Day 6: A Greater Moral Outcry
Abortion is the leading cause of death in Australia, with over 80,000 babies losing their right for life each year! Abortion has been legalised for over 53 years. Therefore, a growing number of our adult population have never known life in Australia without abortion. They did not know of the moral outcry that was ignored as the government of the day considered it progressive to open the gates of abortion in our nation.
The church was not silent, as many rallied to no avail! The church knew God commanded, “Thou shalt not kill” and “God hates the shedding of innocent blood”! In December 1969, the first state passed a bill to legalise abortion. January 8th 1970 was the day South Australia enacted the first day of legal abortion procedures.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
~ Proverbs 14:12 & 16:25
In 1969, Attorney General Robin Millhouse was the architect of the radical abortion reform laws in South Australia. The intent of the reforms, which broke new ground in Australia, was clear. A qualified doctor could legally perform an abortion to preserve a woman’s life or her mental or physical health (actual or reasonably foreseeable) or in cases of possible foetal abnormality. Decades later, Millhouse said,
“I deeply regret that the medical profession — and the lawyers — interpreted the law too widely… I did not intend it to be that. The best thing was to leave individual cases to the judgement of the medical professional. We have got abortion on demand; I have taken the rap for it. It is something I regret.”
(Robin Millhouse in an interview with Rex Jory in SA Weekend 2014)
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your grace to help. Today, we humble ourselves and pray and seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways of aborting our generations since 1969 in our nation. We confess our corporate sin and ask for Your mercy and justice for the unborn in Australia.
Lord, we ask that You raise up leaders like Moses to free our nation from this evil practice. Lord, call forth ones like Gideon to tear down the high altars of human sacrifice through abortion in Australia. Lord, You have heard the cries of the blood of the innocent in our nation, and only the blood of your Son Yeshua our deliverer can save us. Lord, do what it takes to close the gates to abortion on demand, we pray. Lord, raise up many voices to cry out for justice for the unborn. In Jesus’ powerful name, Amen.
Prayer Points
- Today, pray for many more righteous leaders and advisors in every profession that have a deep conviction of the horror of abortion in Australia. Raise up those like William Wilberforce, men and women of faith and stamina, to win the fight for the ending of abortion.
- We pray for every state and territory of Australia to come together to stand for life and for the church to rise up and “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 11 February and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, and for other states to join in and hold rallies or walks in their cities.
These three current Pro-Life Issues before Parliaments:
- Pray that the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 be passed speedily in 2023. This Bill will protect babies who are currently, in most states of Australia, being left to die after a failed abortion. This protection for such babies is currently law in New South Wales (2019) and South Australia (2021) as amendments to the state Termination of Pregnancy Acts. This Federal Bill, if passed, will make this legislation National. Pray for protection for the three Federal Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party), Matthew Canavan (National Party) and Ralph Babet (United Australia Party) who presented this Bill on 30 November 2022.
- On 28 September 2022, the Federal Senate referred an Inquiry into Universal Access to Reproductive Healthcare (abortion) to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs. This enquiry is all about broadening abortion access and entrenching it into federal law, overriding state laws. Pray that the Lord stops this from occurring.
- The passing in South Australia of the Statutes Amendment (Loss of Fetus) Amendment Bill 2022. Presented by MLC Sarah Game (One Nation). This bill would acknowledge the loss of an in-utero baby due to a criminal act, such as assault of the mother or dangerous driving — offences in their own right. This Bill is about justice and recognition of a life lost. Sadly abortion is not recognised as a criminal offence, but this bill will for the first time recognise the personhood of the unborn child.
Pray that abortion will not increase in Australia. The ACT Government has announced it will provide free abortions from 2023. There are also calls for taxpayers to fund abortions nationwide, and for nurses to be allowed to give out abortion pills.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.

Earlier this month, Robbie Katter introduced a disallowance motion seeking to halt the LNP’s regulation change to allow midwives to prescribe the abortion pill. One issue sits at the very heart of the matter — that Health Minister Tim Nicholls failed to address.

As they say in the 12 Step programmes, “ denial ain’t just a river in Egypt “.
The reason so many do not know what an abortion actually is, what is actually involved, is because we do not want to know such horror. In this state of mind it is easy for the pro abortion activists who now permeate all of the education, health and political disciplines, to become the Pied Piper to us all as they lead us into Satan’s hell.
We can do better! We must do better and with the grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we will do better.
