Never Again Is Now (NAIN) – Adelaide Rally Against Anti-Semitism
Adelaide saw around 650 Christians (also some other valued people) and Jews gather on the steps of Parliament House on Sunday, 3 March, to stand together against anti-Semitism at a NAIN rally. With a great list of speakers, including Senator Simon Birmingham, Former State Premier, Revd Dr Lynn Arnold, and Freya Leach, daughter of Rev. Mark Leach, the founder of NAIN.

The rally was well-reported in the Adelaide Advertiser newspaper (Monday, 4 March 2023).
The pro-Palestinian (PP) woke mob (around 100) was there shouting and attempting to stifle the positive message being proclaimed by NAIN. They were screaming and chanting hate-filled slogans while the speakers were speaking of love and against hatred.

Freya Leach, co-founder of Never Again Is Now (NAIN), the grassroots Christian movement that organised the rally for the Jewish community, said the counter-protest was disheartening. “I’m really flabbergasted that a protest for peace and tolerance and respect could be counter-protested,” said Freya, who flew from Sydney for the peace rally.
“Since October 7 (when Hamas militants invaded Israel), we’ve seen a 738 per cent increase in anti-Semitism – that’s anti-Jewish hate and racism. When we’re seeing it happening to the Jewish people, we have to stand up and say, ‘That’s not OK’.”
Ms Leach said that their rally was about “tolerance and peace” and showing support for the Jewish community in Australia.
The Coalition’s shadow minister for foreign affairs, Senator Simon Birmingham, who spoke at the NAIN rally, also forcefully condemned anti-Semitism, as did former state Premier Rev. Dr Lynn Arnold.
We, as people of faith, must act to stop the calls for the death of all Jews, which is in the Hamas and other terror groups’ charters. “From the River to the Sea” is well understood to mean a call for the annihilation of all Jews and the nation of Israel; hence, our call for Never Again Is Now in reference to the Holocaust.
The very supportive crowd were from a broad spectrum of different expressions of Christianity in Adelaide. All united in a single message of hope and love for the Jewish community in Australia. As the MC for the rally and on behalf of the organising team, I was very grateful to all who attended in the face of hatred. Thank you all!
I was able to stand with Rabbi Shoshana Kaminsky, Beit Shalom (House of Peace) Synagogue, as vitriolic hateful abuse was hurled at her from the PP mob. Sadly, the SA Police did not push the PP mob further back, but overall kept the groups separated.
Many in the Australian Jewish community, only 100,000 people across the country, feel isolated, attacked, and fearful. It is very important for us to make a stand. We think this is unacceptable and want to stand with our Jewish friends and neighbours in this time of crisis.

Kym, so thrilled for your event Sunday. So encouraged with the continued push of NAIN. I was upset to ‘hear’ that you had such a hostile counter protest. I pray that this will be a wake up call to Christians right across this land that every one of us is needed. We can’t leave NAIN to the few, we must get behind this cause!

Thank you Kym for such a great write up of the event and all the work and organization that went into it and for being MC. It was wonderful to hear of those Jewish people who felt the love and solidarity from Christians and others there. Thanks also for sharing the video so we could see know how the Jewish people were supported but also so we could understand the depth of opposition all around from the protestors. I thank God it remained safe for all but pray we can introduce new laws in each state as soon as possible, to enable police to be allowed to escort protestors away from the main event so there is no verbal disruption.
