Day 2: El Roi, The God Who Sees Me
El Roi is the God Who sees and brings Justice and Mercy for the child and mother.
As recorded in Genesis 16:4, Hagar had little or no choice about being pregnant to Abram — when pregnant, she ran away after getting into trouble with her mistress by foolishly treating her with contempt. Hagar encountered the Lord in this time of her deepest distress. “Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, ‘You are the God who sees me.’” (Genesis 16:13a). The Lord gave Hagar wise counsel to go back to Sarai and Abram, who took responsibility for her and the child to be born safely.
Our merciful God Who is ‘El Roi’ is the one Who sees every mother who finds herself pregnant — the same grace is available to help. “In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” (Psalm 118:5-6 NLT)
We, His Ekklesia/Church, are to be those who are willing to take steps to address the underlying problems that drive a woman to abortion.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, there is no one like You; You are El Roi, ‘the God Who sees’. Lord, hear the cries and rescue those women and unborn children who are in desperate need all over our nation. Lord, bring into the Kingdom of Your dear Son, those who are struggling or have no safe place. May light shine on those who have been deceived into a way of life that leads only to guilt, shame, torment, seared consciences and death of the unborn through abortion. May Your truth and light bring healing, hope and freedom. Lord Jesus, awaken and anoint Your people to become “Houses of Refuge” to take care of such women and their unborn children.
Let everything be done in pure love. Cleanse us as Your Bride to be prepared to welcome and serve those who need Your forgiveness and grace. Equip us to bring Your grace to help in every way. As Your light shines brighter, may we be robed in Your righteousness and always walk humbly, and our prayers be powerful and effective. In Jesus Christ, Yeshua’s wonderful Name, Amen.
Prayer Points
- Pray for women experiencing fear, panic or dread being fed by the destroyer to come in contact with the Church and real Christians willing to be the answers and with them in this time of crisis. Give wise counsel in making choices and support so that they do not feel pressured into having an abortion. Pray for men who are the fathers to support and love them.
These three current Pro-Life Issues before Parliaments:
- Pray that the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 be passed speedily in 2023. This Bill will protect babies who are currently, in most states of Australia, being left to die after a failed abortion. This protection for such babies is currently law in New South Wales (2019) and South Australia (2021) as amendments to the state Termination of Pregnancy Acts. This Federal Bill, if passed, will make this legislation national. Pray for protection for the three Federal Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party), Matthew Canavan (National Party) and Ralph Babet (United Australia Party) who presented this Bill on 30 November 2022.
- On 28 September 2022, the Federal Senate referred an Inquiry into Universal Access to Reproductive Healthcare (abortion) to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs. This enquiry is all about broadening abortion access and entrenching it into federal law, overriding state laws. Pray that the Lord stops this from occurring.
- The passing in South Australia of the Statutes Amendment (Loss of Fetus) Amendment Bill 2022. Presented by MLC Sarah Game (One Nation). This bill would acknowledge the loss of an in-utero baby due to a criminal act, such as assault of the mother or dangerous driving — offences in their own right. This Bill is about justice and recognition of a life lost. Sadly abortion is not recognised as a criminal offence, but this bill will for the first time recognise the personhood of the unborn child.

We pray for every state and territory of Australia to come together to stand for life and for the church to rise up and “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 11 February and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, and for other states to join in and hold rallies or walks in their cities.

Four years after the overturning of Roe v Wade, abortions in America have nearly doubled — because unregulated abortion drugs are being shipped across state lines with virtually no oversight, no verification, and no consequences. But the consequences for the mother are severe, and for the baby, deadly.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.

Most Australians still believe in human dignity and inalienable rights, essential truths for a just legal system. What they’ve since abandoned is the only foundation that make those beliefs coherent.

Thank you Ps Ann for posting the three significant bills that are to be consistent prayer points till change comes. In agreement with you .
