A Call to Prayer for Ukraine and the SA Election
The Canberra Declaration has issued a call to prayer for today, the 16th of March. We are praying for an end to the conflict in Ukraine and God’s divine mercy over this weekend’s SA election.
The situation in Ukraine deserves our ongoing prayers. Few expected that 2022 would begin with us praying against World War III, and yet this is the situation in which we find ourselves. This is why we are inviting you to join us in prayer tonight at 8pm (AEDT) at this Zoom link.
A Call to Prayer for Ukraine
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is unquestionably wrong. It is our prayer and hope that with enough support and as little bloodshed as possible, Ukraine will emerge victorious and retain their sovereignty as a nation.
At the same time, Ukraine is far from a squeaky-clean nation. Corruption and crackdowns on freedom have been rife in Ukraine for years. Moreover, Western meddling in the Ukraine and the West’s moral weakness are among the reasons the world now finds itself on the precipice of nuclear conflict. Nothing excuses Vladimir Putin’s attack on the Ukrainian people, but to pray intelligently, we must understand the complexity of the situation.
In the end, sadly it is governments that wage war, while civilians on both sides suffer. This is why we are praying for both the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia. We want to see an end to the invasion, no global conflict, repentance from Putin and his regime, and an independent and free Ukraine.
The Daily Declaration has been a hub for information and prayer resources on the Russia-Ukraine war over recent weeks, so follow the links above to learn more about how you can be praying for the situation.
We note that Cindy Jacobs has issued a call to prayer concerning the Russian invasion of Ukraine for today (16th March), which happens to be the feast of Purim. Purim celebrates God’s miraculous answer to prayer in the book of Esther, when the nation of Israel experienced a miraculous turnaround in response to fasting and prayer.
A Call to Prayer for the SA Election
The other issue we invite you to pray about is the South Australian election, taking place this Saturday 19th March. Many South Australians feel betrayed by politicians who voted for anti-life bills to save face with their colleagues rather than represent the public. This weekend’s election presents South Australians with a crucial opportunity to send their parliament the message that all life is precious.
If you are from SA or have friends and family who share your love for life and religious freedom, please pass on to them Love Adelaide’s fantastic ‘How to Vote for Life’ resource. In this resource, Love Adelaide has provided information for every seat in the state based on how candidates would treat life issues once elected.
We are all South Australians this Saturday. So we urge you to please be praying for this weekend’s election. What happens in one state can inevitably direct the course of the nation — whether for good or ill. We need to see our nation turned back to life, family, faith, freedom and truth.
We ask you to join us in prayer for these two subjects — both Ukraine and the SA Election — tonight at 8pm (AEDT) on this Zoom link. Should you be unable to come tonight, we encourage you to still set aside time to pray over the next few days for both Ukraine and the SA Election, that God will have his way. We hope to see you tonight!
