Call to Prayer in October 2022 for Revival
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord. We invite you to join us for the 31 days of Prayer and Fasting in October 2022.
Today, we see an immense need for spiritual renewal in our nation. Psalm 27 expresses the desire we need to have in our hearts and follow.
One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after, enquire for and [insistently] require, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord, and to meditate, consider and enquire in His temple.
For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.
Wait and hope for and expect the Lord, be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait and hope for and expect the Lord.
~ Psalm 27:4-5, 14 (AMP)
It is a real mark of maturity when we get to the place of wanting to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ 24/7. Like any relationship, we start with small periods of time with people we are attracted to.
The difference with the Lord Jesus is that if we push Him away like the Shulammite girl did, it is not long before we desire His presence again. I remember one time when God was pouring His presence into me.
I had to ask Him to stop because it was too much for me. Since then, there have been times when I have wondered if I did the right thing and whether I could ask Him to do it again. So I do, but the experience is never the same.
We know God wants us to be His children and loves it when we spend time with Him. One of the blessings of being on your own is that you can practise being in His presence. As I have the Lord Jesus Christ to talk to all the time, I am rarely lonely. Still, at times I can be distracted by the puzzles in the newspaper or my mobile phone.

Earlier in my Christian life, I felt that we Christians were like three-year-olds praying: Give me, give me, give me. Thankfully, many of us have progressed to being able to praise God and give thanks for the blessings we enjoy as well as the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I remember the Lord Jesus standing in my lounge as I sat on the couch. He came to comfort me after I had been hurt by something my husband had said. The hurts the Lord Jesus experienced were more than most of us experience, so we know He understands and has taken those hurts on Himself.
I am sure that those in the persecuted church have a stronger awareness of His presence than we do and appreciate His comfort even more.
We learn in the book of Daniel that God can protect us in times of trouble. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego went through the fiery furnace without harm. Daniel 3:24-25 says:
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counsellors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?”
They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”
25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
Daniel spent the night in the lion’s den without being harmed. Daniel 6:19-23 says:
19 Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions.
20 And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
21 Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever!
22 My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”
23 Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So, Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.
How much more will we be protected now we have the Holy Spirit living in us? He is there to guide and direct us.
Jonathon Cahn reminds us that in the Holy of Holies it is just God and me in that secret place — nothing and no one else.
During the month of October, we are seeking to do the following:
- To worship Jesus and give extravagant praise to God. Hebrews 12:28-29
- Pray that the Lamb who was slain might receive a reward for His suffering. Revelation 5:6-14
- Pray for Revival for Australia and for millions to find Christ. Isaiah 64:1-2
Watch this video below to give you more information:
On 14-17 October, we will also be running 72 Hours of Praise, Prayer & Worship to God for Revival in Australia on Zoom. During that time, we will be partnering with an outreach event that Tony Baines is co-ordinating in Nimbin, Northern NSW.
Will you join us for the Month of Prayer and Fasting for Revival? You can participate individually, as a family, or as a church community. Fast in a way that is challenging to you personally — the specifics are completely up to you.
Every morning in October you can receive a daily devotional, written by a Christian leader, in your inbox. Every night, please consider joining us at 8PM each night (NSW Time) to pray on Zoom.

Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, Father God and Holy Spirit.
We praise You with extravagant praise and thank You that we can be with You all the time.
Thank You for Your love, Your protection and Your presence with us. We worship You, Almighty God.
We thank You for our government and ask that the ones that are to be elected in November in Victoria and the USA will consist of many people who love and serve You and will deliver godly government because the government is on Your shoulders, Lord Jesus.
We pray that the Lamb Who was slain might receive a reward for His suffering when revival comes to Australia and the world, and millions find Christ.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
