Hulk Hogan, Christian & Wrestling Icon, Passes Away at 71 After Cardiac Arrest
Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan stepped into glory after a cardiac arrest on Thursday, July 24.
Paramedics tried to revive the 71-year-old at his Florida home following a 9:51 AM callout.
Reports from TMZ, who broke the news, said he died at the hospital, and added that he’d been wrestling with health issues.
For Generation X, Hulk Hogan, real name Terry Gene Bollea, was America.
Next to Van Halen, the “Hulkster” helped invent pop culture.
Hulk Hogan: Unashamed American and Christian
Like the Reagan era, he was larger-than-life, strong, loud, patriotic, laser-focused, and passionate.
If any celebrity persona ever took James Brown’s Living in America from song to centre stage, it was Hogan.
He didn’t just support Make America Great Again later in life.
He genuinely lived it.

This giant was a walking advertisement for MAGA, long before another 80s icon, Donald Trump, ever even considered campaigning on it.
Hogan was as unashamed of being American as he was about being a Christian.
He knew that even strong men need a strong saviour.
Post after post, affirmation after affirmation, his social media use is complemented by thoughts directed straight at God.
Especially on X.
During Easter, April 10 2023, Hogan flanked artwork of the empty tomb with the words,
“I accepted Christ as my saviour at 14 years old.”
“The training, prayers and vitamins kept me in the game, but now that I am one with God, the main event theme of surrender, service, and love makes me.”
“The Real Main Event,” Hogan said, “[is] that [I] can slam any giant of any size through the power of my Lord.”
Responding to a comment in 2012, Hogan testified,
“I accepted Christ when I was 14 years old, but I didn’t live 24 hours a day like a Christian until a few years ago.”
He was baptised in December 2023.
Sharing tear-jerking images and a video of his baptism, Hogan wrote,
“Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life. No worries, no hate, no judgment… only love!”

Tributes Flow In
Confirming news of his passing, Hogan’s family said in a statement on Instagram,
“We have lost a legend. He will be missed, but never forgotten.”
An outpouring of condolences soon followed.
Flooding social media, people from all corners of the Western world expressed a mixture of grief and gratitude.
President Donald Trump, calling the “Hulkster” a great friend, said,
“Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart.”
“The cultural impact he had was massive. He will be greatly missed.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson paid tribute with a personal story about Hogan’s dedication from when he was 12 years old.
World Wrestling Entertainment acknowledged how the superstar “helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.”
They then saluted Hogan, asserting, “We would not be standing here today together if it were not for him.”

Wrestling opponent Ric Flair expressed shock, stating, Hogan “was always there for me, even when I didn’t ask for him to be.”
He “was one of the first to visit me when I was in the hospital with a 2% chance of living, and he prayed by my bedside.”
“No one,” Flair further stated, “will ever compare to him. Rest in peace.”
Anti-Hogan Hate
Not everyone was sympathetic.
Never-Trumpers, such as Leftwing activist and Alachua County State school board chair Dr. Sarah Rockwell, seemed to typify the hate.
Reacting to Hogan’s death, the pro-LGBTQ+ Florida “educator” – who apparently did not know nor ever meet Hogan – allegedly asserted,
“Good. One less MAGA in the world.”
“He’s never been a good guy. I feel absolutely nothing about his death.”
The crazy thing about this?
If Hogan “self-identified” as LGBTQ+, Dr. Rockwell would be fawning all over his grave.
Hogan was a Christian, so of course, this “educator” is spitting on it instead.
As documented above, everyone posting about their memories of him is contradicting everything this cold, “love is love” bigot is preaching.
‘My Heart Is in Pieces’: Sky Hogan
In contrast, “Hulkster’s” wife, Sky Hogan, speaking from her heart, put out a statement, saying,
“I wasn’t ready… and my heart is in pieces.”
“He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. This loss is sudden and impossible to process.”
“Hulk loved his fans so much.”
She further explained,
“Despite his growing physical discomfort, he did everything he could to show up, sign autographs, take photos, and connect with the people who supported him through it all. You meant everything to him.”
To this Sky added,
“He was a believer in Christ, and I take comfort knowing his soul is at peace and he’s been welcomed home.”
“Please keep his family and all of us who loved him in your prayers as we try to navigate this new reality.”

Perhaps the greatest “goodbye for now” benediction comes from the great man himself?
In September 2017, he wrote:
“As crazy as it sounds in all the turbulence, I finally feel alive again.”
“In Jesus’ name I pray, thank you, God. Totally surrendered. Totally safe. – HH.”
And everybody said, Amen!
