Pro-Life Prayer Day 2: The Messiah’s Triumph and Kingdom

16 July 2020

3.5 MINS

Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break their bonds in pieces
And cast away their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.”
~ Psalm 2:1-6 (NKJV)

We could ask a similar question: why does the government plot a vain thing to shut down prayer and access to speak with distressed individuals near places where decisions are being made to destroy the lives of unborn Australians?

Why are they legislating against a problem (exclusion zones) that simply does not exist? There has never been any harassment at a place where abortions are performed in South Australia — ever!

When speaking to our politicians we need to ask them, why?
And listen to them and keep asking them, why?

Why, during the COVID-19 crisis, were politicians on the radio speaking about providing telehealth medical abortions for women as a major health need, while the threat of thousands dying from COVID-19 was on everyone else’s minds. We thank God for everyone who took action to reveal this is not what South Australians wanted or needed — in fact, it was dangerous to women’s health.

We should be asking, why is so much time and taxpayers’ money being spent on Abortion Reform Bills that are pushing legalised abortion to birth, resulting in the killing of viable children?

Why change abortion laws out of the Criminal Code into “Health Care”, when no woman has ever been convicted for having an abortion under current laws? Will decriminalisation open up the possibility of no litigation for abortions performed anywhere by anyone?

Who is caring for the 4349 aborted South Australians — where is their ‘healthcare’?
The latest statistics from 2017 of late-term abortions after 20 weeks were 111, and only 3 were aborted for a specific medical condition.

There has been a lot of ‘raging’ against the ways of the Lord to break His bonds and cords from our modern society. They don’t know they rage against the One who gave them life, and they think it is freedom — but it is the total opposite. It becomes an open door to devastation, distress and heartache.

Many walk blindly into an abortion clinic not knowing they are partnering with death and destruction until it’s too late — then the horror and regret plague them relentlessly. Forgiveness is freely given, but they really battle to find rest for their own souls.

Why is the government so insistent on keeping prayer and Christians away from those who need wise counsel and a compassionate escape route? No-one offering help to those seeking abortion are coercing or shaming them, as the general population are led to believe. People going in for an abortion still have their choice, but they should know they have many choices besides termination.

Let us pray to our Heavenly Father:

  • For people to approach their MPs in the SA Lower House with grace — to speak up and ask these questions: why are we legislating based on fear of something that doesn’t exist?
  • For those in our nation raging and taking counsel together against the Lord and His Anointed, to stop and come into a revelation of the consequences of their actions.
  • We declare Your word, Lord, in Psalm 2:10-12 NKJV:
    Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
    Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
    Serve the
    Lord with fear,
    And rejoice with trembling.
    Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
    And you perish in the way,
    When His wrath is kindled but a little.
    Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
  • Lord, we ask for Your Kingdom to come and Your will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
    Lord, we ask that our Government be wise and instructed by Your Spirit, and to serve You with fear, and rejoice with trembling. We say blessed are those who put their trust in You. We ask for mercy and favour to have freedom from this Health Care (“Safe Access”) Amendment Bill 2020, freedom of speech and prayer, and to offer help to those who need it. In Jesus’, Yeshua’s Powerful and Precious Name, Amen.

** On Wednesday, 22 July 2020, the SA Lower House will debate and possibly vote on the Health Care (Safe Access) Amendment Bill 2020.
The Bill will establish 70,000-square-metre zones in at least 12 areas (possibly more) in South Australia, where it will be against the law to communicate about abortion in a way that can be seen and heard by those entering or leaving a place where abortions are carried out.

As it stands, this Bill will:

  • ban silent prayer;
  • stop those who want to offer pregnancy support to women who do not want to have an abortion, but do so as they feel they have no alternative;
  • affect the freedom to communicate publicly about abortion in large areas of SA.

Proposed Amendments (vital to maintain for SA if the Bill were to pass)
Write to MPs asking them to not support the Bill in its current form, and to vote for key amendments such as allowing silent prayer, offers of help, and preserving the rights of organisations which were in zones before they commenced operation.
More details for taking action can be found on the ACL website.
