Things can change, and one never knows what surprises God might have up His sleeve for us. Just when things might seem the darkest, the light of Christ might erupt with brilliance and power.

We must seek to get the biblical balance: neither denying that God can do miracles, even today, nor insisting that we can snap our fingers and get God to show up with the fireworks, whenever we want.

That the miraculous is real is a given for Christians, since we know that God exists, and that He interacts with our world. But the question that needs to be addressed here is this: Can some believers over-rely on signs and wonders at times?

One cannot accuse Scripture of whitewashing things, or just painting a rosy picture about life. It presents things as they really are, warts and all. And that includes God’s people who get depressed, discouraged and question whether God is even there.
