Feigning Ignorance: Hanson’s Critics Play Dumb on Monoculturalism

Pauline Hanson’s critics would rather play dumb than debate multiculturalism’s failures and her solution of monoculturalism.

Have you ever noticed how often left-wing politicians pretend not to understand the most obvious things?

That habit has been in overdrive ever since Pauline Hanson told the Press Club that multiculturalism wasn’t working.

“We are a multiracial society, but we must be monocultural. Australians must live under the one cultural umbrella.”

I was in the room.

What the One Nation leader meant was so obvious that only a Leftie could miss it.

Hanson’s Clear Claims on Monoculturalism

Pauline Hanson meant that Australia was rapidly becoming a nation of tribes who had nothing — not even the English language — in common.

We can’t even agree on a flag.

Hanson didn’t quote Jesus, but she may as well have.

“A house divided against itself cannot sand.”

It’s not a difficult concept to comprehend.

But oh how the Left have struggled to understand what Hanson meant.

Playing Dumb

Take former Labor heavyweight Craig Emerson, for example. Yesterday he tweeted…

“Neither the Coalition nor One Nation supports multiculturalism, which has enjoyed bipartisan support for decades.

“Does this mean Buddhists and Hindus would have to renounce Buddhism and Hinduism if they want to migrate to Australia? And permanent residents?

“Please explain.”

Imagine calling yourself “doctor” and spewing this nonsense.

Either Emerson is a complete moron, or he’s having a lend of us.

And tempting as it is to believe the former, trust me, it’s the latter…

Or what about Labor MP Anne Aly, who warned that Pauline Hanson’s monoculture would prevent Italian grandmothers from speaking to to their grandchildren in Italian. A line that, unbelievably, the Coalition’s shadow foreign minister Ted O’Brien repeated!

I don’t care what Tony Abbott says, the Coalition are cooked. But more on that in a moment.

Australia’s former diplomat to West Africa Andrew Gregory, a prize-winning Leftie, videoed himself conducting an audit of his pantry — declaring that most items therein would be banned under a One Nation government.

He wasn’t sure if Vegemite would be allowed. Yes it was Australian, but it was also “black”.

Honestly, what a race-baiting fool.

And then there was the Prime Minister who suggested that there would be no Socceroos under Pauline Hanson’s policy of monoculturalism.

There are a dozen more examples of Lefties feigning mental retardation in the face of Hanson’s comments, but you get the idea.

Why do they do it?

Let me give you three reasons.

Why?

First, pretending not to understand Hanson’s critique of our culture and what’s necessary to fix it means the Left do not have to engage with it.

Batting away the failures of multiculturalism with stupid questions is much easier than having a serious debate or any debate at all.

Second, asking stupid questions and making ridiculous assertions about what Hanson said dares Hanson and her supporters to chase Leftie rabbits down Leftie rabbit holes where the Left know those foolish enough to chase will disappear into absurdity forever.

And finally, the left pretend stupidity because they honestly believe the public to be stupid.

Anne Aly genuinely thinks Italian Australians are so dumb that they’ll believe her when she says Hanson will ban Italians from speaking Italian.

Anthony Albanese honestly thinks Australians are such simpletons that they’ll believe him when he says that without multiculturalism we wouldn’t have a national soccer team.

Andrew Gregory thinks the public are morons who can’t see past the food in their cupboard.

It makes sense right? The Left hate Australia so why wouldn’t they hate Australians?

Coalition Unclear

Meanwhile, Coalition leader Angus Taylor was having difficulty explaining what his position was.

He told journalises yesterday that he supported “a version of multiculturalism” but not the sort that allowed “ISIS culture” into Australia.

And that is why he’s failing to cut through with voters.

A version of multiculturalism? Which version?

The version that doesn’t embrace “ISIS culture”? What is ISIS culture? Does he mean radicalised Muslims?

Of course he does. So why doesn’t he say it?

Is it because the next question will be how to discern radicalised Muslims from yet to be radicalised Muslims? And that’s a question he’s too afraid to address?

Pauline Hanson rejects multiculturalism in favour of a multi-racial monoculture. Discuss.

But no-one will.

Angus Taylor rejects multiculturalism in favour of a version of multiculturalism that doesn’t favour ISIS culture. Discuss.

But no-one can. Because it’s so vague and deliberately obtuse that it’s purposely meaningless.

Before I go, let me comment quickly on the Coalition’s messaging.

Taylor began…

“If the vote sprays, Labor stays. And if Labor stays, you pay.”

Not exactly Fire the Liar is it.

Then he started saying…

“Immigration numbers are too high and immigration standards are too low.”

That’s not a bad line, but as is so typical of the Coalition, he got bored of it after two days and moved on.

Earlier this week he was saying …

“Drop the flop.”

It was in response to Albo’s flip-flopping on changes to Capital Gains Tax.

But if you didn’t know that’s what it was about… you might have assumed it referred to, oh I don’t know, soccer players staging for free kicks?

Every Coalition line sounds like it’s been concocted by a work experience student and is being workshopped in public.

And every line is consigned to the dustbin five minutes after use.

Meanwhile, One Nation have parked their “Fire the Liar” billboards outside Parliament House.

Little wonder One Nation continues to ascend in the polls as Liberal Party President Tony Abbott desperately works the phones trying to convince members not to defect.
