Day 14: Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
Invitation
We invite you to join believers across Australia for the National Day of Prayer 2026 on Saturday, 23 May, as we come together in humility, consecration, and expectation that the Lord will do amazing things among us.
This day is an invitation for the body of Christ to sit at the feet of Jesus — to listen, to pray, and to respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we seek the heart of our Father together in unity.
More details, including ways to connect with others across the nation, can be found at the Australia Prays website.
Intention
To fix our eyes on Jesus so we learn again how to abide in him, allowing his life to flow through us not by striving, but by staying close.
Scripture
“When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before… Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.’”
– Joshua 3:3–5
“Jesus said, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’”
– Matthew 9:37–38
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”
– Acts 1:8
Reflection
Everything begins with where we are looking.
As Israel prepared to cross the Jordan, they were faced with a journey that they had never travelled before. God’s instruction was simple but profound: keep your eyes on the ark. Follow his presence, stay at the right distance, and do not rush ahead. The promise was clear — the Lord would do amazing things among them — but their readiness mattered.
The same is true for us today. As we pray for a renewed movement of evangelism across Australia, the starting point is not strategy or effort, but attentiveness. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we learn again how to abide in him. His life flows through us not by striving, but by staying close.
Consecration is not about withdrawal from the world. It is about alignment with heaven. As we come humbly before God, we lay aside whatever quietly distracts us — pride, self-reliance, and even well-intentioned ministry that has become more about us than him. In that place of surrender, our vision becomes clear. We see the cross not as weakness, but as the power and wisdom of God. We see people not as projects, but as those who are deeply loved by our Father.
From this place, a holy burden grows within us. The harvest is not far away. It is next door, in the workplace, and within families and friendships circles. Jesus, the Lord of the harvest, invites us first to pray, and then to go.
As part of this Five4Five journey, we are encouraged to bring five people before the Lord, asking that they would encounter Jesus and come to follow him. Often, when one heart opens, entire households and networks are touched. This is how the good news spreads — not merely by addition, but through multiplication.
We do not do this alone. Jesus sends us out together — two or three learning a simple way of life. We pray together, bless others, and walk alongside people of peace as they discover faith. This is not a programme. It is a kingdom culture shaped by God’s presence.
Those who have gone before us understood this. The Moravians carried a simple cry: “May the Lamb who was slain receive the reward of his suffering.” Their lives were marked by devotion to Jesus, expressed through prayer, community, and everyday obedience. They lived as witnesses to his living presence.
Today, we are invited into that same life. As we keep our eyes on Jesus, walk in step with the Holy Spirit, and go together in our Father’s purpose, we receive power to be his witnesses — one neighbourhood at a time.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we fix our eyes on you.
Draw us close and teach us to abide in you.
We consecrate our lives again — our hearts, our motives, and our time — so that your life may flow freely through us.
Holy Spirit, fill us with your love and compassion for people.
We bring before you five people who do not yet know you.
Draw them to yourself, and lead us as we walk with them in truth and grace.
Lord of the harvest, raise up workers across Australia.
Bring repentance, revival, and reformation to our land.
Send us together to pray, to bless, and to go in your name.
May you do amazing things among us,
for the glory of Jesus.
Amen.
