Four-time Olympic gold medallist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone finally wrapped up her 2024 competition season following her first-place 400m win in Belgium.

“McLaughlin-Levrone was unable to eclipse her personal best of 22.07, but she did manage to win in 22.40 and gain invaluable experience for next season,” the Olympics reported of her win at the Diamond League Final. She planned to give her “best” during the race and “end my season in beauty.”

“I am always striving for more, but, at the end of the day, I’m walking away happy and healthy,” she told the media after the race. “With this season we did, I really can’t complain. Plus, you have to leave something for the future.”

Gratitude

As the season concludes, McLaughlin-Levrone is grateful for how far God’s brought her.

“After last year, having to sit out due to injury, the mental build back to the world stage felt like a mountain of a climb,” she wrote on Instagram. “Yet as I reflect on the year, I’m so thankful for the ways in which God challenged every part of me to rely solely upon Him in some of the most gruelling moments.

“Some may look and wonder what challenges there could be just ‘playing a sport,’ trust me they exist. Just like any profession, it takes dedication, preparation, perseverance, and belief,” she continued.

“In it all, I will continue to do what I’ve always done, which is endeavour to improve. Use my platform to proclaim Christ, and redirect the glory back to God as much as I can. I have and will continue to strive to be a positive role model for young women and an agent of growth for our sport.

“I am forever grateful for this sport and the opportunities it has allotted me. These days won’t last forever,” she concluded. “Thank you to everyone single person who was on the journey with us this year.”

She’s looking “forward to rest, and quality time with those I love.”

Team USA track star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone secured two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and she is thanking God.

“What an honor, a blessing, and a privilege. I never want to take these moments for granted. In a week where my faith was tried, my peace wavered, and the weight of the world began to descend, God was beyond gracious,” she posted on Instagram.

“It’s always hard preparing for one moment you may or may not get back,” she continued. “In my mind what kept repeating were the words ‘Trust in Jesus.’ I didn’t know what the outcome would be, but I did know He was who I wanted to lead me through the journey. What an amazing journey it was!

“It never ceases to amaze me how powerful He is to help those who trust in Him overcome the battles within,” she added. “His word is sufficient, His promises hold true, and all the glory belongs to Him. At the end of the day it is FAR beyond gold. Once again, I am immensely grateful to have had the opportunity to represent my country on the world’s biggest stage. What a blessing.”
