FBI Probes Far-Left Ideology, Transgender Links in Charlie Kirk Murder Plot
Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, appears to have been radicalised online, motivated by far-left beliefs, and romantically involved with his transgender roommate.
Tyler Robinson, 22, has been identified as the suspect in the assassination of conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk, after authorities said DNA evidence and witness testimony linked him to the fatal shooting at Utah Valley University last Wednesday.
Robinson surrendered to police in southern Utah after his father and a local minister intervened. Federal sources said he had earlier threatened to kill himself rather than face investigators, but after authorities released images of a person of interest, his family confronted him and he agreed to hand himself in.
DNA evidence has solidified the case against Robinson. FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox & Friends that DNA collected from a towel wrapped around the rifle believed to have been used in the shooting, as well as from a screwdriver linked to the investigation, matched Robinson.
“I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody,” Patel explained.
The FBI chief also confirmed details of Robinson’s premeditation during an appearance on Fox News.
“What was found, in terms of information, [was] a text message exchange where the suspect, specifically, stated that he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was going to do that,” Patel said.
The FBI Director added that when Robinson was asked why he’d killed Kirk, he told investigators, “Some hatred cannot be negotiated with.”
Patel confirmed that witness interviews corroborated Robinson’s admission that he shot Kirk. He also said the FBI has seized multiple electronic devices from Robinson and his romantic partner, including computers, laptops, gaming consoles, and cellphones.
Transgender Shooting Question Precedes Fatal Attack
Authorities are yet to confirm a motive, though emerging evidence offers clues to what may have driven the attack. As reported by Axios, investigators are currently probing whether the assassin believed Charlie Kirk’s views on gender were “hateful” towards transgender people.
The fatal shooting occurred during a Turning Point USA event attended by thousands of students. The last question asked of Kirk before he was shot was in relation to transgender shootings.
The student asked, “Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” Kirk replied, “Too many.”
The questioner then followed up by stating the precise number was five and asked about the total number of mass shootings in the United States over the past decade.
Kirk’s final words were, “Counting or not counting gang violence?” before a shot rang out. He fell to the ground and was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.
That student, Hunter Kozak, has since come forward, expressing sympathy for Kirk despite disagreeing with his politics. Reflecting on the tragic irony of the moment, Kozak said, “The point that I was trying to make is how peaceful the left was right before he got shot.”
While Kozak has not been accused of any wrongdoing, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino told Fox News that agents are reviewing whether anyone in the crowd — including the questioner — had knowledge of the plot.
“I don’t want to say conclusively right now if there was a connection or not,” Bongino said. “It’s not terribly uncommon for [Charlie Kirk] to get questions like that. However, we are looking into that.”

Bullet Etchings Signal Far-Left Indoctrination
According to the New York Post, the high-powered rifle round that killed Charlie Kirk carried an engraving reading, “Notices bulge OwO what’s this?” — a phrase with origins in certain internet subcultures. The Post explained:
“OwO” is an emoticon of a cute face with the Os as the eyes and the w as a mouth or nose. It can be used as a way of flirting, or in a sardonic way to troll others…
“Notices bulge” is a reference to male sex organs — and it is widely used in both furry and trans circles, according to a scan of recent usage.

The Post cited research showing transgender identification is vastly more common in the furry community than in the wider US adult population, with 22 percent identifying as non-binary, genderqueer, or genderfluid.
Other rounds in Robinson’s rifle bore similarly niche, ideological inscriptions, including the Italian anti-fascist song lyric, “Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao,” the taunt “Hey fascist! Catch!” referencing the video game Helldivers 2, and the mocking phrase, “If you read this, you are gay LMAO.”
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed writings on bullet casings of Charlie Kirk’s killer, Tyler Robinson:

Robinson’s Online Radicalisation
Tyler Robinson’s radicalisation into far-left ideology has been well documented.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox told reporters, “It’s very clear to us and to the investigators that this was a person who was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.”
He added that Robinson’s political leanings diverged from his conservative family’s views, and that he had spent extensive time in online communities, including Reddit and Discord, which likely reinforced these views.
“Clearly there was a lot of gaming going on,” Cox said, adding that friends reported Robinson had been active in “the deep, dark internet, the Reddit culture, and these other dark places.”
Family members likewise described Robinson as politically conservative in his youth but increasingly political over the last few years, including expressing open disdain for Charlie Kirk. The New York Post reports:
At a recent family dinner, Robinson had mused over the conservative activist’s first stop of his American Comeback tour at the Orem campus, which was about a three hour drive from the alleged sniper’s home.
The now-alleged shooter — who is not registered with any political party — had discussed how he “didn’t like” Kirk or “the viewpoints he had,” with a relative who responded that the now-slain 31-year-old Turning Point USA leader was “full of hate and spreading hate,” according to Cox and an affidavit.
More recently, Utah County District Attorney Jeff Gray told reporters that Robinson’s mother expressed concern that “over the last year or so, Robinson had become more political and had started to lean more to the left, becoming more pro gay and trans rights oriented.”

According to The Independent, Robinson confessed in a small Discord group chat shortly before being arrested: “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.”
Screenshots from the chat, verified by The New York Times, show Robinson joking about the manhunt and the FBI reward for his capture just hours after the shooting. One user wrote, “Tyler killed Charlie!!!!” to which Robinson replied, “My doppelganger’s trying to get me in trouble.”
When another user warned Robinson not to visit McDonald’s — a reference to far-left fugitive Luigi Mangione who fatally shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson — he replied, “Better also get rid of this manifesto and exact copy rifle I have lying around,” mocking the FBI investigation.
The Assassin’s Transgender Partner
At the time of the shooting, Robinson was sharing an apartment with Lance Twiggs, 22, in St George, Utah, about four hours from Utah Valley University where the shooting took place. According to the New York Post, Twiggs “is transgender — transitioning from male to female — and has been seen in social media pics wearing fur ears and other furry-adjacent garb”.
Multiple outlets have confirmed that Twiggs was romantically involved with Robinson. A neighbour of the pair told The Sun that he observed Twiggs and Robinson kissing approximately two weeks before the shooting.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed that Twiggs is Robinson’s romantic partner and described him as “extremely cooperative” with authorities, providing messages in which Robinson admitted to wrapping the rifle in a towel and stashing it in bushes near the Utah Valley University campus.
Cox also said the communications included instructions that the rifle would need to be retrieved, giving investigators critical insight into Robinson’s movements after the shooting.
Axios further reported that authorities initially sought to keep Twiggs’ transgender identity private due to his cooperation.
Text messages that were exchanged between Robinson and Twiggs immediately after the assassination show the killer calling Twiggs “my love” and reasoning that he killed Charlie Kirk because “I had enough of his hatred.”

Twiggs’ Online Footprint
According to a detailed report by independent journalist Andy Ngo, Lance Twiggs’ online activity indicates deep engagement in furry and trans-oriented subcultures.
On Steam, Twiggs used the username “fluxalotl,” while Reddit and TikTok accounts under “lancelott3” and “flux” show active participation in trans advocacy communities, including the r/4tran subreddit.
According to Ngo:
In November 2024, Twiggs posted about his anxiety with injecting cross-sex hormones. Replying to a thread on injection pain, he wrote: “seriously. sometimes it’s just muscle memory, sometimes i gotta get buzzed on something so i’m not too anxious about it.”
Ngo continues:
Around the same time, he responded to a now-deleted post lamenting about the re-election win of Donald Trump and what it means for transgender people.
“Trump winning has motivated me to finally fix my life,” the 4tran post read. “I won’t let the idiot cisfags who want me to be miserable win. I’ll be independent, fit, happy, and trans and they can’t stop me.”
Twiggs responded: “Honestly same, i realized after a bit of dooming that even if i was overall hiding from the local public now, my life socially wouldn’t really change, which was more depressing than any election lol. So, working on that as my new year’s resolution.”
Twiggs was raised in a devout Mormon family but reportedly left the faith. On Reddit, he said he had been expelled from the family home after refusing spiritual intervention. It has also been widely reported that Robinson grew up in a strongly Mormon household.
Commenting on their respective backgrounds, Ngo explained, “In my reporting on Antifa, I’ve seen a common phenomenon where far-left extremists who come from conservative families or areas are more violent, and more radical. They feel they have to make up for it because of where they came from.”
Authorities Probe Links to Far-Left Groups
Federal and state authorities are investigating whether left-wing groups in Utah had advance knowledge of or involvement in Robinson’s alleged plot.
Officials are examining a range of online and local communities linked to Robinson, including pro-trans online groups and “furries” on platforms like Steam, as well as the far-left organisation Armed Queers Salt Lake City, which deleted its Instagram account shortly after the shooting.
The group’s online membership form listed core principles including “the armed and militant protection of queer and trans communities,” “trans liberation,” and “an organised revolutionary movement.”
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino indicated that investigators are looking into whether Robinson may have been “aided and abetted” by an “extended network,” potentially including individuals who provided material support, financial help, or knowledge of his plans without reporting them.
“We’ll also be dropping a lot of paper, a lot of subpoenas out there, to take a look to see if there was any extended network,” Bongino said.
The FBI is also probing a series of social media accounts that hinted at foreknowledge of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, some of which are linked to transgender users who followed Robinson’s romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, on TikTok, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
Many large social media accounts are actively circulating the false claim that Robinson was a far-right Christian nationalist, while dismissing reports that his roommate and romantic partner is transgender.
Taxpayer-funded ABC News has mentioned the latter detail only in passing, and framed it as a claim made by the Utah Governor, rather than a finding announced by investigators.
The public broadcaster has described Charlie Kirk — whose funeral will be held on Sunday — as “a pro-Trump, pro-gun, anti-Islam, anti-abortion and anti-transgender Christian nationalist who also endorsed a range of conspiracy theories”.
