21 Days of Hope for the Unborn – Day 15: Jesus, the Light of the World
“For the light of truth was about to come
into the world and shine upon everyone.”
~ John 1:9 (TPT)
Jesus is the “true light”, the “Light of the World” (John 8:12; 9:5; 12:46), and He was born during the night watch (Luke 2:8), when the darkness was the deepest and most intense. On that night, the light shone in the darkness (John 1:5a), the glory of the Lord shone (Luke 2:9), the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5b), and it enlightens everyone (John 1:9).
Then Jesus said, “I am light to the world,
and those who embrace Me will experience life-giving light,
and they will never walk in darkness.”
~ John 8:12 (TPT)
Jesus is the long-awaited Light. The birth of the Christ-child fulfilled Isaiah’s ancient prophecy:
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;
upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom, a light has shone.”
~ Isaiah 9:1
The newborn Son of God shines like the sun; He is the “sun of justice” who brings “healing rays”. (Malachi 3:20)
Light can represent sacredness, sanctity, blessedness, holiness; purity, innocence, goodness, or perfection; glory, splendour, grandeur, majesty, magnificence, greatness, or wonder; intelligence, enlightenment, insight, wisdom, intelligence, or knowledge; divinity; the presence of God; joy; and truth. All of these and so much more are in Jesus and given to the world through Him.
“While I am with you it is daytime
and we must do the works of God Who sent Me
while the light shines.
For there is coming a dark night
when no one will be able to work.
As long as I am with you,
My life is the light that pierces the world’s darkness.”
~ John 9:4-5 (TPT)
The Light of Jesus’ life pierces and dispels the darkness.
Jesus suffered, died, rose again and ascended to the Father, and is seated at the Father’s right hand. On earth, the light of the world is now in us, as we who are born from above are also seated with Him in heavenly places. (Ephesians 2:6)
Jesus taught us:
“You are the light of the world—
like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.
Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand,
where it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see,
so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
~ Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT)
The Lord pierced the darkness and His light revealed the hearts of the religious leaders who eventually killed Him. Jesus spoke to the crowd at the Sermon on the Mount that we are the light of the world and our light cannot be hidden.
We are shining with the same light that shone out of Jesus when He lived in bodily form on earth. He lives in us by the Spirit of Truth. We in turn are to give light to everyone we come across. This incredible light is our good deeds shining out for all to see!
Our faith outworked in action is light, piercing darkness and revealing the hearts of those around us. This may result in being persecuted; however, light must shine — it is not to be hidden. Jesus said it will cause everyone to give praise to our heavenly Father.
Let’s believe Him and partner with the Lord in doing the good works He prepared for each one of us in this work to save the babies from being aborted. We carry light for our cities and regions beyond what we can imagine and, only as we apply ourselves, will we discover the joy from the fruit of our deeds.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, holy is Your Name.
We give You thanks and praise for sending us Your son,
Jesus Christ, Who is the light of the world.
Thank You that He fulfilled every prophecy
and word that was written about Him
and finished the good works for which You sent Him.
Thank You, Father, that now we are called to be the light of the world,
shining in the good works You have prepared for each one of us.
Thank You for the great multitude You are raising up —
awakening them to the truth that abortion is not a woman’s choice,
but a demonic evil that requires the shedding of innocent blood
and the slaughter of future generations.
Lord, shine Your light that is within us,
that we may bring praise to You
as we see baby after baby rescued and celebrated,
live out their lives and to be the blessing You intended them to be.
Lord, let Your light pierce the darkness of the hearts
of those who need Your powerful light
to shine into the deep darkness covering them.
Send Your angels ahead of the workers in dark places
and illuminate the light of the truth to set people free.
Lord, for those who have been blinded by the enemy
into being vessels of destruction to humanity —
awaken them to the reality of what the abortion procedure really is
and to the consequences of babies being aborted —
both to the loss of life for the child
and the life-altering pathway of devastation to the mothers and fathers.
We pray all these things in the mighty,
and victorious Name of Jesus Christ,
Yeshua our light and salvation. Amen.
Worship:
Watch:
What happens to pro-choice darkness when light shines —
Holy Communion:
“Now may the God Who brought us peace
by raising from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ
so that He would be the Great Shepherd of His flock;
and by the power of the blood of the eternal covenant,
may He work perfection into every part of you,
giving you all that you need to fulfill your destiny.
And may He express through you all that is excellent
and pleasing to Him through your life-union with Jesus,
the Anointed One Who is to receive all glory forever! Amen!”
~ Hebrews 13:20-21 (TPT)
Acts of Repentance:
Ponder something the Lord has called you to do, that you have not yet taken steps to fulfil.
Repent and ask for grace to help you to partner with the good work He has begun in you.
Prayer Points:
- Join our prayers with the USA in the battle to overturn Roe v. Wade — There is an abortion case (Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization) presently being considered by the nine US Supreme Court Judges which could overturn the famous abortion case Roe v. Wade (1973) which opened up abortion on demand in the USA for almost 50 years. This has resulted in the loss of life to over 62,000,000 babies in the USA. The verdict of the case is expected to be known in June 2022. If Roe v. Wade (1973) is overturned, or invalidated, it is expected that around half the states in the USA will move to make abortion illegal in their states. It is thought six out of the nine judges now have pro-life values.
- Pray that the Love Adelaide — Walk for Life 2022 on Feb 12th 10am-12pm will grow in momentum from the 5,000 last year — that nothing will hinder the church standing against legalised abortion, adding their strength and support to end the abortion crisis in our nation and beyond. Pray for more volunteers for the walk and for the weather to be favourable. Book Your Free Tickets for the Walk — bring your family and friends!
- Ask for the Babies Born Alive (Human Rights — Children Born Alive Protection Bill 2021) tabled in the Australian Federal Parliament to have favour, that it be allowed to go for a vote and be passed in this term of government with no more delay — so that in every state and territory in Australia, babies born alive after a failed abortion will receive proper medical care and legal protection.
- That people of South Australia will vote according to Life in the upcoming State Parliament elections. May they no longer support the politicians who voted for aborting viable babies even to full term, blocked vital lifesaving amendments and forbade all prayer and offers of help within 150 m of any place where abortions occur (including all major public hospitals).
- That many women and men will take up the call to be on the frontline in the fight for Life for the Unborn by joining a political party and running for office.
May God Bless you. Thank you for being a part of 21 Days of Hope for the Unborn.
‘And let us not grow weary while doing good,
for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’
~ Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
