Day 4: The God of Justice and Mercy
God calls all people to seek justice for those most vulnerable who are suffering injustice. The Bible regularly pairs justice with acting righteously and behaving with mercy, love, kindness, and compassion.
Justice is always found in God’s character:
“He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.”
(Deuteronomy 32:4)
God deals with us in His mercy that was won on the cross by the crucifixion of our sinless Saviour Yeshua, Jesus Christ. We are given mercy as we confess our transgressions both individually and corporately. Proverbs 28:13 NKJV — “No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”
Once we have recognised and repented from our own sin, we are positioned in Christ to intercede for those who cannot speak up for themselves — our most vulnerable unborn. We are like Solomon, who was wisely taught the position that privilege gives us. Proverbs 31:8-9 TPT states:
“But you are to be a king who speaks up on behalf of the disenfranchised and pleads for the legal rights of the defenseless and those who are dying. Be a righteous king, judging on behalf of the poor and interceding for those most in need.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your character of faithfulness and justice.
Thank You for those who are partnering with Your call from heaven to rescue the unborn from abortion; strengthen them and bring others to protect and rescue the vulnerable unborn.
We confess as Your church, our sin that we have not spoken up sufficiently as Your Ekklesia for the unborn Australians who daily die through the practice of abortion. We confess we have sinned against You nationally as a people who have failed to uphold the legal rights of the defenceless babies, who are not surviving the practice of abortion in our nation.
We thank You, Jesus, that You took this sin upon the cross and that Your blood is constantly crying out Mercy, washing away our national bloodguilt. We ask, Lord, that You would raise up a greater company of pro-life believers that will intercede and plead for the legal rights of the unborn in Australia. We bow low and worship You, our wonderful King, Lord Jesus, Yeshua. Amen.
Prayer Points
- Confess on behalf of the many hearts in our nation, even of God’s people, who have become cold, and the consciences seared concerning legalised abortion in Australia. We have not wept as God told us. Ask the Lord to release a Spirit of Repentance and prevailing prayer that aligns with His heart of passion for every unborn child to fulfil their days allotted by Him.
These three current Pro-Life Issues before Parliaments:
- Pray that the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 be passed speedily in 2023. This Bill will protect babies who are currently, in most states of Australia, being left to die after a failed abortion. This protection for such babies is currently law in New South Wales (2019) and South Australia (2021) as amendments to the state Termination of Pregnancy Acts. This Federal Bill, if passed, will make this legislation National. Pray for protection for the three Federal Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party), Matthew Canavan (National Party) and Ralph Babet (United Australia Party) who presented this Bill on 30 November 2022.
- On 28 September 2022, the Federal Senate referred an Inquiry into Universal Access to Reproductive Healthcare (abortion) to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs. This enquiry is all about broadening abortion access and entrenching it into federal law, overriding state laws. Pray that the Lord stops this from occurring.
- The passing in South Australia of the Statutes Amendment (Loss of Fetus) Amendment Bill 2022. Presented by MLC Sarah Game (One Nation). This bill would acknowledge the loss of an in-utero baby due to a criminal act, such as assault of the mother or dangerous driving — offences in their own right. This Bill is about justice and recognition of a life lost. Sadly abortion is not recognised as a criminal offence, but this bill will for the first time recognise the personhood of the unborn child.
We pray for every state and territory of Australia to come together to stand for life and for the church to rise up and “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 11 February and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, and for other states to join in and hold rallies or walks in their cities.

Your prayer of confession and repentance speaks my heart and His Spirit brings us into relationship. ….Without His Spirit this would not be possible because our differences appear so great.
Funny how the distance between your State n mine, vanish as His Spirit moves through your written word ..
