Queensland Labor Rests Re-election Chances on State-Ownership, in Socialist Petrol Price Pitch
Queensland Labor are lobbying for more socialism, and hoping the Sunshine State soaks up the sales pitch.
Pimped as a saviour for cost-of-living pressures, Premier Steven Miles seems to be selling the century-old snake oil “cure for socialism, is even more socialism” selling point.
Alongside a litany of hand-outs — and, to his credit, some reductions in state fees — Miles announced plans for twelve state-owned and state-run petrol stations.
The election promise was made public early this week.
Declaring that more socialism would help encourage more capitalism, Premier Miles said that the plan would be enacted in October if Queensland Labor is re-elected.
Features and benefits of the socialist plan to sell petrol from state-run stations supposedly include “a fair price, increased competition, and more choice.”
Miles’ lockdown-loving government will also “ban petrol stations from raising their price more than once a day.”
As well as “require petrol stations to release price changes a day in advance.”
State Control
Labor’s trial run of full-blown Communism would “cap price increases to 5 cents per day.”
We will also:
Ban petrol stations from raising their price more than once a day.
Require petrol stations to release price changes a day in advance.
Cap price increases to no more than 5 cents a day, as part of a trial with the RACQ.

The plan has the support of the RACQ, which listed capping petrol prices as one of its Top 10 Election Priorities.

Miles’ comrade, two portfolio multi-tasking protégé Meaghan Scanlon, MP for housing, local government, and planning – also Minister for Public Works – talked up the tyranny, stating,
“We will do whatever we can to bring prices down.”
The household budget of Queensland families is our top priority, and we’ve heard how much the cost of fuel is adding up.
We will do whatever we can to bring prices down.

State-owned petrol stations are Scanlon’s second batch of Communist candy enticing voters to re-elect Queensland Labor.
Miles’ petrol plan sits squarely alongside control measures said to be about solving Queensland Labor’s self-inflicted COVID economy crisis.
Hamfisted
The Homes for Queenslanders housing plan aims to deliver “53,500 social homes across the state.”

This all coincides with Scanlon’s state buy-in promise for new homeowners.
A proposal she submitted for consideration in May this year.
The minister for socialist housing proposed a 30-40% state ownership stake in 8,000 homes for those looking to buy for the first time.
According to the information easily sourced from the Queensland government websites,
“eligible homebuyers will receive support to purchase their home with an equity contribution of up to 40 per cent for new homes and 30 per cent for existing homes.”
The standard 20% deposit will be reduced to just 2% under the state-owned “big build” plan.
“Home buyers will need a minimum two per cent deposit to participate in the scheme.”
“Up to 10,000 households can benefit nationally each year,” explained Scanlon.
As SBS suggested, the doubling-down on socialism, in order to solve a crisis created by socialists, is the result of Queensland Labor trailing the LNP in polling.
Critics have been quick to call out the sugar-coated voter bribery.
Queensland’s LNP Shadow Minister Treasurer, David Janetzki, described the latest ersatz Communist commitment as chaos.
Using comments attributed to Queensland Labor Deputy Cameron Dick, Janetzki pointed out on X that the State ‘has no legislative or constitutional authority to regulate prices.’
Queensland needs calm and methodical leadership.
Instead we are getting desperate announcements from Steven Miles that his own Deputy has already ruled out.
We are seeing chaos at the top of the decade old Labor government and it’s Queenslanders that are paying for it #qldpol pic.twitter.com/G45tRbq4hF

Notably, Dick proved himself to be rank n’ file Labor in June, when he cut and pasted propaganda straight from Australian Labor’s “risky reactor” double standards.
Queensland Doctor William Bay, who has been fighting for his career since COVID, rightfully remarked,
‘[Labor’s] interference in private business will force small operators out of business and drive up prices in the long run.’

Others astutely drew on how Qld Labor’s petrol price crisis solutions clashed directly with its Climate Communism catastrophism.
Gobsmacked, the Australian Financial Review called Queensland Labor’s price control proposals “extraordinary“.

Shocked by this proposed State monopoly which will put small businesses out of business , so, the Govt. can raise prices of petrol as often as they like and by as much as they like . Surely illegal ?
