Australia desperately needs to see Christ in blazing majesty as John did in Revelation 1. Jesus has conquered death. He is the living one, present with his Church, and his reign is unshakable.

The Church must ready herself as a pure bride for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, who desires to present the Church to himself “in splendour without spot or wrinkle”.

We can be confident that in Spirit-led prayer, we are connected to our gracious God who sees the beginning from the end. And that means we can live and pray as people of hope.

God's mission has always been in the hands of 'ordinary' people, not professionals. As Peter and John found boldness to speak to people from being in Jesus' presence, so can we.

Forgiveness is powerful. It frees us from burdens too heavy to bear, entrusting justice to God. And as we forgive and release, we'll see God make our service abundantly fruitful.

We might avoid conflict by withholding truth, and according to the world, this could even be seen as ‘love’. But we would be failing to love scripturally, and therefore failing to truly love at all. The Church must “speak the truth in love".

For the Church to walk in its inheritance today, we must hear this call: Be strong. Be courageous. Reject fear. Fear keeps us tied to yesterday and hesitant about tomorrow.

Christian truths are the foundation of much that we cherish in the modern world. We must pray for the revival of Christianity that will save individuals and also renew our culture and guide our future.

Consider a football match where the team is down, but then comes halftime – a moment to regroup, listen to the coach, and reset the strategy. It’s the turning point. We are in a “halftime” moment. We must turn aside, listen to God, and whatever he says to you – do it.

Many are rising above the noise of this corrupt world and speaking boldly for Christ. God calls us all to prayer, repentance, and to use the voice he has given us to proclaim the good news to this sinful nation.

God’s priority is his Church. The Church is his Son’s bride, and not only that, but the hope of the world. That is why we are praying and fasting for the Church in October.

It's an incredible time to be alive. On the back of this current church resurgence, the Canberra Declaration is praying and fasting this October for the Church to thrive and grow and for the release of the gospel across Australia.
