Learning God’s Way
One thing I have learnt about how God teaches us, is that He takes us forward one step at a time. I have seen this not only in the business that we started recently, but throughout my life. As I look back, I see that many learning experiences were warm-up exercises for events that I couldn’t see in my future. When our children go to school, we don’t expect them to go backwards in their learning skills when they move up at the beginning of each year. God doesn’t expect us to do this either.
2020 has been tough for most of us and most of us are praying that 2021 will be better and less stressful.
But… there is a lot of internet chatter about war and persecution coming to Australia. So, what if this is just a prelude to something tougher? Has this year just been our warm-up exercises for tougher times ahead?
There are two examples in the Bible of places that were facing destruction because of their unfaithfulness to God. Sodom and Gomorrah, and Nineveh — the former were destroyed and the latter saved. Are the visions seen by so many about the destruction of Australia, set in stone? Maybe or maybe not?
One thing is certain, that no matter what is ahead of us as a nation, God has a job for each of us, that of showing His love to everyone we come in contact with, praying for those who are against us and becoming closer to the Lord as He helps us to navigate whatever happens. Yes, we might hope that the future will be easier but if it isn’t, we will be stronger for it.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,
whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
Let perseverance finish its work
so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
~ James 1:2-4
Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for leading us gently, even though our lessons might be hard to learn sometimes.
Thank You for Your faithfulness in the past, now, and into the future.
Remind us constantly that You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow,
and we can trust You with whatever the future brings our way. Amen.
