A Million Women Movement Marks Second Anniversary: “Look What the Lord Has Done! Ishtar Has Fallen!”
Two years after A Million Women gathered in Washington for ten hours of prayer and fasting, organisers point to victories they believe reflect God’s answers to intercession.
Two years ago, the Million Women (AMW) prayer movement was born.
On October 12, 2024, in Washington, DC, 250,000 Americans, along with some Australians, turned up to pray for ten hours of fasting, repentance, and prayer.
Over forty-two nationalities and an estimated 10 million others joined the event online.
A Global Movement of Esthers
Founded by revivalist Lou Engle and led by Laura Allred, the organisation aims to raise up women like Esther, who, through prayer, fasting, and leadership, shift the destiny of nations to prepare for the return of the Lord.
AMW’s goal is to create what organisers call “A global movement of Esthers.”
Its stated DNA is sevenfold:
- “The voices of righteous women reinforce righteous culture (Es. 4:14).”
- “We live with future generations in mind (Ps. 102: 18).”
- “Nations belong to the Lord (Ps. 2).”
- “We set the table for unity (Ps. 133, Ps. 68:1, John 17).”
- “Mass united prayer and fasting dismantles principalities (Dan. 9).”
- “Solemn assemblies shift national outcomes (Joel 2, Es. 4)”
- “Israel is central (Joel 3, Rom. 9-11).”
Nine Answers to Prayer
In a recent email to AMW supporters, Allred marked the anniversary by listing at least nine tangible answers to prayer.
Linking the dots back from October 2026 to AMW’s intercession in October 2024, Allred said that the Bible has been returned to public-school classrooms in Texas, and the US federal government officially recognised only two genders.
Additionally, federal DEI programs that support LGBTQ ideologies came to an end. Restrictions were placed on transgender athletes’ participation in women’s sports. The Supreme Court delivered victories for parental rights and Christian counsellors.
Allred added that detransitioners won cases against doctors who performed gender-transition procedures on them as minors, and major hospitals ended gender-transition medical interventions for minors.
Also, she said, federal abortion funding was restricted, and states took legal action to block abortion pills.
On social media, the AMW boss shared a two-year timeline, saying, “Look what the Lord has done! Ishtar has fallen!!!” (Read more here, here, here, and here).
Although self-evidently related, A Million Women was not a MAGA rally, which is why Allred, circa Psalm 51:17, properly gives full credit to God answering humble and contrite prayer, not just the election of Donald Trump.
As AMW wrote online, “What we did from the National Mall in Washington, DC, TWO YEARS AGO is still echoing across the nation and around the world!”
“What started that day, the Lord has carried across the globe!”
Australian Voices Recall a Day of Repentance
The Daily Declaration’s editor-in-chief, Warwick Marsh, was among the team of Australians at the DC event.
Reflecting on the first anniversary, he said, “I think they easily got to a million women praying on the day. It was mostly women. Probably about 80% of the people there were women.’”
Warwick added, “Thank God for praying mums, praying grandmothers, praying granddaughters and praying wives.”
He then asked, “Where would Australia be without these wonderful women? Where would America be without these wonderful women?”
When describing the day, Warwick said the AMW event was a day of solemn repentance that went from 9 am to 7 pm; 10 hours of non-stop prayer.
He also explained that AMW’s Washington, DC, event was funded largely by Christian Jews and non-Christian Jews, who believed in the prayers and the Esthers of God who were praying.
Tearing Down the Altar of Ishtar
Warwick then noted the significance of Messianic Jew Jonathan Cahn symbolically smashing the altar of Ishtar: the ancient Babylonian goddess.
About which Warwick said, “That’s expressed in the Bible as Astaroth, and you can find that there in the scriptures, but this goddess was a sex god, and unfortunately, our whole culture is worshipping sex.
“We’re sex crazy, we’re sex mad, we’re completely overtaken with these different thoughts, pornographies right across our nation, but you know the altar of Ishtar is coming down, and he smashed it up. Check it out.”
As Lou Engle wrote, “A million Esthers gathered on the DC Mall to cry out for the children. It was as if death had climbed through our windows. There, we took a stand for truth and mercy. There, we lifted up the blood of Jesus, declaring the victory of the cross over the powers.
“We tore down the altar of Ishtar!”
