Day of Prayer for Israel, Australia and Australian Indigenous People
We are calling for prayer for Israel, Australia and our Australian Indigenous people at this critical time. Join us for a day of prayer this Sunday on Zoom.
This is a time of great unrest in our nation and internationally. Our news reports are filled with tragic and devastating reports from the Israel-Hamas conflict. Our nation needs to find a unifying way forward after the 14 October referendum and healing for Indigenous Australians.
As a result, Canberra Declaration is holding 12 continuous hours of prayer on Zoom from 9 AM–9 PM (AEST) this Sunday, 29 October. We are calling for prayer for Israel, Australia and our Australian Indigenous people.
Prayer for the Israel-Hamas Conflict
Psalm 46:6–7 records, “Nations rage, kingdoms topple”. But we mustn’t be disheartened, because
“the earth melts when He lifts his voice. The Lord of Armies is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.”
Our recent Daily Declaration article called for 21 days of prayer for the people of Israel and Gaza. The video below outlines this “Revelation 12:11” call to pray at 12 noon each day for 11 minutes.
The situation between Israel and Hamas remains critical. Israeli hostages remain bound in Gaza. An Israeli ground invasion into Gaza to eliminate Hamas is imminent. There have been anti-semitic uprisings around the world.
The spiritual battle against Israel (e.g. Rev 12:13) is an obvious demonstration of the reality of biblical faith – and a clear call to pray. As Psalm 46:9 reminds us,
“He [God] makes wars cease throughout the earth. He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces.”
Prayer for Australia
The nations look to human wisdom for solutions. But we look to the infinite resources of our mighty and wise God.
As long as Australia searches for solutions outside of God, answers will remain superficial and frustratingly fleeting. Our nation is in desperate need of an awakening to God. Jesus is our only hope.
Our recent Daily Declaration article, “‘Jesus is the Way Forward’: Indigenous Christian Leaders Speak Following the Referendum” highlights Indigenous leaders who are at the forefront of calling the Church to be that channel of hope!
In our recent podcast, Indigenous Christian leader Petrina Neufeld marvellously points out the way forward for our nation: the cross. If you haven’t been able to watch it yet, please do so below!
This Sunday is a call to greater intercession, unity and hope. Our nation and the nations desperately need it!
Please join us this Sunday for this critical three-fold call to pray for:
- The peace of Jerusalem and protection and awakening for Israel. Psalm 122:6
- An awakening for Australia. Isaiah 64:1
- Healing for the Indigenous people of Australia. Isaiah 61:1–7
Holding this day on a Sunday means that many of us will have commitments to our local family of believers. Your church must be the first priority. After that, we invite you to come on Zoom anytime during the day as you are able to.
