Why the War Against Hamas Is Justified: A Case for Israel’s Self-Defence

27 May 2025

4.6 MINS

Many accusations are being made against Israel and its prosecution of the war against Hamas. The mainstream media and others with dark agendas cry out genocide and other words with the intent of weakening Israel.

I wrote previously on the subject of genocide, explaining the truth. In this article, I tackle the fundamental justification and necessity of Israel’s actions.

Why the War Against Hamas Is Justified: A Case for Israel’s Self-Defence

On October 7, 2023, Hamas militants launched an unprecedented and brutal assault on southern Israel, killing over 1,200 people and taking more than 240 hostages, including children and the elderly.

Since then, Israel has found itself engaged in a consequential war against the militant group. This war, while tragic and deeply complex, is not a matter of political ambition or retaliation. It is a war of necessity – one grounded in the fundamental right of a sovereign nation to defend its citizens against terrorism.

This war is not about vengeance. It is about Israel and the Jewish peoples survival. And it is rooted not only in modern legal and ethical principles, but in timeless values echoed throughout the Bible.  This conflict is not about land, but the very existence of the God’s chosen Jewish people. Hamas and other radical groups have made this clear through repeated propaganda. 1988 Hamas Charter: The original Hamas charter explicitly states that Hamas’s struggle is against Jews, not just Israel. It calls for the obliteration of Israel and portrays the conflict as a religious war against Jews.

Hamas: A Persistent Threat to Civilian Life

Hamas is recognised as a terrorist organisation by the United States, European Union, Canada, and several other countries. Hamas is not simply a political movement with a militant wing. It is a group that has embedded its military operations into civilian infrastructure in Gaza. Its charter openly calls for the destruction of Israel and rejects any peaceful solution that includes the state’s continued existence.

The October 7 attack was not the beginning of Hamas’ aggression. Over the years, it has launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, built extensive tunnel networks for smuggling and attacks, and diverted humanitarian aid for military use, as The Washington Post admitted in 2024. This systematic targeting of civilians makes Hamas not just a military adversary, but a moral one as well.

The Book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that “there is a time for peace and a time for war” (Ecclesiastes 3:8). No nation seeks war in righteousness. However, when your families are under fire and your borders breached, the moral imperative becomes self-defence.

The Dilemma of Civilian Harm

No war is without tragedy, and the suffering of Arab civilians in Gaza is heartbreaking. Images of wounded children and displaced families rightfully evoke compassion.

However, it’s crucial to differentiate between intentional targeting and unavoidable collateral damage in asymmetrical warfare. Hamas routinely uses civilian infrastructure – hospitals, schools, and residential buildings – to store weapons and hide combatants, effectively using the population as human shields.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have made efforts to minimise civilian casualties, including issuing warnings before airstrikes and providing evacuation routes. Armies in similar conflicts rarely take these actions.

According to the IDF and corroborated by independent military experts, these measures, though not foolproof, represent a significant commitment to international humanitarian law. These efforts reflect a moral distinction that is deeply rooted in the Jewish ethos: “Do not stand idly by while your neighbour’s blood is shed” (Leviticus 19:16).

The Role of Gazan Arab Accountability

Critics often argue that the people of Gaza are not responsible for Hamas. That is only partially true.

In 2006, Hamas won a majority in Gaza’s elections, and though many Gazan Arabs today may oppose it, Hamas continues to rule by violence, not consensus.  Hamas also enjoy significant civilian support.

When a population elevates leaders who glorify terrorism and reject coexistence, it unfortunately shares in the consequences. The Bible clearly warns of this dynamic: “They sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind” (Hosea 8:7).

It’s also true that these elections occurred nearly two decades ago and that no subsequent elections have been allowed. As The New York Times put it in 2021, this is primarily due to internal political divisions and authoritarian governance.

While many Gazans may now oppose Hamas, the group still governs Gaza with an iron grip. Peaceful dissent is often violently suppressed, and there are credible reports of public executions and political intimidation.

One cannot collectively blame all civilians for the regime they live under. That said Hamas still enjoy wide support from Gazan Arabs and many in other Muslim communities..

The enduring power of Hamas illustrates how terrorist governance undermines not just peace with Israel, but Gazan survival itself.  This power also has significant influence on radical behaviour in other nations including Australia.

The State’s Fundamental Duty

A government’s first and most sacred duty is to protect its citizens. If any nation faced what Israel did on October 7, few would question its right to respond decisively. From the U.S. response to 9/11 to France’s response to the 2015 Paris attacks, liberal democracies have historically affirmed that terrorism cannot go unanswered.

Israel’s response, then, is not an act of revenge. It is a measure to eliminate a clear and present danger. To do otherwise would be to allow Israeli civilians to continue living under the perpetual threat of rocket fire, kidnappings, and cross-border raids. The difficult moral reality is that defeating Hamas may be the only path to a future in which both Arabs and Israelis can hope for peace.

Again, this is not a war of choice. It is a war to preserve life. The IDF are acting as God’s avenger as Romans 13:3-4 makes very clear.

A War No One Wanted – but One That Must Be Fought

This is not a war that Israel desired. But when one party – in this case, Hamas – rejects peace, targets civilians, and refuses coexistence, the space for compromise disappears. As long as Hamas remains in power, the prospects for a two-state solution and regional stability are severely undermined.

The international community must recognise the tragic necessity of this war – not to endorse suffering, but to understand its causes. True peace will only come when terrorist entities no longer hold populations hostage, when political leaders put reconciliation over ruin, and when Israel and its neighbours can build a future free of rockets, fear, and extremism.

In summary, only when Hamas is removed can both peoples – Israeli and Arabs – begin to rebuild lives no longer ruled by fear, hatred, or extremism. The war is not against Arabs. It is against those who hold them hostage in service of a death cult.

Prayer for Israel’s Protection

Heavenly Father,

Protector of Israel,

Spread Your sheltering wings over the land and its people.

Grant wisdom to its leaders, courage to its soldiers,

And shield them from the terror of those who seek their harm.

May those who rise against the innocent be turned back,

And may justice be swift and peace restored.

Guard every home, every child, every heart.

Strengthen the hands that defend life and liberty.

Let the day come soon when swords are turned to ploughshares,

And the cry of mourning is replaced with songs of peace.

B’shem Yeshua, Amen.

Well said, Kym. As has been said before, if Islamists would lay down their weapons in the Middle East, there would be peace. On the other hand, If Jews laid down their weapons, (except for divine intervention) they would be annihilated.

Further to some comments on Facebook:
Remember, Israel’s challenge is to apply international law in an urban battlefield where the enemy is systematically violating international law to gain the protections of international law with the encouragement of the guardians of international law… None of Israel’s critics seriously engage with the question of what adherence to international law is meant to look like in a battlefield where the enemy strategically violates every single norm of international law and weaponizes protected facilities.

Every critic I know fails to address how Israel could have responded in any other way.

Imagine if a terrorist killed some people, then kidnapped some more, and hid inside a multilevel apartment block in one of the hundreds of apartments.
Do you think an appropriate response would be to starve out the entire apartment block, hoping the terrorist will surrender? Meanwhile blowing up each apartment one by one, killing innocent men, women, children and hostages in a hope to apprehend the terrorists?

Imagine if Hamas took their 251 hostages, got onto private jets, and landed on an outback landing strip in Australia, quickly finding places to hide. Imagine Israel asking the Australian government to stop harbouring terrorists, and give them up and return the hostages. But the response from the Australian Government is, we don’t know where they are hiding.
Do you think it would be a justified response for Israel to start bombing all the capital cities of Australia, killing countless innocent Australain men, women and children in their quest to eradicate Hamas?
Why do you think it is ok for innocent Palestinians to pay the price for Israel’s bloodlust?
The Israel of the bible is very different from the Secular Nation State of Israel established in 1948.
The Israel of the Bible was constantly doing the wrong thing and prophets were sent to rebuke them.
Why then, do Christians today defend modern Israel as if they can do no wrong, because they are somehow chosen by God?
It is not antisemitic to call a monster a monster.
Time for a true prophetic voice from the church to call out the atrocities that are being done, blaspheming the name of God.

Thanks Mark for your comments and concerns.

I’ll first answer by way of a personal account.
A dear friend Yusuf, not his real name for security reasons, is an Arab Christian living in Israel, he works with youth and helps people with PTSD due to his psychology qualifications. We sat with Yusuf in our apartment in Jerusalem while he recounted the following:
Yusuf was born in Israel in an Arab town to Arab Israeli and Gazan parents.
From age 4 till teens Yusuf lived in Gaza, they left in 2005 when Israel withdrew all Jews and handed Gaza over to Arab rule and settled in Israel.
Yusuf’s best friend Damir (again name altered) growing up, also a Christian, was Gazan and could not leave in 2005. Damir married and they had a daughter.
Early in 2024 Hamas setup rocket launchers in the Church and started attacking Israel. Hamas held many of the congregation hostage in the Church while launching rockets.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) blew up the rocket launching base, the Church and the hostages were killed.
We wept with Yusuf as he shared this horror.

What should have the IAF done? Continued to allow Israel to be attacked?

This is the dilemma Israel faces in dealing with Hamas, PIJ, etc. who use civilians and civilian infrastructure to wage war.

It is worth noting that the civilian casualty ratio is 1:1.8 in Gaza vs a 1:9 global average. This is the lowest civilian casualty rate by far for any similar urban conflict. THIS IS BECAUSE ISRAEL HAS GONE OUT OF ITS WAY TO PROTECT CIVILIANS!

Israel is the only military in the world that drops leaflets, sends text messages, uses “knock bombs,” announces their plan to attack by drones so that civilians can escape. The civilians who try to leave are often shot by Hamas and are included in their count of dead or injured civilians.

Israel is by no means perfect, but are they accountable. E.g. If IDF soldiers do the wrong thing they are punished, i.e. gaoled. They do the best to adhere to basic humanity.

As for modern Israel not being the biblical Israel, this is a proven lie. Answered in the next comment.

Part 2. Genetic studies overwhelmingly confirm that the Jewish people share deep ancestral roots in the Middle East, particularly in the ancient region of Judea (modern-day Israel).

Major peer-reviewed research, including landmark studies published in journals like Nature and The American Journal of Human Genetics, demonstrate that Jewish populations—Ashkenazi, Sephardi, and Mizrahi—retain a strong Middle Eastern genetic signature despite centuries of diaspora.

        Key findings include:
        • Jewish populations exhibit clear genetic continuity with ancient Israelites, with markers shared with other Levantine populations such as Samaritans and Druze.
        • Studies using Y-chromosome and mitochondrial DNA show that Jews trace paternal lineages to the Middle East, especially around Judea, and maternal lines that reflect localized admixture during the diaspora without severing Middle Eastern ties.
        • A comprehensive 2010 study by Doron Behar et al. found that “all Jewish communities are linked to the Levant,” supporting historical claims of origin in the Land of Israel.

This genetic evidence debunks modern revisionist narratives that deny Jewish indigeneity to the land of Israel. It underscores that Jews are not colonial newcomers, but a native people returning to their ancestral homeland after millennia of forced exile and persecution.

Part 3. Paul commences his discourse on the Jewish people and their salvation in Romans 9-11 with the clear statement, “Did God reject his people? By no means!” (Rom 11:1)! And in the New Testament, the term ‘Israel’ is used on 79 occasions – in every case to refer to the physical people of Israel and never as a substitute term for the Church. The expressions ‘New Israel’ and ‘Spiritual Israel’ cannot be found within the New Testament.

To bolster itself scripturally, Replacement Theology must insist that all biblical prophecies about Israel have already been fulfilled. Thus, it insists that passages such as Isaiah 11:11-12, Isaiah 43:4-8; Jeremiah 23:3-8, Jeremiah 31:7-11, Jeremiah 32:37-42; Ezekiel 11:17-19, Ezekiel 20:41-42, Ezekiel 36:16-38 and Zephaniah 3:19-20 were fulfilled following the return from the Babylonian exile in the 6th Century BC. But this interpretation is a misreading.

For example, only a representation of the southern tribes of Benjamin and Judah returned to the land, along with a number of priests and Levites (the number of returnees was somewhere between 15,000 and 55,000 (Neh 7:8f; Ezra 8:1f). The prophecies of restoration concern all the tribes and speak of their regathering from “the four quarters of the earth” (Isa 11:12). A straightforward reading of Scripture builds an expectation of a second exile following that to Babylon (this time all around the world) and a second return (this time of all the tribes). The weight of history, of course, supports this claim.

Modern Israelis are indigenous. To be indigenous to a land means to be the original inhabitants of that land. For example the Native Americans are considered indigenous since they had lived in North America for tens of thousands of years before Christopher Columbus had discovered it. Native Americans have lived in North America for such a long time that they even have a distinct lineage which can be traced using a DNA test. This also applies to most Jews. Most Jews have very distinct genetic markers which trace back to the Middle East. To tell a Jew from Europe that he has no place in Israel is like telling a Native American who lives in Egypt that he has no place in America. On top of this there are overwhelming amounts of archaeological evidence that supports the existence of Jewish people living in the land of Israel since ancient times. From coins with Hebrew writing to the Masada and who could forget, the Western Wall. Jews are undeniably the most indigenous people to modern day Israel.

Today the nation of Israel is made up of just over 2 million Arabs, and just under 8 million Jews/others.
The country is home to about 7 million Jews, almost half of the worldwide Jewish population. But Jewish identity is a complex blend of religious and ethno-national identity; most Israeli Jews are not diligent observers of Judaism.
An Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics survey published in 2021 found that among Israeli Jews over the age of 20, about 45 percent identified as secular or not religious, while 33% said they practiced “traditional” religious worship. Ultra-Orthodox Jews, known as Haredim in Hebrew, made up 10%.
            https://www.timesofisrael.com/religion-has-outsized-role-in-israel-yet-most-of-its-jews-arent-really-observant/
Then you have Ashkenazi Jews, said to be descendants of Gomer. The name Ashkenaz was applied in the Middle Ages to Jews living along the Rhine River in northern France and western Germany. The center of Ashkenazi Jews later spread to Poland-Lithuania and now there are Ashkenazi settlements all over the world. The term “Ashkenaz” became identified primarily with German customs and descendants of German Jews.
            https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/ashkenazim
Ashkenazi Jews are not even descendants of Jacob. (Gomer is son of Japheth, Son of Noah; while Jacob is from the line of Shem). What percentage of Jews in Israel today are Ashkenazi Jews? After the modern Israel Nation was formed in 1948, ‘Jews’ migrated at the rate of hundreds of thousands a month.
Is that why you can’t get an over the counter DNA kit in Israel to check ethnic background?
Then you also have the Khazars, who in the 600’s, ended up in the region we now call Ukraine, who converted to Judaism (See ‘The History of the Jewish Khazars, by D.M. Dunlop 1954) They later dispersed throughout Europe. How many of the descendants of the Khazarian Jews ended up in Israel in the mass migrations after 1948?
So the question rises, how many of the population of who we think of as ‘Israel’ today, if any, have any claim to the promise Paul writes “and in this way all Israel will be saved.”?

When Paul says ‘All Israel will be saved’, does he mean all who are of the covenant he made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, through direct birth line? Clearly not (For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Romans 9:6)
Whatever he meant, we can be sure that he was not talking about the modern state of Israel. Those Christians who say they stand with Israel, based on some sense of loyalty to God’s covenant people from the line of Jacob, are simply ignorant of history, and of the demographics of the modern State of Israel.
Regarding replacement theology, who is the King of Israel promised to alway be on the throne from the line of David? If you say it is now eternally fulfilled in Jesus, then congratulations, you believe in replacement theology.

Thanks Kym for your reply, however you don’t really address the moral questions raised in the hypothetical situations – terrorists in an apartment block, and terrorists hiding in Australia. If you can’t endorse these as a reasonable use of force, then the argument that what Israel is doing today in Gaza as being justified falls apart.

We are not dealing with vague hypotheticals, but real life and death.

Israel can and must use all of its military capabilities to remove the scourge of Hamas from Gaza. This is completely necessary, albeit ugly. It means significant civilian suffering which Hamas et. al. are completely culpable. The only good news is Israel have acted with significant restraint compared with any other asymmetrical conflict in the last 100 years. Had Israel wished to quickly eradicate Hamas there would be many more deaths.

Another example of why this sort of action is sometimes needed is from WWII when, in March 1945, Gen. Curtis LeMay changed bombing tactics to incendiary bombs to stop Japan’s war production capabilities.

In one night, known as the Night of the Black Snow https://medium.com/history-a-day/the-bombing-of-tokyo-night-of-the-black-snow-cf3492576949 , more than 100,000 Japanese were killed (more than either of the A-bombs). This ongoing tactic led to Japan’s war-making ability being stifled.
While a incredibly terrible thing to do, it was necessary as a major step in ending WWII.
Had the Japanese leadership not been so intransigent (like Hamas) the A-bombs could have been avoided. There was no way Japan would prevail in any realistic scenario.

Israel have not gone this route, they continue to protect civilians as much as is reasonably practicable.

We must not forget what started the conflict. Not for the faint-hearted, here is a site https://www.hamascrime.com/ using Hamas video and pictures of the 7th October atrocities.
      (Warning: very graphic.)

Dear Kym, we definitely have different opinions on what is morally right when it comes to war. I think the Atomic bombs in Japan were immoral and the mass death of the innocent can never be justified. Whatever happened on October 7th will never be justification for the genocide that is happening in Gaza today. Would it be justified to destroy a whole apartment block and kill hundreds of innocent people to kill a terrorist hiding in that apartment block? No, anyone with any sense of what is right and wrong will agree. Likewise, nothing can justify the atrocities that the Israel Government is doing today.

Yes, the a-bombs were terrible, but what else?

The use of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 remains one of the most controversial decisions in military history. However, many historians and military analysts argue that the bombings ultimately saved lives—both American and Japanese—by hastening the end of World War II.

          Estimated Lives Saved:
The number of lives potentially saved by the use of the atomic bombs varies by estimate and depends heavily on assumptions. Here are key figures:

          1. American Military Estimates (1945–1946):
U.S. War Department & President Truman’s Advisors estimated that a full-scale invasion of Japan (Operation Downfall) would result in:

          – American casualties: 500,000 to 1,000,000 (wounded and killed).
          – Japanese casualties (military and civilian): 5 to 10 million.

          2. Postwar Studies and Historians:
Modern scholarly estimates of lives saved vary widely:

          – Low estimate: 100,000–200,000 lives.

          – High estimate: Up to millions of lives—if the war had dragged on for years with starvation, firebombings, and a Soviet invasion from the north.

          3. Japanese Sources:
Japanese military leadership intended to mobilize every able-bodied civilian, including children, with bamboo spears to resist invasion.

Estimated Japanese deaths in the invasion scenario: 5 to 10 million, due to military resistance, starvation, and ongoing air raids.

Hiroshima at 80: Setting the Abhorrent Precedent

As the world pauses to remember, it is worth listening to reflections of writers from the Brownstone Institute.

            By Robert Billard – July 20, 2025

‘August 6th marks the 80th anniversary of mankind’s most cataclysmic and ignominious achievement: The first weaponized use of an atomic bomb. At approximately 8:15 in the morning, the bomb “Little Boy” detonated over the city of Hiroshima, Japan.

While estimates have varied between 70,000 and 140,000 dead, the sheer magnitude of devastation caused to a largely civilian population cannot be understated.

To this day, much debate rages on regarding the necessity of such weapons in the closing chapter of the Second World War.

However, perhaps surprisingly to some, the decision was questioned by many senior military leaders within the United States military even at the time.

            Contemporary Dissent

The list of senior contemporary military figures that, whether quietly or in confidence to the president, questioned the necessity is extensive and awe-inspiring. These men were either responsible for waging the conduct of the war or were in position to advise the president directly.

What follows are some key excerpts that help to challenge the need for the August 1945 case usage of such an abominable weapon.’

            https://brownstone.org/articles/hiroshima-at-80-setting-the-abhorrent-precedent/

            In summary:

‘It is difficult to put into words the weight that atomic warfare brought to the conclusion of the Second World War. It served as a horrifying and needless bookend to the worst catastrophe in the history of mankind.

Senior leaders of the day recognized that in the dying embers of WWII, such weaponry was reckless and not needed to secure victory. Japan no longer had a functional navy or air force. Its army was depleted and demoralized after over a decade of war. Many of its senior political leaders were ready to end the war, and only sought minimal face-saving measures to do so.

When viewed through the lens of nearly a century of clarity, it is hard to come away from any conclusion other than that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were cruel signaling tools, with hundreds of thousands of innocent souls placed squarely in their experimental crosshairs.

Now, 80 years later, it is still necessary to reflect on the decision to use these weapons against largely civilian populations.

Indeed, it is imperative now, as much as ever, to question the orthodoxy that has taken hold of so much of accepted military history. The inventories of nuclear weapons have grown to unbelievable heights in the subsequent decades, both in quantity and yield.

Failure to recognize historical off-ramps to such calamity will only serve to encourage their usage once again in the future.’

To begin to try and understand Romans 9-11, we need to start here:
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Romans 11:33
This is Paul’s conclusion after trying to explain the relationship between God, Israel and the church.
It is almost like Paul was receiving small glimpses of revelation, and one glimpse of enlightenment led to another. He wasn’t sure where it was going…he was just going along for the ride. Then he got to the end, and his physical mind couldn’t comprehend what the revelation of the Holy Spirit had just manifested through the pen in his hand.
It’s like he put his hands in the air, and declared ‘who can understand what God has in mind’
And so we are left with some of the most debated verses of scripture in the Bible.
It is the height of arrogance to say we understand it all.
    What we can glean.
Paul’s writing here is biased by a deep sense of patriotism. Chapter 9:1-5
Paul tells us up front, there are different meanings for ‘Israel’ in scripture. Just because one is descended from ‘Israel’ (ie from the line of Jacob) doesn’t mean you are ‘Israel’. 9:6
Who is Paul referring to when he says ‘All Israel will be saved?
Was he referring to all of Israel in his generation? Or all 67 generations since Paul’s generation? Or is he just referring to all Israel in the time immediately preceding the return of Christ?
Yet there are many possibilities or variations of who ‘Israel’ is.
‘those of my own race, the people of Israel.’ Romans 9:3b,4a – Note: This would be people descended from Jacob (Israel).
(This is very different from the modern Israel today)
The children of promise being Abraham’s offspring – Romans 9:8
Those who obtain righteousness by faith – Romans 9:30
Of one of the 12 tribes, descended from Abraham. Romans 11:1
Those who do not worship Baal – Romans 11:4
This is why it is foolish to make up any doctrine about God’s plans and relationship with the modern day Nation State of Israel.
The starting point, and the finishing point of God’s plan for ‘Israel’ is simply
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”
“Who has ever given to God, Romans 10:33-35
The central point of this whole discourse on Israel being saved is: ‘How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14,15
God is not going to simply wave his hand like a Jedi doing a mind trick, and suddenly all Israel is saved.
The only way to salvation is through Jesus, through faith in Jesus. The only way ‘Israel’ is saved is by the faithfulness of those sent to preach the gospel.
There are some factions of the body of Christ who esteem modern day Israel as some kind of special people, (that you can’t criticise) Ok then. If that is your stand, then go and preach the gospel to them. It is the only way they will be saved.

In part I see bad exegesis – this is probably not the right place to fully debate this.
Bottom line replacement theology ends up making God a liar, obviously that is heresy.

The promises of God to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are for ever, if not then God has limited knowledge and power and authority which is not Biblical or true, the enemy tries to water down the perception of God to people, even in the church they are deceived unfortunately! He knows the beginning from the end, so all covenants are kept by him none are broken one however fulfilled. Deception is rife in the church sadly!

Excuse me Kim, you wrote “MS: write “Then you have Ashkenazi Jews, said to be descendants of Gomer. ” after I had posted that DNA evidence repudiates this!”
Gomer was a child of Japheth, son of Noah. Israel came from the line of Shem, the second born son. The DNA evidence you referenced was in relation to Ashkenazi Jews not being European in origin. Nothing to say they were not descendants of Gomer. If you are being honest, you need to correct this mistake.

This message is much needed today.

Prior to the founding of the modern political state called Israel, the population included Christians, Jews, and Muslims – a people now displaced.

BUT – The Kingdom of God has NOTHING to do with physical, earthly territory, no matter its name. It has NOTHING to do with the Old Covenant kingdom of Israel.

One CANNOT enter into the Kingdom of GOD by guns and war.

BOTH Islamism and Zionism are ideologies that are in error. Neither can be supported in any way. BOTH are violent. Both are supremacist. BOTH are NOT from above!

Rather, it is by The Spirit and water and by being born from Above that one enters the Kingdom whether one is called a Jew or not. (John 3:1-18)

Scofieldism has rendered the cross of Christ ineffectual to save, deeming salvation is dependent upon one’s works: of prayer for and support of the modern state of Israel.

Whole Gentile nations are now believed to be subject to judgement rendered according to their treatment of Christ’s ‘Brethren’ (Matthew 25: 31-46) identified by Scofield’s dispensationalists as Jews. However, CHRIST identifies HIS brethren as being those NOT after the flesh, not of his GENETIC family, but as those who were His DISCIPLES. (Matthew 12: 46-50)

For Scofield, the heart of the whole of the biblical message is Israel and ‘the glorious future for Israel under the reign of Christ’. (Preface to 1917 edition p.x. The New Scofield Reference Bible, Oxford University Press, London, 1967.) In fact, the MODERN political state called Israel HAS replaced CHRIST.

    THIS is replacement theology!

Yet, it is CHRIST that the Law and Prophets point to: The Lamb of God who ‘takes away the sin of the world’. ( John 1: 29) It is the promise of the Kingdom of God as Jesus declared: “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and put your trust in the Gospel”. (Mark 1:15)

ISRAEL’S purpose was to bear and bring forth The Christ – The Messiah and to point to HIM as Lord and God, to declare HIM to the nations.

It was NOT Christ’s purpose to extol Israel!

Israel broke her marriage Covenant with God time and again. God was long suffering, receiving the harlot back to Himself over and over. Finally, when confronted by Jesus with the parable of the ‘Wicked Tenant Farmers’, the chief priests and elders declared their own doom and just end: “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end, and will rent out the vineyard to other vine-growers … “. (Matthew 21:33-46)

John the Baptist was to the point! Seeing the Pharisees and Sadducees, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? … and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you, that God is able to from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. And the axe is already laid at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” (Matthew 3:7-12)

The Apostle Paul was blunt! ‘Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does NOT say, “AND TO SEEDS,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “AND TO YOUR SEED”, THAT IS, Christ.’ (Galatians 3:16) ‘And if you are Christ’s, then YOU are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.’ (Galatians 3:29)

Finally, Paul declares this: ‘For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman. But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the FLESH, and the son of the free woman through the PROMISE. This contains an allegory: for these women are two covenants, one proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar. Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.

But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother. And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise.

But at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now.

But what does the Scripture say?

“CAST OUT THE BONDWOMAN AND HER SON, FOR THE SON OF THE BONDWOMAN SHALL NOT BE AN HEIR WITH THE SON OF THE FREE WOMAN”.’ (Galatians 4:22-31)

The Apostle Paul, a Pharisee educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strictness of ancestral Jewish law and an arch persecutor of Jesus was chosen by The Lord God to bear HIS Name before the Gentiles and kings AND the sons of Israel. (Acts 22:3, 23:6 and 9:15)

PAUL was APPOINTED BY JESUS (Acts 26:6-23 and Galatians chapters 1 and 2) to explain that in the light of the Scriptures the Old Covenant was soon to be swept away and COMPLETELY replaced by the promised New Covenant. This would occur in Paul’s generation – forty years after Christ’s declaration. (Matthew 24:34)

Paul, taught by The Messiah was clear, writing: “For he is NOT a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one INWARDLY; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God”. (Romans 2:28)

Even AI can explain. ‘The phrase “not all Israel is Israel” from Romans 9 in the ESV translation means that not all who are physically descended from Israel are part of the spiritual Israel. This distinction is made to affirm that God’s word has NOT failed, as the promises ARE fulfilled for the true Israel, the Spiritual Israel, rather than all physical descendants of Israel.

Paul uses this statement to address the question of God’s faithfulness to His promises, emphasising that the promises of God holds true for the true Israel, the Spiritual Israel, but NOT for all the PHYSICAL descendants of Israel.

This concept is further elaborated in Romans 9, where Paul clarifies that being a child of God is NOT determined by physical descent but by being a child of the promise.’

Paul was ABSOLUTELY clear. Writing to the Galatians he insists: “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then YOU are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise”. (Galatians 3:26-29)

Scofield’s bible footnotes have been exulted over and above the text of Old and New Testament Scriptures and have REPLACED the Words of our Lord Jesus Christ and of His chosen theologian the Apostle Paul.

Just as Judaisers were a threat to the early church, so today, they have infiltrated the modern Evangelical church.

    Judaisers are ‘leading the way’.

Judaisers have captured the Australian Intercessory Prayer Movement.

There are two issues that are being debated here.

    1. There is a war between two populations both contesting the same piece of territory.

One group is mostly ‘secular’ or adheres to religious beliefs, rites and practices that are derived from Talmudic Judaism. The other, to beliefs, rites and practices derived from Islam.

Pros and cons regarding the morality or ‘rights’ of either side to the territory are fiercely debated by various groups.

However, that is NOT my issue. The issues I am addressing are those to do with The Kingdom of God which has no equivalence with any contested territory. Jesus said: “My Kingdom is not of this world”. (John 18:36)

    2. Within the Evangelical church today, there is confusion regarding what constitutes the Kingdom of God as well as confusion about the nature of, time for, place of and boundaries of Old and New Covenants.

Schofield’s explanatory bible footnotes and Dispensational doctrine have been given higher status than the Scriptures, the Words of Jesus and the writings of Paul thus changing the meaning of Scripture.

The Apostle Paul is clear! People called Israel are NOT the seed of Abraham. ‘The Seed’ is singular – CHRIST! Those who are Christ’s whether Jew or Gentile ARE Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise. (Galatians 16 and 25-29) This has NOTHING to do with the flesh, with physical circumcision or with GENETIC lineage.

The Kingdom of God has NOTHING to do with physical, earthly territory, no matter its name.

Old Testament promises regarding the return of Jews to the land were pertinent to those of the Babylonian exile. Those promises have been fulfilled historically. The Kingdom of God has NOTHING to do with the Old Covenant kingdom of Israel which was finally done away with in AD 70.

One CANNOT enter into nor expand the Kingdom of GOD by guns and war.

BOTH Islamism and Zionism (and Talmudic Judaism) are ideologies that are in error. Both are supremacist. BOTH are NOT from above!

Rather, it is by The Spirit and water and by being born from Above that one enters the Kingdom whether one is called a Jew or not. (John 3:1-18)

Oh dear, some really bad theology and bad exegesis in some comments. Here is the simple clear truth…

Replacement theology, also called supersessionism, is the belief that the Church has replaced Israel in God’s plan, and that the promises made to Israel in the Old Testament now apply only to the Church. Critics of this theology argue that it misrepresents the biblical narrative and undermines God’s faithfulness to His covenant with Israel.

Here is a detailed explanation of the case against replacement theology:

    1. God’s Covenant with Israel Is Everlasting
    🔹 Genesis 17:7-8
“And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.”

Argument: God’s covenant with Abraham and his descendants is called everlasting. Replacement theology implies that God has broken or altered this covenant, which contradicts this passage.

    2. God Will Not Reject His People
    🔹 Romans 11:1-2
“I ask then: Did God reject His people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject His people, whom He foreknew.”

Argument: Paul directly refutes the idea that God has rejected Israel. If the Church had fully replaced Israel, this reassurance would be unnecessary.

    3. Gentiles Are Grafted Into Israel, Not Replacers
    🔹 Romans 11:17-18
“If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others… do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches.”

Argument: Gentile believers are grafted into the root (Israel), not replacing it. The metaphor emphasizes inclusion, not replacement.

    4. God’s Promises to Israel Are Irrevocable
    🔹 Romans 11:28-29
“As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.”

Argument: Even in Israel’s unbelief, Paul asserts that God’s calling and promises to them remain. Replacement theology would imply that God has revoked His promises.

    5. Jesus Affirms the Future for Israel
    🔹 Matthew 19:28
“Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things… you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.’”

Argument: Jesus refers to a future judgement and leadership role over Israel, which implies Israel continues to have a prophetic role.

    6. The Prophets Foretell Israel’s Future Restoration
    🔹 Ezekiel 36:24-28
“For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you… Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors…”

Argument: This prophecy speaks of national and spiritual restoration of Israel. If Israel were permanently replaced, these promises would go unfulfilled or need to be reinterpreted allegorically.

    🔹 Zechariah 12:10
“They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him…”

Argument: This looks forward to a national repentance of Israel, recognising their Messiah—something yet future and incompatible with replacement theology.

    7. Revelation Speaks of Tribes of Israel in the End Times
    🔹 Revelation 7:4
“Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.”

Argument: In the eschatological vision, the twelve tribes of Israel are still distinct and present in God’s plan.

Summary of the Case Against Replacement Theology
    Point Summary Key Scripture
    1. Everlasting Covenant God’s promises to Israel are eternal Genesis 17:7-8
    2. Not Rejected Paul says God has not rejected Israel Romans 11:1-2
    3. Grafted In Gentiles join Israel’s blessings, not replace them Romans 11:17-18
    4. Irrevocable Calling God’s covenant with Israel stands Romans 11:28-29
    5. Future for Israel Jesus affirms Israel’s role Matthew 19:28
    6. Prophetic Restoration OT prophets foretell Israel’s return Ezekiel 36, Zechariah 12
    7. Israel in Revelation Israel is present in end-time prophecy Revelation 7:4

    Final Thoughts
The case against replacement theology is rooted in a consistent, literal interpretation of both Old and New Testament scriptures. It maintains that God’s character is faithful, and His promises to Israel—though delayed in some respects—are not revoked or reassigned. This view affirms both God’s ongoing plan for Israel and the inclusion of the Gentiles through Christ, without negating either.

    Kym,

ALL God’s promises to Israel HAVE been fulfilled IN CHRIST.

    Not one has been missed.

    Fulfilment is NOT future.

    It HAS been completed.

There is not now two covenant people groups but ONE only – those IN Christ – whether Jew or Gentile.

The modern state of Israel is set up for the rebuilding of a temple.

But Scripture is clear. Stephen declared: “The most High does not dwell in houses made by hands, as the prophet says, ‘Heaven is My throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is the place of my rest’?”

To be looking to future fulfilment of Scripture especially for the Jewish people is a mistake.

It is done! He HAS been absolutely faithful to His own word and fulfilled EVERY promise IN Christ.

The Lord’s word in Mathew 24 WAS fulfilled in AD 70. “This generation” of forty years.

The Revelation to John on Patmos was given in the few years PRIOR to the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70.

Israel’s Last Days or end days are in the past when finally, the Mosaic Age ended with the removal of every vestige of Old Covenant worship and practices when the temple was burned and the Jewish survivors taken away as prisoners.

Jesus warned that not one stone of the temple would remain. HIS words were fulfilled.

At NO time did JESUS speak of the rebuilding of the temple. NO where is such an event recorded in the New Testament.

    That point is KEY!

Christians are wrongly taking Old Testament and Old Covenant prophecy as yet to be fulfilled.

Perhaps, it’s time to get out the HISTORY books and read. Josephus and Tacitus are a good place to start.

The wealthy, Ashkenazi Rothschild family financed and distributed the Schofield bible that maintains there are still two covenant people, that Gentiles are judged according to their treatment of Jews and that there will be a re-built jewish temple where ‘the christ’ will sit to rule with an iron rod.

Rothschild’s wealth financed the establishment of the modern state called Israel.

Plans are in place to establish a stone throne for THEIR ruler.

The Evangelical Church has swallowed their false doctrines hook, line and sinker.

    Yes, doctrine DOES matter!

It is the body of Christ – individuals and corporate that is the true temple of The Lord.

    All HIS promises ARE fulfilled!

Approaching biblical interpretation intellectually will lead to stumbling blocks. The word of God can only be properly understood with the Holy Spirit. For example Jesus said the temple would be destroyed, and in 3 days he would raise it up. Imagine the arguments of those who heard him. ‘We can only interpret him literally.,’ they might say. ‘To say he means anything but the temple he is standing next to is replacement theology. He can’t possibly be talking about himself, because he said the temple. ‘. To make a set of rules to interpret the Bible, means you’ve decided to stop listening to the Holy Spirit. All the religious leaders of the time of Jesus were certain they knew what the messiah would look like. The believed the had the correct interpretation of scripture. But then he came and stood before them and they couldn’t recognize him.

“Again, this is not a war of choice. It is a war to preserve life. The IDF are acting as God’s avenger as Romans 13:3-4 makes very clear.” – This is a ridiculous distortion of this passage. There is no “army” in this passage, there is no “state” in this passage. The only thing you will find is a “civil magistrate” who has the power — ONLY WHEN USED LEGITIMATELY — to punish an evil doer. This means a “magistrate court has the power as ordained by God to punish a murderer, rapist, thief etc”. What you have done is used this passage as a funnel to give a military that is using massive force to kill many innocent women and children, some divine mandate. That is a total abuse of scripture. I agree that Hamas are terrorists and need punished. To punish innocents in the process is wicked, and to turn the Bible on it’s head to give a divine mandate / blessing to the killing of innocents is just unfathomable and belies a complete misunderstanding of what the whole New Testament is actually about. Very sad.

The claim that Israel is intentionally targeting children in the Gaza conflict is a serious accusation, and it’s important to approach it with a clear understanding of international law, military operations, and the complexities of urban warfare.

Here’s why Israel maintains that it is not targeting children intentionally:

      1. International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Compliance
Israel states that its military operations follow the principles of International Humanitarian Law, which include:

      Distinction: Between combatants and civilians.

Proportionality: Avoiding excessive civilian harm relative to the anticipated military advantage.

Precautions in Attack: Using measures to minimise civilian casualties, including advance warnings (like leaflet drops, text messages, or phone calls).

      2. Children Are Often Victims of War, Not Targets
In any war—especially in densely populated, urban environments like Gaza—children are tragically among the most vulnerable. This does not mean they are being deliberately targeted. Civilian casualties, including children, can and do occur when military targets (such as Hamas infrastructure or fighters) are located in or near civilian areas.

      3. Use of Human Shields by Hamas
Israel and many international observers accuse Hamas of placing military assets in civilian areas (schools, mosques, hospitals, homes), which makes it extremely difficult to strike military targets without endangering civilians. Hamas has been documented using:

      – Underground tunnels under civilian areas
      – Rocket launch sites near schools or homes
      – Command centers in or near hospitals

This tactic complicates Israel’s military operations and can result in civilian casualties, including children, despite attempts to minimise harm.

      4. Israeli Measures to Avoid Civilian Harm
Israel often issues evacuation warnings before strikes.

In some cases, they use “roof-knocking” tactics—dropping a small, non-lethal munition as a warning before a larger strike.

These measures are aimed at giving civilians a chance to flee, even though it’s acknowledged that evacuation may not always be possible under siege conditions.

      5. No Strategic or Tactical Gain in Targeting Children
From a military or political perspective, there is no rational reason for Israel to intentionally target children:

      – It offers no tactical advantage.

      – It causes massive international backlash, undermining Israel’s diplomatic standing.

      – It strengthens opposition narratives and fuels radicalization.

      6. Independent Investigations Needed
The scale of civilian deaths in Gaza, especially among children, is alarming and has led to calls for independent investigations. But proving intent—especially intent to target civilians—is a high legal bar under international law. Collateral damage, even on a large scale, does not necessarily prove intentional targeting.

We cannot trust any of the numbers being reported when the only source is the enemy Hamas.

    https://www.fulfilledcg.com/Magazine/previous-issues-2021-2025/2025-spring/replacement-theology.htm

‘Maybe I’ve been living under a theological rock, but there’s been this debate/argument/accusation/refutation/fleeing/running away from the charge of “replacement theology,” AS IF IT IS AKIN to being a Satanist, anarchist or even a HERETIC.

However, as a believer who interprets prophecy as being fulfilled, I am used to the label ‘heretic.’

The more I think about ‘replacement theology’ as something equated to anti-Semitism, the more I realize there may NOT be a better term to describe the NEW covenant the SAVIOR won for us.

Replacement theology has only been demonized by the Church to protect the MISUNDERSTOOD future blessings of national Israel. This misunderstanding of the physical kingdom vs. spiritual kingdom goes unnoticed, mainly by futurist Zionists.

Zionists are the ones who want to continue to live in a fantasy that Jesus will split that eastern sky and set up a physical reign in Jerusalem. That can’t happen in their world if Jews are no longer God’s really, REALLY real first true love. They can’t comprehend God putting away His first wife, even one who cheated on Him with every yahoo in town.

This entire argument of villainizing believers who see replacement theology as a theme demonstrated throughout Scripture is only being pushed as a narrative by those wanting to keep national Israel as the favored child.

The Christian Church is now seen as the “ugly-red-headed-buck-toothed-step-child” who Yahweh can’t wait to move past in order to once again return to the unfaithful, covenant-breaking prostitute of the Old Testament.

I think this ideology borders on mental illness.

[as for] many Jews and Zionists. They don’t recognize the new covenant wife. They don’t recognize Christians as spiritual Israel, Mount Zion, the new covenant community, the new vineyard tenants, or any other contrast laid out in Scripture, and John Hagee sycophants ignorantly follow in lock-step to this misunderstanding.

Instead of parsing out just this minute portion of replacement theology to defend the Jews, Zionists must be consistent in their total rejection of replacement theology to protect the ‘Jewish Nation.’ But doing this strips Scripture of its authority and message – that YAHWEH practiced REPLACEMENT all throughout Scripture.

I know some will argue that this process could be called fulfilled theology, which is a MUCH kinder, gentler, more politically correct name. But Yeshua, acting as a judge in AD 70, did not send the Jews to their room, and He didn’t ground them or take away their electronics for a week. Nor did He spank them.

He judged them and He killed them. He put them away as He did Ishmael.

    They were REPLACED.

There was NO fulfilment theology there, as that group of people were not re-shaped, ironed and pressed, and made into the people of Yahweh. They were TOTALLY replaced.

Yahweh continually did things that replaced the previous work; it did not just fulfil it.

    TOTAL replacement occurred.’

Confusion abounds within the Evangelical church concerning this matter: ‘Who is my brother?’ Dr. John Gideon Hartnett’s post today provides clarity.

Historically ‘blood libel’ is the antisemitic accusation that Jews ritually sacrifice Christian children at Passover to obtain blood for unleavened bread and similar accusations.
More recently it covers false accusations against Israel.
Eg. the blood libel the legacy media created claiming the IDF was shooting food aid recipients was unforgivable. These organisations believe anything Hamas claims as fact. The fact is Hamas was doing the shooting.
The BBC had to retract once the truth was revealed that Hamas did the shooting.

Some comments made here suggesting Israel was somehow controlling the world through finances etc. have been deleted as we consider them to be in this class of lies & libel.

It’s unbelievable in this day and age that people want to reference biblical material in order to rationalise behaviour, in particular regarding the ongoing murder of innocent civilians. Do these people recognise Benjamin Netanyahoo as a war criminal, or do they justify his addiction to war (and his battle to hold power) with these words? Believing that one people is favoured over another is simply delusion that has been used to pit one group against another through history. Where will it end? And when?

Please read my response above https://dailydeclaration.org.au/2025/05/27/war-hamas-justified-israel/#comment-42078

Also: On October 11th 2023 an article was published stating that “any significant response from Israel would result in genocide”.
So about the time the first response started the propaganda machine of “it’s a genocide” had already started.

The fact is the genocide accusation gives Jew haters a great umbrella to hide under after they do their wicked deeds.

We must face the reality that Israel must destroy Hamas, Hezbollah, PIJ et. al. for Israel’s long term viability and the survival of the Jewish people.

The fact so many people think this war is “genocide” is beyond absurd. It is the product of propaganda and a general lack of understanding of many factors. In reality, the IDF would prefer not to conduct “urban warfare” but that is not a reality given the proximity, location, and strategy with Hamas. That said, the Allies achieved victory by bringing Germany and Japan to its knees. As we all know, the US dropped not 1, but 2 atomic bombs on Japan, decimating two cities and its inhabitants.

I don’t know how this entire conflict ends given how ingrained anti-semitism is within the Islamic world. However, demonstrating to the Palestinian people that their “River to the Sea” (pipe) dream is only going to make their future more and more bleak. They need to be shown (by force if necessary) that the land for a future state will only get smaller, not bigger if they don’t end their real genocidal pursuit of eradicating Jews from the middle east”

If people around the globe really cared about the Palestinians, this is the narrative they would push (i.e., settle for what you have now or start thinking about immigrating to other Arab states). This is the only practical real long term solution.

In the mean time a cease fire will NOT help the hostages.

The blood of bulls and goats is replaced forever with the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God
A literal king forever sitting on the throne in the line of David is replaced by Jesus, King of Kings.
The temple of Jerusalem is replaced by the human body, a temple of the Holy Spirit.
The old covenant is replaced by the New covenant.
The people of God, Israel, is replaced by the new people of God, the church, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.
Heaven and earth is replaced by a New Heaven and a New Earth.
Jerusalem is replaced by the New Jerusalem
“And now Jerusalem is just like Mount Sinai in Arabia, because she and her children live in slavery to the law. But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother.”

Mark: The statement you’ve presented is a classic articulation of Replacement Theology , which holds that the Church has entirely replaced Israel in God’s redemptive plan. However, this theology has been increasingly challenged in modern biblical scholarship and theology — both by Jewish and Christian thinkers — for misrepresenting the continuity of God’s covenantal promises to Israel.

Here is a biblical rebuttal and theological critique of what you wrote:

🔹 1. Blood of Bulls and Goats Replaced by Jesus’ Blood
✅ True, but not in a Replacement sense
Hebrews 10:4 confirms that “it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.” Christ’s sacrifice fulfilled the sacrificial system, not replaced Israel. He is the Lamb of God (John 1:29), fulfilling the Levitical shadow, but this does not mean Israel itself is nullified.

🟨 Important distinction: Fulfillment ≠ Replacement. Jesus’ sacrifice was for both Jew and Gentile (Romans 1:16), not a replacement of one with the other.

🔹 2. Davidic King Replaced by Jesus, King of Kings
    ❌ Misleading framing
Jesus is not replacing the Davidic king — He is the Davidic King.

📖 Luke 1:32-33 — “The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever.”

➡️ Jesus’ kingship affirms and eternally fulfills the Davidic covenant (2 Samuel 7), rather than discarding it.

🔹 3. Temple Replaced by the Human Body / Holy Spirit
✅ True, but again, it’s a fulfillment not an abolition
Jesus declared, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days” (John 2:19), referring to His body. Believers become temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19). However, the temple motif continues into the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:22) — not discarded, but transformed.

🟨 The temple’s role changes, but God’s promises regarding Jerusalem and Israel’s centrality are not erased (see Ezekiel 40–48, Zechariah 14).

🔹 4. Old Covenant Replaced by the New Covenant
✅ **Yes — but the New Covenant is made with the House of Israel and Judah

📖 Jeremiah 31:31 — “The days are coming when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and the people of Judah.”

➡️ The New Covenant is not with the Gentile church alone — the Church is grafted into Israel (Romans 11), not the other way around.

🔹 5. Israel Replaced by the Church
❌ This is the core error of Replacement Theology

📖 Romans 11:1-2 — “Has God rejected His people? By no means!”
📖 Romans 11:17-18 — Gentiles are grafted into the olive tree (Israel), not replacing it.

📖 Ephesians 2:12-13 — Gentiles were “foreigners to the covenants of the promise… but now in Christ Jesus you… have been brought near.”

🟨 The Church includes Gentiles, but it does not eliminate or replace Israel. God has a future plan for ethnic Israel (Romans 11:25-29).

🔹 6. Heaven and Earth Replaced by New Heaven and Earth
✅ Yes, biblically affirmed — but again, this is about restoration, not replacement of Israel.

📖 Isaiah 65:17, Revelation 21:1 — New creation is promised, including Jerusalem’s glorification (see Isaiah 62). It is not about discarding God’s people, but about renewing creation as part of covenantal fulfillment.

🔹 7. Jerusalem Replaced by the New Jerusalem
    ❌ Misreading Revelation and Paul

📖 Revelation 21:2 — The New Jerusalem is described as a bride, not a geographic or political substitute. It symbolizes the consummated unity of God’s redeemed people.

📖 Zechariah 14 and Isaiah 2 show a future role for literal Jerusalem in the Messianic Kingdom.

🟨 Galatians 4:25–26 (cited in your quote) is allegorical — Paul uses Hagar/Sarah to illustrate being under law vs. under promise. It does not teach that Jerusalem and Israel are replaced, but that freedom in Christ is accessed through faith, not law.

    🔹 Summary:
Fulfillment is not the same as Replacement.
The Church is not a new Israel instead of the old one. Rather, it is a multi-ethnic expansion of the faithful remnant — Jews and Gentiles united in Christ.

“The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” — Romans 11:29

Thank you, Kym, for your very detailed and accurate research; your Bible references that show God’s call of the Jewish people to be His own and then to explain why the Israeli Govt since Oct 7, 2023 has had to use the IDF to defend the land God has given them.
There are so many who don’t know this history who have just believed media stories or taken on the media bias which is often (not always) antisemitic
The fact that we are most in Australia, gentiles grafted into the vine, and into the family of God, along with Jews seems to have been forgotten in the church. Paul reminded his hearers that this was the case (Romans 9-11) and said the gentiles were not to be proud, since God has graciously grafted them in, by His grace, while the Jews underwent a time of being blinded to the truth. Yet God also assured his hearers that the veil would be lifted and the Jewish people again would come to recognise their Messiah in later days.
God gave the Jews the law under Moses, the land and their teaching in the Torah and that a small percentage received the word and promises by faith and recognised the Messiah in His own time of walking this earth.
Since the time of the crucifiction and resurrection God has been adding in gentiles who believe in Christ the Messiah and the Bible but now, we have an era where Jewish people are seeking Him in a new way through this terrible time of war and persecution (brought upon them by the unprovoked Hamas attack.) It seems God is lifting the veil from their eyes as the beginning of a new phase in history, as more come to believe in the Messiah who was crucified and more are returning to their land.
Gradually we are seeing the last of the gentiles come into the kingdom and a new hunger for the word, where many Jewish people are open to hearing the whole plan of God and recognising there was their Messiah .
I thank God for His plan and His ways which are past finding out and for the fact that many prophecies are coming to fulfilment eg Zachariah ‘The Shepherd will whistle to His sheep’ and they will hear the call to return to their Shepherd and the land.
It seems that through the present wars (Hamas first and now Iran), that Israel never wanted, a higher plan of God is being worked out to bring His people home and to Himself. Revelation also shows the final plan where the new Jerusalem will have twelve tribes represented and descendants and also gentile Christians in their midst -all bowing down to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and worshipping and serving him.
It is very clear in scripture that this is all part of God’s end time plan and no matter what occurs, He promises to fulfil His covenant and promises to the Jews. It is God Himself who ordained this so we can only pray through as he accomplished His plan and marvel at His ways.
We can see His hand at work in today’s events concerning the attacks on Jewish people and recognise that this is a time for Gentile Christian to help the Jews who are being persecuted. That too, is part of our call.
Thank you for all you and Nel personally do in this area too. May God bless you bountifully as you seek to bless His people and to explain God’s sovereign plan and the role of Israel in that plan.
