any other readers) would be willing to have a go at answering the questions. (Disappointingly, thus far, no one to whom I have provided the questions, including sitting Christian MPs, have been willing to do so.)
Thanks for giving this your consideration.
Graham
