Day 19: Spiritual Warfare
Intention
To understand the spiritual warfare that rages for revival and souls
Scripture
“In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel. And they ravaged the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.”
– 2 Samuel 11:1
Reflection
Dear friends and intercessors, the month of October is the middle of spring. It’s a significant time when kings (in our case we are the people who carry spiritual and kingdom authority) go to battle in the heavens.
In scripture, the reason kings go to war in springtime is that it’s the season of the year when new life is born (for example, when new lambs are born). Jesus likens us to lambs or sheep. Springtime is a season of expectation for revival, for newborn Christians to come into the Kingdom of God. Right now, the expectation for revival is global — all around the world intercessors are praying for a mighty move of God and a great harvest of souls.
We need to be vigilant, and be on our guard, because there is a real enemy. Jesus described Satan’s character as a thief who comes to ‘kill, steal, and destroy people’s lives’. You see, God loves people more than anything, as written in John 3:16. But the enemy’s plan is the opposite – there is spiritual warfare for souls.
The harvest for revival is ripe and ready. Jesus said, ‘the labourers are few’, but we all need to be involved in the spiritual warfare for souls and have a sense of responsibility, asking God to lead us with wisdom to go to war. We need to believe for revival in our nation.
Leaders also need to be involved in going into spiritual warfare and not be like King David, who sent troops off to battle while he himself got distracted. Many leaders are happy for intercessors to pray, but they themselves stay at home and get distracted by other things.
As we pray for revival across Australia, let’s believe for a great harvest. Harvest time is an exciting time. People are busy, especially in small country towns that grow crops when it’s harvest time. They can see that whatever seeds were planted are ready for harvest, and in some places, they work around the clock all day and night because the harvest is so great.
Australia, this is our time of revival. Look! The fields are white for harvest (John 4:35). It doesn’t matter what field you’re in: prepare to pray, protect, and defend your harvest, because there is an enemy who wants to kill, steal, and destroy people’s lives before they are born again into the kingdom of God.
Remember, the Spirit is upon you to heal broken hearts and set captives free, to open prison doors and cause the blind to see. I believe we can do this with the grace and anointing of the Lord.

Prayer
Father, we praise and thank You. We pray for Australia throughout this month of October. Father, we thank You for Your Holy Spirit. You know everything about this nation. You know the families, the cities, the communities, and our government. We thank You for Your omnipresence, today. We thank You that You have power over this nation. We ask You today that You would not only heal our land, but we ask You for the wind of Your Spirit to blow over Australia.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
