The Rise in Australia of Left-Wing Violence
Recent events in Melbourne have exposed the increasing level of left-wing violence in Australia. In a powerful statement to the media, acting commander Wayne Cheeseman tipped out a box of large rocks onto the floor and then said:
This is what was thrown at police today, and I think that Melbourne has had a gutful.
I look on the social media streaming platforms of some of these issue motivated groups who are saying that police used excessive force… the fact was, these were being thrown at police.
Bottles filled with shards of glass were being thrown at the police. Rotten fruit was being thrown at police. Bins were put on fire. Flags were on fire, and I think that really, enough’s enough.
The disruption to Melbourne, to the general public who want to come into our fine city, the disruption to businesses, we really need to find an answer as to what we do.
These are people are coming not to protest. I heard the police commissioner talk about protesters having compassion and care for others. This has certainly not what has been displayed today.
People came to pick a fight with the police, and the people who came to pick a fight with the police were the issue motivated groups on the Left.
I can tell you that the March for Australia group were peaceful, they were engaging, they listened to our instructions, they did what they were told, and they protested by example.
🚨BREAKING: Victoria Police have explicitly condemned “the left” for coming into the CBD to pick a fight with officers, saying force was used because large concrete stones and other dangerous objects were thrown at them.

That must have been hard for the ABC to report. But as we’ve come to unfortunately expect, it wasn’t long before parts of the media regurgitated talking points of the aforementioned leftist issue-motivated groups. As one journalist asked:
Organisers of the anti-fascist element of yesterday’s protest put out a statement late yesterday saying that police attacked members of their march, what would you be your response to that interpretation of what happened yesterday?
No Credibility
Victorian Police Association boss Wayne Gatt was having none of it, though, and responded as follows:
Nobody believes you. You have no credibility. Maybe turn on the TV and have a look at the pictures as they make your statement out to be quite false, to be quite honest.
Look, I think that the majority of Victorians see this for what it is. Their sick to the back teeth of this sort of behaviour, this sort of rubbish from these groups.
If you’re so peaceful, if you’re just trying to make a peaceful point, then why come in with bags of railway ballast? Why are you throwing bottles with glass shards in them? Why are you throwing fruit, eggs, projectiles at the police? Why are you burning things in the streets? Rubbish bins, effigies of police?
Are you serious? Do those actions match those words or commitments? It’s utter rubbish and we should start calling this out for what it is to be quite frank.
These people should have no credibility in our society. None whatsoever and we should all stop—governments included—facilitating their bad behaviour by pandering to them with our language.
While Jacinta Allan, the Premier of Victoria, condemned the violence, she could not bring herself to give them a label, instead referring to them more generically as “some… a small number”. Really… that’s all? No identifying ideological features that they might have in common?
As everyone else knows, though, Left-wing “issue-motivated groups” are increasingly the perpetrators of violence, not the victims. Not only that, but everyone in Australia has had enough. Victoria Police can see and identify it for what it is, even if Jacinta Allan cannot, and the rest of the country, with the computer monitor or TV screen, can as well.

Thanks for a great article Mark.
There are none so blind as those that will not see. When the images on the screen and what we see do not match the narrative and what we are told there is a problem. Perhaps by telling us lies (is there a law against misinformation?) and repeating them often enough the leaders and media hope to convince us to believe them.
Well done to the Victorian Police force for the job they do with little recognition or support from the public. If you see a copper today thank them for the job they do. It seems there are far too many who would rather act “peacefully” and pelt them with rocks and other items.
