The Powerful Words of Charlie Kirk
“Use your words,” we hear every day in the classroom and the childcare centre. What the adult means is, “Don’t hit, punch or push your peer when they are saying or doing something you don’t like.”
So, we do — we use our words and we play fair, as did Charlie Kirk. His words were powerful, brave and true.
How were Charlie Kirk’s words so powerful that they got him killed?
Truth-Teller
Charlie’s words and arguments were crafted and founded in Christ. Jesus is the Word made flesh, the Word of God. There is nothing more powerful or effectual than the Word of God. (John 1:14)
Charlie was prepared. He studied profusely, memorised facts and had reasonable and logical discussions. He was confident that the hope within him was established on enduring truth. (1 Peter 3:15)
He had a genuine love for all those who challenged him. He never condemned his challengers, but was patient, polite and respectful. (Proverbs 15:1)
Charlie has inspired countless young people at universities across America to have conversations and to ask hard questions. In these unstable times, young men are looking for a solid foundation, and Charlie’s brave, firm stand has influenced many. Churches are experiencing an increase in attendance by young men aged 18-28. I pray that thousands of Charlie Kirks will arise and will articulately give an account for the hope that lies within.
Will the horror of this shooting surpass the division, and will Charlie Kirk’s work be multiplied?
Strive for Unity
As Irish evangelist Veronika West posted on Facebook,
“Let the deep loss of this one voice truly awaken ten thousand more voices that cannot be silenced. Let this ‘grain of wheat’ falling to the ground become the catalyst for a great turning.
What was meant to silence will only resound even louder in the days ahead. What was meant to scatter and divide, will gather and unite.
Let this not be an ending, but the Beginning. Watch and pray for what will come.”
Charlie left a legacy. He was an example, for young men especially, and for all of us to use our words well. To use our God-given speech. Let us, in these confusing times, study and speak Holy Spirit-inspired truths. Because we know that heaven and earth will pass away, but the word of God will not pass away. (Matthew 24:35)
We pray with Christians and other peacemakers all over the world that, as a society, we find another way to navigate the increasing division we face today.
God bless you, Charlie Kirk. God bless your beautiful, young family. Thank you for the enormous contribution you made to the Judeo-Christian culture, and to a free Western society. May your 2 billion views turn into 20 billion views.
Charlie often said to students,
“If we don’t continue to have an open dialogue with people who disagree with us, society has only one way to go, and that is violence against each other.”
It is not the nobility, the politician or the university graduate necessarily, who points people to the truth, but the “Charlie Kirk”. It is the common man who is salt and light; the church itself. As his name suggests: “Charlie”, free man, warrior, common man, peasant, and “Kirk”, meaning church.
We are all Charlie Kirk now.
For all who loved watching Charlie, there is now a mandate to continue the conversation.

Great article Gerardine!
I saw his comment “When people stop talking with each other, bad things happen”. I saw this particular one the day he died.
