‘We Want Wildfires of Revival’: Felicity and Nic Taylor Complete Their 2,500 km Prayer Trek

10 October 2025

7.3 MINS

In April this year, we set out on a journey that was far beyond us and our ability to complete on our own.

Yet what began as a crazy dream only a few years ago, suddenly sprang to life as we surrendered impossibilities to God and said, “Yes, please send us.”

We had not long moved to a fantastic job in the Kimberley. It was remote, but it came with great benefits, skill development, a promise for progression, and good pay.

We had never been better off financially. However, only a couple of months in, we felt more than a nudge: Leave our job and house? Give it all up to walk across the country?

God was getting our attention in a big way, and we couldn’t ignore it. We felt under-qualified, crazy and out of our depth, but knew we had to do it.

Burden for Revival

Our burden for outback Australia was the whole reason we were out here in the first place. We wanted to see wildfires of revival, floods of spiritual renewal and God’s people living fully alive in the truth of the gospel across this land.

So, from our point of view, if praying and walking across the very heart of the nation this was a teeny tiny piece in preceding a great move of God in our country, then this prayer walk was a no brainer.

The people of Australia were bought with the blood of Jesus, and it’s well past the time to claim this nation back for him.

We were suddenly neck deep in preparations: planning, culling belongings, and mapping out a five-month-long, 2,500 km walk across the heart of Australia to pray for our nation. Husband and wife, four children, our two dogs, and a donkey as our pack animal. It felt completely… wild.

Warwick Marsh and the Canberra Declaration reached out to us, wanting to let others know what we were planning to do. The result was this article and video interview which gives you an insight into our early planning before setting out on the 2,500 km journey.

First Steps of Faith

The first few weeks were an intense crash course in how to actually walk across the outback of Australia, and how to live full time in a caravan without power and a constant supply of water.

The purpose was to walk and pray, of course, but doing this as a family of six required logistics to keep our family life going.

This was quite quickly sorted out with jobs set out for each person and everyone knowing their role. It was a complete team effort, and each one was a very important part. Felicity set out each day with Shilah, our donkey, to walk and pray anywhere between 20 and 30 kms each day.

The kids would help Nic pack up camp, drive on 20-30kms up the road with him, set up camp again, do chores and schoolwork, and repeat all over again the next day.

Nic would also be mapping out the next days’/weeks’ path, finding a suitable camping spot and calling cattle stations ahead to gain permission to walk through their land. Each day was big and full.

Most days we took communion together along the way, thanking God for restoration in this nation.

God’s Impressions to Felicity During Prayer

There were also many times where Felicity, while walking, would be prompted to stop and take communion or anoint the land with oil.

Communion during this walk looked a lot like declaring Jesus’ death and resurrection over this great southland, and thanking him for his forgiveness and healing that he paid for, and declaring his life, redemption and restoration over the people of Australia.

There were many instances where the donkey’s behaviour was peculiarly spotlighted to Felicity. She felt so impressed by this to pray for the people of Australia and particularly the Church in relation to this.

It quickly dawned on us that perhaps the donkey was more than just a pack animal, but a representation of the Church and God speaking through this donkey to grab our attention on things to pray.

Along the way we also prayed for God’s blessing over our nation and over the people.

As we met many passers-by and station owners, we had opportunity to pray over some of them, blessing them in their coming and their going, blessing the work of their hands, blessing them to know the joy of salvation. Blessing the generations to come, blessing their communities and regions.

As Felicity walked over this five-month period, the following five main points were highlighted to her.

  1. The need for repentance in our nation. This includes repentance for apathy and being completely lacklustre, for letting the flame of intimacy grow dim in our hearts, for looking away, for idols, for lack of prayer, and for idleness. There is so much more, but repentance in our nation is needed and absolutely necessary.
  2. Unity. How important unity is! How have we let ourselves become so divided? There is such division across our nation, but we believe the tide is turning. Now is the time for united churches and united hearts… one people under one God, moving as one body. Do we want to see revival in Australia? Then we need all hands on deck, working together – not against each other.
  3. The gospel needs to be shared and preached with boldness inside and outside of the church walls. Not pleasing carnal ears and hearts, not mixed with our own vain philosophies, not seeking our own worldly interest or advantage, but delivering the powerful word of God in its pure form – unmixed, untainted, uncorrupted. God’s word must burn upon our hearts so that we are unable to hold it in.
  4. The need for a willingness to surrender and yield to God.This surrender needs to be full, whole and complete. Obedience in everything, even when it’s odd. Boldness to count the cost of following God. It. Is. Costly. Will we let it be costly for us? Even in persecution? Will we desperately seek him daily as our bread?
  5. There’s a great returning coming. During the entire second half of walking across the heart of Australia, Felicity could hear the followings words resounding loudly in her spirit: “A great returning, a great returning, a great returning!”

We wholeheartedly believe that we are in the beginning stages in our nation of not only a great returning of God’s Spirit back to this great southland, but also of his people returning back to him. What an incredible time to be alive!

It has become clear to us in the last five months that the Lord is ready and waiting for his Church to step up and step out into the world. He wants us to be a light in the dark places of our communities, towns, suburbs and nation.

God has made this clear. He chose, at the dawn of history, to hand over the dominion of his creation to Adam. That means he is not going to step in and fix what we should be doing. He will act only when we fervently pray and the people turn to him.

But when we do turn to him, he will lead us. Jesus has been interceding for us for 2,000 years. He has been waiting for this ‘now’ time.

It is time for the Church of Australia to get out of our walls, out of our comfort zone, and out of our own expectations, and step into the glory that Jesus gave his life for.

He gave his life for us to live the kingdom, not just long for the kingdom. While the kingdom is on the other side of the veil, we can draw the kingdom of glory from one side of the veil into this earth-side of the veil.

The light of the kingdom will draw all men towards the king of kings. As we get closer and closer to the returning of our Lord, the veil seems to be getting thinner and thinner, with more and more spiritual events capturing the public eye.

Our Gratitude for All the Support

We are so grateful for the many countless people that have supported us in this journey, walking across outback Australia, praying for the people of our land, and for the land of our people.

It would be impossible to list off all the supporters and fellow joining prayer warriors. God knows everyone who has partnered and supported us. But we’d like to send a special thank you to Warwick Marsh, Kym Farnik the whole Canberra Declaration team who supported us immensely in many ways.

Extra special thanks need to go to our pastors Nathan and Mareesa Cunneen and our whole Beaches Church family in Townsville who supported us so well.

To our family members and friends, many of whom were part of the welcoming committee when we arrived in Yaraka, Qld – a massive thanks.

We were humbled to receive a recognition award from Mac Finlayson on behalf of the Canberra Declaration. The wording on the plaque summarises our mission: To Felicity Taylor and family: For walking 2,500 kms across the Australian Outback, from the Kimberly, WA, to Yaraka, Qld, staring on 20 April and finishing on 12 September, 2025, praying for spiritual renewal and a harvest of souls.

The Scripture verse etched on the award, taken from Ezekiel 22:30, is well-known. We trust these words are applicable to us and all who partnered and supported us: “I looked for someone among them who would… stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land.”

Humbled by the Response

Over the past five months we have seen people join us in prayer for Australia from every state and territory in Australia, from New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Japan, Europe, across America, and Canada. Many followed us on Facebook and Instagram. Others saw our story on The Daily Declaration.

The Canberra Declaration created a short nine-minute documentary about our prayer walk which received almost 13,000 views. They then invested considerable resources in a paid Facebook campaign featuring these promotional videos which were seen by almost 1.2 million people. To say we are staggered by this response would be a massive understatement.

Here are just five comments from thousands of newly inspired Christians who have a new vision for prayer.

“I’m setting an alarm on my phone to pray for the awakening of the Body of Christ all over the great southland each day. Let us pray in unity and see the blessing of the Lord.” ~ Kima Wareham

“Literally in tears watching this. God is faithful to those who seek him diligently. God bless the seeds of endless blessing.” ~ Tubuna Nathan Salaba

“Go Felicity! We’re watching you from our little suburbs in regional Australia and championing you on, dear girl. God bless that husband of yours and those kids. It’s a great team effort. Hugs, prayers and blessings for the journey. We’re all here hidden in our prayers and supplications before the mighty throne of God for this nation.” ~ Beverely Heidenreich

“Wonderful idea. God bless you. I’ll start praying for my suburb too while walking. Thank you for posting this to inspire others.” ~ Lidia CR

“Wonderful! I will be prayer walking my town.” ~ Merryl Marsh

We praise God for awakening our hearts and uniting us all together in prayer for this great southland of the Holy Spirit.

With blessings,

Nic and Felicity Taylor

That’s very nice .Certainly the stench of corruption has reached all the way to heaven.
But the future is described by John in his revelation .

You touched heaven and changed earth – an amazing feat!
Reminds me of Ephesians 3:10 – “God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places”.
What God can do with a woman and family that do the impossible because He said to!
