Save Calvary Hospital — Email the PM and Politicians
Take a Stand for Our Religious Freedom
It’s a grave time for religious freedom in Australia. As you may have already heard, in the Australian Capital Territory, the Labor-Greens Coalition has passed legislation to forcibly acquire Calvary Hospital on July 3.
Calvary Hospital is Catholic-owned and is pro-life on issues on abortion and euthanasia. For this reason, the government considers the existence of this Catholic healthcare institution “problematic”.
Hence, it has sought to remove this institution because it dislikes its Judeo-Christian values. The acting leader of the opposition, Jeremy Hanson, has rightly called it “outrageous thuggery” and that it’s “impossible not to conclude that there is an element that involves an attack on faith”.
Historically, totalitarian regimes have been the main culprits of the seizure of church properties and services. Tragically, we’re now seeing it in Australia. That is why we have created an easy way for you to email the Prime Minister and your relevant politicians.
Like all states and territories, the ACT has a land act that lays out the conditions under which a government may compulsorily acquire a property. What is truly unbelievable is that the ACT Government is deliberately ignoring established law.
Thankfully, Catholic leaders (such as Father Tony Percy) are busy leading the charge against this authoritarian act. Watch as Tony Percy explains:
The implications of this are obvious. If Calvary Hospital can be forcibly taken over and acquired by a government because it dislikes its Judeo-Christian values, whose private property could be next? Christian schools. Aged care facilities. Churches or anyone who has a different opinion to the government of the day.
Astonishingly, Anthony Albanese supports this takeover. This once again highlights the shocking lack of religious freedom in Australia. The need for the work of the Canberra Declaration is greater than ever.
It’s critical that there is a broad and strong message sent to Canberra. Australians must let the Federal Government know that this “outrageous thuggery” will not go unnoticed and unchallenged. We must speak up before it is too late!
The Federal Government can intervene in this situation. Under section 122 of the Australian Constitution, the Federal Parliament “may make laws for the government of any territory”.
We must take action now to ask our Federal MPs and Senators to intervene in this situation. This will send a strong message that we care about religious freedom and that we refuse to have our Christian institutions destroyed by a power-hungry government.
Please use your voice to send an email to the Prime Minister and your Federal MPs and Senators. We have provided a carefully-worded email for you. It will only take a couple of minutes to send, but the effects can be far-reaching.
Let’s take a stand for religious freedom and Christian healthcare!

Australia still has a blasphemy law architecture that goes by a new name — namely, our vilification and anti-discrimination framework. These laws have striking parallels to Australia’s old blasphemy laws, with the exception that they serve a new god and are more readily enforced than the old ones.
