Babies Born Alive Bill To Be Introduced on Monday: Here’s How to Watch, Support and Pray
Editor’s note: this article appeared in the lead up to the introduction of the Children Born Alive Protection Bill 2026. See the latest articles on the bill here and the Baby Booties display here.
On Monday, 17 August, the Hon. Llew O’Brien MP will introduce the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2026 into our Federal House of Representatives (lower house).
If passed, this bill will ensure that all babies born alive after an abortion are treated the same as any other baby — treated with dignity, and given appropriate medical care that will, in some instances, save their lives.
Mr O’Brien will introduce his bill between 10–11 am AEST on Monday morning. You are invited to watch and support this important moment.
You are invited to sit in our Federal Parliament’s public gallery as a demonstration of support for this bill and all babies born alive and left to die. (Queensland health data from 2022 reveals that, on average, one baby is born alive after an abortion every week — in that state alone.)
If coming to Canberra, please ensure that you arrive in plenty of time to go through security and be seated before 10 am in the House of Representatives Public Gallery. It is on a first-come, first-seated basis. Click here to find out more information about visiting Parliament House.
If you’re unable to make it to Canberra, you can watch the House of Representatives live on YouTube below.
Baby Booties Display in Canberra
The Australian Christian Lobby’s Baby Booties Display will grace the lawns of our Parliament House — also on Monday, 17 August.
Amazingly, Mr O’Brien and the ACL did not plan to have these two events occur on the same day (17 August). God has arranged this in his miraculous timing!
The Baby Booties Display will run from 11:30 am–1 pm. Every pair of tiny booties represents a life lost.
This time features invited speakers, including parliamentarians. Your prayer and support on the lawns of Parliament House is greatly appreciated.
