NT Attorney General Chansey Paech Must Resign Over Alcohol Conflict of Interest
Chansey Paech held shares in a wholesale alcohol company that supplies drink to Alice Springs, all the while advocating for the region’s grog ban to be lifted.
I’ve seen a lot but even this has me shocked.
Just when you think the hypocrisy of Labor activists couldn’t get worse, along comes Northern Territory Deputy Chief Minister Chansey Paech.
If you haven’t seen the news, it’s been revealed that Paech held shares in a wholesale alcohol company that supplies grog to Alice Springs.
He held those shares at the same time as he was advocating for the grog ban in the region to be lifted.
Can you believe it?
The timing is damning.
According to The Australian, he purchased the shares in May 2022 just months before the NT Government refused to renew the grog ban.
He then divested the shares two days after then Chief Minister Natasha Fyles had to resign because of her own shares scandal.
To make matters worse, Paech is the Attorney General of the NT.
He’s the leading officer of the law in the Territory and he was potentially profiting off one of the greatest causes of crime and disorder.
This sort of stuff infuriates me.
Directly hurting the community you’re meant to help is an astonishing abuse of your privilege and the honour you’ve been given to be a legislator in an Australian parliament.
Paech needs to resign immediately.
His conduct is also typical of the self-serving posturing we get from left-wing Labor and Greens politicians who claim to advocate for Indigenous people.
He’s not actually interested in REAL outcomes, better policy, and accountability.
He’s just looking for the next grift that makes him look good and damn the people he serves.
It’s a disgrace that’s made me the most angry I’ve been since some of the left’s conduct in the referendum.
And just like back then, I’m not going to shut up and stop defending my community.
Especially when they’re being taken advantage of by contemptible men like Chansey Paech.

In just on ten years our politicians have changed their ways from Barry O’Farrell resigning as NSW premier in 2014 after receiving a thank you card with an upmarket red wine that wasn’t ‘declared’ now an AG doesn’t note his conflict of interest.
