Joyce Tells Stefanovic: Canberra’s Not Ready for What’s Coming – One Nation Is Australia’s Only Real Chance
Barnaby Joyce defends his defection to One Nation, warning of economic collapse, mass migration pressures and political “sanitisation,” pledging to restore conservative principles and national resilience.
Barnaby Joyce has doubled down on his reasons for ditching the Nationals for One Nation.
He parted ways with the Coalition because of its dysfunction, saying the mess was at odds with a desire to leave his kids a strong Australia.
From totalitarian China to a sole reliance on energy exports, the veteran MP warned Karl Stefanovic that “Canberra was not ready for what’s coming.”
“They’re not even talking about it.”
Economic Collapse and Energy Security Fears
If external pressures cancelled coal and iron ore, Australia’s two biggest exports, the country would collapse, Joyce argued.
The Australian dollar would be worthless. Inflation would skyrocket. Corresponding interest rate hikes would hit Australia harder than any other country in the world.
(Editor’s note: This interview contains some expletives.)
In that scenario, no amount of solar power or wind farms would save us.
Further asserting the historical importance of a future One Nation government, Joyce said,
“Australia needs to be prepared for how rapidly the world is changing.”
This is why he’s teamed up with One Nation.
The current Canberra line-up puts on a good show, but “they’re pretty sanitised,” he said.
“These types grew up in a Petrie dish, either the unions, firms or politics itself.”
“There’s a lot of pretending to be something you’re not,” Joyce continued.
For instance, in the Labor Party, you used to have actual labourers. Now you get lawyers and professionals.
This, he explained, is part of the reason for the downgrade of Australian politics.
Technology hasn’t helped, he said.
“It used to be that you walked into a pub, and you’d see politicians and staffers talking with one another.
“Since the advent of the mobile phone, those days are over.”
Recalling an anecdote about former World War II fighter pilot and Prime Minister Sir John Gorton, Joyce remarked,
“Believe you me, Australian politics was vastly more robust than it is today.”
This partly explains the meteoric rise of One Nation — “people feel [as though Canberra] has been sanitised by the Left.”
People “have been guilt-tripped into doing things that they never wanted to do.”
Like net zero, Joyce said.
“They’ve had a whole heap of economic theories that they knew were crap rammed down their throats.”
Question things like climate change or net zero, and you’re gaslit as a so-called “climate denier.”
Migration, Security and the Snapping Point
As far as support for One Nation goes, the man who helped torpedo the Rudd-Gillard Carbon Tax said that the Australian people “are tolerant, but they have a snapping point.”
Such as “this idea that you can just bring in heaps of people from all around the world, and it doesn’t matter.”
“They all go along thinking everything will be Kumbaya, until it ends in a Turkey shoot of human beings at Bondi.”
“People were getting wholesale murdered and massacred. That’s how well [mass immigration] works out.”
What’s unfolding across the country is something One Nation has always warned about.
The conflicts of war torn countries on the other side of the world are being imported onto our streets.

After the Islamic terrorist attack at Bondi, “a lot of Australians are saying, “No. I’m over it.” Enough is enough.
Aussies have woken up and said, “What the hell just happened to our country?”
Cautioning against making too much of One Nation’s polling, Joyce took the humble road, stating, “he wouldn’t be surprised if it dipped a bit.”
“You can’t get carried away with yourself, or you’ll get slotted.”
A Conservative Reset Ahead of 2028
With a nod to the expectations of Australians, the new and only One Nation MP also acknowledged the level of work required.
Talking about the 2028 federal election, Joyce was adamant that the party would be fielding 150 candidates.
“It is,” he said, “important that they give as many people as possible the opportunity to vote for One Nation.”
Owning his newfound membership, Joyce said, “We’re a conservative party, and happy to replace anyone who isn’t able to do that job.”
One Nation will also be “going after the socialists.”
Conservatism, he explained, “isn’t about rich people.”
“It’s about the belief that, despite what you were born into, whether poverty, a great family with wealth or not, and your level of education, you can nonetheless rise above that.”
“This means private ownership” and limited government.
“Every time there’s a new regulation, it means the removal of freedoms,” Joyce plainly asserted.
“We don’t want government in every corner of life. We want the government to worry about defending the nation, picking up rubbish, and maintaining roads.”
“We don’t want government telling Australians what power they’re going to use, what they can and can’t say, or forcing them to salute a myriad of flags.”
As a party, One Nation does not want the government intruding into the lives of Aussies.
Criticising the “uni-party’s” power policies, Barnaby Joyce advocated for more coal-fired power stations, stating that the government isn’t God.
“You’re not going to change the climate. [Government] cannot change the great vault of heaven. That’s going to stay where it is.”
On migrant numbers, the member for New England said the approach was all wrong.
“We shouldn’t be asking how many migrants should be allowed in; we should be asking, ‘How many houses are free at the moment?’
“How many hospitals are working well? How many schools are not overcrowded?”
Explaining One Nation’s approach, he said, “They would prioritise people with skill sets, and implement a contract.”
“Two things you cannot be are a criminal or on social security,” and this applies, Joyce declared, to anyone regardless of whether they were from the “Vatican, or the Middle of Europe.”
“If a migrant pines for where they came from, and says, ‘I really want Australia to be like the hellhole they escaped, they can go back there.”
Personal Responsibility and a Legacy for His Children
Digging into his personal life, Joyce said he took full responsibility for the failure of his marriage, recalling that “his divorce took a huge toll.”
He then advised, “If you don’t need to do it. Don’t do it.”
Not making excuses, Joyce confessed that the divorce was “100% his fault.”
“Being away from home all the time, which is what happens in politics, didn’t help,” he added.
Merging a love of being a dad with One Nation’s hopes, Joyce said, he wants to leave his kids with a renewed and robust nation.
“There’s no other undiscovered Australia we can all drift off to. This is it.”
“We haven’t got a plan B. We lose this, and you can lose it. She’s all over.”

Great article Rod! At least Barnaby is honest about his divorce!!! Very few Politicians admit their mistakes!
Barnaby Joyce speaks a lot of commonsense, especially on economic matters. Pauline Hanson wants to cut Waste ( Govt. Spending) ,including how can universities remain listed as “charities ” with their mass million dollar profits ? Time to end the Rorts ! Economists have stated Australia faces possible sudden economic collapse on a grand scale with wholesale unemployment and people losing their homes (just like The Great Depression )if China stops imports. Our Gold Reserves were sold by PM Howard. We have had 50 years of bad govts. PM Rudd allowed foreigners to buy our Real Estate and businesses. We have nothing to cushion the blow, if and when, it comes. That chaos could end in Revolution here . In the old days before indoctrination I studied revolutions at Adelaide University. It’s now or never whether we become in the not too distant future “The Islamic State of Australia ” with Sharia Law flying the Black Jihadi Flag of the Prophet Mohammed. This is the aim of the so-called “Pro-Palestinian ” Marches ( which includes “The Communist Party of Australia 1971 ” ) to bring chaos into our cities, disrupt business in order to bring about the destruction, via revolution , of democratic Australia. It is the reason why they carried across Sydney Harbour Bridge a huge photo of their “hero “, the Ayatollah , whose regime has recently murdered at least 30,000 of his own unarmed protestors. Last night from every high-rise building in Tehran they were shouting : “Death to Khamenei!” “Shavid Shah ” (= Bring back the Shah ), and ” I —-on Allah and the Leader !” Like us , without guns, they cannot defend themselves. I am informed on TV that future Terrorists can import all the guns they want as only 1 in 100 containers coming into Australia is checked ! Our future and the survival of Israel and every Jew’s life are tied to Iran. If the Islamic Regime falls and becomes secular (many people are secret Christians ), it stops funding Terrorists around the World and funding “Pro-Palestinian Marches” both here and elsewhere . It is alleged President Trump has been told by Turkey and his Arab allies (UAE, etc ) he cannot use US bases on their soil if war with Iran erupts. A small sign of hope is the warm welcome Vice President Vance received yesterday from the most secular Muslim country in the World, Azerbaijan , whose people I remember with love , and , whose Muslim President supports Christianity, and from Christian Armenia which I, also, visited. These nations do not want drugs (flown by drones from Iran ) or fanaticism. We need a moral reawakening , cleaning out our schools and universities of indoctrination , replacing judges, etc. How do we repair our Economy is the most difficult question of all . Perhaps trade with Armenia and Azerbaijan once One Nation comes to power ? And with Iran once the Islamic State is defeated ! In the meantime , pray, because prayer is powerful ! And never forget to give thanks to Almighty God.
The world we live in has changed but Australian politicians are pretending it hasn’t.
For a start there are 3 nations contending for world domination – USA, CHINA AND RUSSIA. They thumb their noses at rules based order. They will do what they like. Meanwhile the UK, EU, AUSTRALIA, CANADA pretend that rules based order still exists. So Trump seeks to negotiate a diplomatic solution for wars and the EU pathetically wants to continue to fund billions onto fruitless conflict. Australia needs leaders who acknowledge this new order because Australia is horribly exposed.
The other huge change is the failing central banking system we inherited from the UK . This system always results in the taxpayer footing the bill while elites are propped up.
Trump is signalling the collapse of the central banking system. He got rid of their Reserve Governor who upheld the oppression of taxpayers using higher interest rates. He installed a man Warsh who will use alternative ways – like aggressively seek to lift national productivity.
One Nation is the only party committed to removing Australia from UN AGENDA 2030 that has brought us wokeism, mass migration, censorship, the push to renewables, net zero, cashless society, digital ID, WHO administration of the Pandemic Treaty, etc etc. Trump has removed the US from WHO and 66 UN agencies saving taxpayers $1.5 billion a year. Italy, Poland, Hungary, Denmark are making their own moves to save their nations.
LNP ALP GREENS TEALS all support the globalisation of Australia.
Thank you for the very comprehensive report, Rod. I think this statement from Barnaby Joyce gives a great warning to Australians: ‘If external pressures cancelled coal and iron ore, Australia’s two biggest exports, the country would collapse’…’The Australian dollar would be worthless. Inflation would skyrocket. Corresponding interest rate hikes would hit Australia harder than any other country in the world.’
There are very clear strategies Pauline Hansen has in mind:
– One Nation would be “going after the socialists.”
– Migration would prioritise people who have the right skill set and no longer allow unvetted refugees and migrants in. In other words, Australia would look after national safety and protect the nation from those who may have radical agenda, or criminal records or be harmful to the country.
-families and workers and farmers and businesses would be protected instead of having a national Govt regulation dictating agendas. (I hope too that farmers would not be forced to have wind turbines on their property or be forced to clear all the trees to make way for wind farms. Also, the turbines would be re- assessed and if found dangerous, they would be classed made with toxic substances and not biodegradable. This would help curb some of the dangerous imports from China and we would find other ways to make energy that are not harmful to the land and waterways)
-There would be a re assessment of the school curriculum to bring it in line with family needs and critical thinking as well as skill sets that are vital for developing children/teens so they can map out a career and contribute to society
-universities would also be re assessed for courses and aims that contribute to a healthy society (no longer getting caught up in teaching China’s socialist/communist value system and no longer encouraging the new pro radical Islamic agendas. The ones who contribute to sponsoring our universities would also need to be re assessed….earlier it was China contributing and now QATAR and others continue the finances and input to the curriculum)
May God help the whole of the nation grapple with the current needs and no longer allow the nation to fall into decline due to outside influences and the leftist agendas. One nation is one of the few voices daring to stand up for the good of the nation.
