DAY 15: Fight the Good Fight of Faith

12 May 2019

3.3 MINS

by Ps Tim Edwards, Australian Indigenous Christian Leader

Intention
To fight the good fight of faith until we see the fulfilment of God’s promises over Australia.

Scripture

Be on guard; stand firm in your faith [in God, respecting His precepts and keeping your doctrine sound]. Act like [mature] men and be courageous; be strong.
—1 Corinthians 16:13

Reflection
We may say our nation is on a knife’s edge right now. It’s not only about the election—it’s also about our faith. What do we believe in?

The apostle Paul knew what he was talking about when he said to fight the good fight of faith because in his days, he was constantly confronted by the rulers of his time in regard to his faith.

In our nation right now there have been changes that are creating controversy around the Word of God, which is the foundation for our faith. We are encouraged to be on our guard and stand firm in our faith—especially our faith in God and our duty to obey His precepts. The onus is on us, as it says in Corinthians, to be keeping His doctrines and holding to our convictions.

There is no doubt that as Christians we are in spiritual warfare. But in addition to this, we are called God’s Army and we are encouraged to be courageous and strong as God’s representatives, not forsaking our call in the kingdom of God.

As a nation, we need to remember what has been prophesied over Australia from years gone by, and fight the good fight of faith as spoken in the Scriptures:

“Timothy [or we can say Australia], my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.”
—1 Timothy 1:18-19

To my Christian family in Australia, there have been many prophecies spoken over this Great Southland of the Holy Spirit, and we need to fight the good fight and also have a good conscience, holding onto the faith which we believed, not turning to the right or left, but remaining faithful to the calling of God for our nation.

I believe it is great to have prophecy spoken over our nation, but it is much greater when there is fulfilment of those prophecies.

So Australian Christians, stand and fight the good fight, for “righteousness exalts our nation”. And when we have done all to stand, stand firm.

Prayer
Father, we join with the writer of Psalm 122 and say “I lift up my eyes toward the mountains, from where will my help come? My help is from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.” So this election, as we pray and war in the heavens, help us not make it a dirty fight but help us to fight the good fight of faith with a clear conscience and wholesome heart. We lift up Your standards O Lord in our nation, and we believe in Your promises for our nation, because You are faithful and true. Amen.

Watch: Break Every Chain

Election Prayer Points
1. Pray that God would rule over this election – that righteous leaders would be elected to govern this nation in truth and justice because, “When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice”. Proverbs 29:2

3. Pray for a multiplication of prayer and unity across the Body of Christ in Australia that people will wake up to the dangers facing our nation and respond in prayer. Ephesians 5:14

May we all want to be obedient to our wonderful Lord who has give us the best way to live through His word the Bible. He has asked us to love Him and obey Him. As has been said: the Bible is the best book to read, and has the answers.
May we stand firmly for Jesus and our Heavenly Father.

A good strong message, to stand up and stand strong for God’s Word, God’s Truths, God’s Ways…. They are always the best and never need updating. Glory, Praise, Honour and Thanks be to our Heavenly Father, Almighty God (Father, Son Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit) forever and always. Amen

As in America, Australia Christianity remains on knifes edge. Is this Gods will? I think in these end times that we will all be tested and I know in my heart through prayer that Australia, like America, will come through in the Christ. Your friends in the USA join you in prayer to raise God above all else so that your Country will know of His never ending love and forgiveness for every human being!
