Mercy and Grace to Help

Day 9: Mercy and Grace to Help

30 January 2023

3.6 MINS

We now pray for the very real visible effects of abortion on women. The argument for aborting life in the womb sounds empowering to women and supposedly promotes fierce protection of women’s health, but there is no denying its results — babies growing in the seclusion of their mother’s womb end up being destroyed, their innocent blood being shed. The trauma and pain of having an abortion often lasts a lifetime.

What is rarely mentioned are the not-so-rare physical effects of abortion on the mother’s body. She may suffer sleep deprivation (nightmares), crying uncontrollably if an abortion is mentioned or on hearing a baby cry. After taking abortion pills, she may suffer excruciating pain with bleeding for weeks — that may necessitate a blood transfusion. Serious bacterial infection is another very real possibility. The risk of failure of the abortion pill (including continuing pregnancy and incomplete abortion) occurs in up to 7% of cases prior to 63 days gestation — more trauma for the pregnant woman. In such cases, a surgical procedure is recommended.

Anecdotal, real-life evidence reports other physical/visible effects can include sexual dysfunction, insatiable desire to replace the baby, and hormone changes with possible links to breast cancer. In some cases, infertility may occur from the scraping of the uterine wall.

Great numbers of women who regret having had an abortion identify with this verse:

“I hear the screams of anguish, weeping, and wailing in Ramah.
Rachel is weeping uncontrollably for her children.
And she refuses to be comforted, because they are dead and gone.”
~ Matthew 2:18 (TPT)

Premature Death

A record linkage study of more than 1.1 million pregnancies, including all Finnish women of childbearing age between 1987 to 2000, found within one year, an average six times increased suicide rate associated with abortion compared to women who gave birth. The increased risk of death by accident and homicide was four and ten times respectively.

There is powerful help for women who have gone down the road of abortion — that help comes from Jesus Christ, Who freely gives to all who believe.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
~ Hebrews 4:15-16

Prayer

Father, we come to Your Throne of Grace again today, and we bring the women of our nation who are suffering the physical effects of choosing an abortion. Lord, You are the healer and restorer Who works miracles on women, like the one who had suffered for twelve years of excessive bleeding (Luke 8:43-48).

Lord, graciously give the gift of faith to women who need Your healing touch today. Let them receive Your blessing in every part that has been damaged and may they hear Your words of affirmation:

And He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your confidence and trust in Me) has made you well! Go (enter) into peace (untroubled, undisturbed well-being).’
(Luke 8:48 AMPC)

Let Your mercy flow to the post-abortion damaged women and heal them.
In Jesus’ precious Name we pray, Amen.

Prayer Points

  • Ask for great grace to abound to women who are contemplating an abortion, and those who have had one, to hear wise counsel. May the Holy Spirit lead women to a place of deep conviction, to seek our Lord and find Him, and be led by Him to miraculous healing and restoration that becomes a catalyst to help other women.
  • We pray for every state and territory of Australia to come together to stand for life! For hearts to be awakened and every Christian to rally to rescue the unborn as the church rises up to “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 11 February and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, and for other states to join in and hold rallies or walks in their cities.

These three current Pro-Life Issues before Parliaments:

  • Pray that the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 be passed speedily in 2023. This Bill will protect babies who are currently, in most states of Australia, being left to die after a failed abortion. This protection for such babies is currently law in New South Wales (2019) and South Australia (2021) as amendments to the state Termination of Pregnancy Acts. This Federal Bill, if passed, will make this legislation National. Pray for protection for the three Federal Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party), Matthew Canavan (National Party) and Ralph Babet (United Australia Party) who presented this Bill on 30 November 2022.
  • On 28 September 2022, the Federal Senate referred an Inquiry into Universal Access to Reproductive Healthcare (abortion) to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs. This enquiry is all about broadening abortion access and entrenching it into federal law, possibly overriding state laws. Pray that the Lord stops this from occurring.
  • The passing in South Australia of the Statutes Amendment (Loss of Fetus) Amendment Bill 2022. Presented by MLC Sarah Game (One Nation). This bill would acknowledge the loss of an in-utero baby due to a criminal act, such as assault of the mother or dangerous driving — offences in their own right. This Bill is about justice and recognition of a life lost. Sadly abortion is not recognised as a criminal offence, but this bill will for the first time recognise the personhood of the unborn child.

Pray that abortion will not increase in Australia. The ACT Government has announced it will provide free abortions from 2023. There are also calls for taxpayers to fund abortions nationwide, and for nurses to be allowed to give out abortion pills.

    Tears…
Oh God help us all to comprehend what is going on.
May we be a bridge of healing and salvation.

I was once ashamed that I could not face reality. I remained so for many years and tried everything imaginable….to be different.
Now a life time later I understand that facing the evil in our world requires the grace of God. And God asks us to freely, choose Him. No coercion no lies we must say yes or remain separated from Him and His love forever. The very thought of such separation is unthinkable.
    The original Separation Anxiety.
