I Can Only Imagine 2: An Overcoming Faith Displayed on the Big Screen
The highly anticipated I Can Only Imagine 2 is coming to Australian (and NZ, Fiji and PNG) cinemas this Thursday, 5 March!
The movie focusses on the difficulties of life, and presents the positive message that whether God delivers us from our present trials or not, we can continue to say, “It is well with my soul”.
The film has already taken the number 3 position at the US box office on its opening weekend. It promises to make a big impact on all who see it during its Oceania release next week.

I Can Only Imagine 2: Based on a True Story from MercyMe
Following on from the incredibly successful 2018 movie, I Can Only Imagine (US$83 million in box-office returns), the sequel tells the true story of MercyMe’s lead singer and founder Bart Millard.
Christian band MercyMe soared to prominent fame after the 1999 music release, “I Can Only Imagine“. While the song topped the charts and became the number 1 Christian single, public applaud does not equal personal wellbeing.
With family health difficulties (Bart’s young son, Sam, had previously suffered a seizure and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes) and family relationships under strain, Bart meets Tim Timmons, a Christian musician.
Tim attempts to write a song inspired by the famous hymn, “It Is Well with My Soul”, first penned by Horatio Spafford. Horatio wrote the hymn after tragically loosing his four daughters, who drowned at sea after the S.S. Ville du Havre they were travelling on sank on November 22, 1873.
Bart discovers there’s more to Tim lurking beneath the surface than he realised, when, in 2001, Tim reveals he was diagnosed with incurable cancer. It is during these hardships that their Christian faith shines through.
The pair went on to write the song, “Even If” — inspired by Horatio’s hymn — during this time. With 135 million views on YouTube, the lyrics and music of “Even If” are indeed an inspiration.

While we won’t spoil any more of the storyline, we can tell you that Tim is still alive today. In a recent interview he revealed,
“There’s still tumours on my liver wearing out my heart, they say. But I was given five years to live 25 years ago and I… today, I woke up again…
“And then tomorrow if I wake up again, giddy up.”
We highly recommend this retelling of a true story of difficulty and triumph. Take your friends and family to this quality, inspiring film. While many people who have yet to trust in Jesus won’t darken the doors of a church, they will attend the local cinema!

I took my son to watch this movie on Tuesday in our local theatre. we both were moved to tears. A powerful testimony of human emotions and God’s faithfulness to lead through storms of life when we trust Him completely!
