Say No To Vaccination Passports: Two Petitions To Sign

Yes, there is a lot of misinformation circulating online about the COVID-19 vaccines. But the question of vaccination passports is another issue entirely. It’s possible to be very confident in the COVID-19 vaccines while still being strongly opposed to governments making them mandatory for travel, work and civil life. Here, we draw your attention to two petitions you can sign to say no to mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations.
Vaccine Passports: No Way
The first is Canberra Declaration’s own petition, entitled Vaccine Passports: No Way. We created this due to the overwhelming response to this article and to the now-closed Petition EN2626. The new Canberra Declaration petition reads:
A civilised and democratic nation like Australia must not compel its own people to undertake a medical procedure, or divulge private medical data, just to maintain their longstanding freedoms. Travelling domestically, returning from overseas, and accessing jobs, services, sports and social events must not be made contingent on a vaccine passport.
The sanctity of life and the freedom of conscience are non-negotiable human rights. If we abandon these, the social fabric of Australian society will be seriously weakened, to our personal and collective detriment.
We insist on the right of all Australians to be protected from government and private incursions on our sacred rights. We speak up in defence of freedom. We say no to vaccine passports. And we call on all like-minded citizens to support and sign this petition.

George Christensen: No Vaccine Passports
The second is by George Christensen MP, the Federal Member for Dawson in Queensland, and it is called ‘No Vaccine Passports’. On his website, Christensen explains that,
Private Australian companies, state governments, other nations and international bodies are indicating they will introduce coercive measures to essentially force people to take a COVID-19 vaccine…
I will be railing against any attempt to have any vaccination passports, digital passports — whatever the label — that segregates Australians into haves and have nots and denies them jobs, denies them services, or denies them access to certain areas.
It is wrong. It is discriminatory…
There is going to be immense pressure on Australia and many other nations to comply and go down this route of vaccine passports, but we should push back for the sake of freedom.

Civic freedoms are a core value of the Canberra Declaration. And while we invite open debate on the benefits of the various COVID-19 vaccines, we believe that it is not the role of the governments or private corporations to coerce citizens into undertaking medical treatments or divulge private medical information to third parties.

Hi Everyone,
I’m in my 70’s and remember having to get smallpox vaccination to be allowed to go overseas. Everyone had to, if they wanted to go overseas. Please help me understand why you all seem to be taking this as if it’s some kind of attempt to take our ‘freedoms’ away from us. I’m going to have my first AstraZeneca jab next week, and my reason is mainly for the sake of others, which I thought was the Christian way – to think more of the well-being of others than of myself. Also, we do need to be sensible about the national economy, which is definitely important for the well-being of all of us, and particularly the poor and underprivileged in our nation who rely on our taxes for Community Welfare programmes. So far our economy is going quite well, but we do need to get our overseas students back, as well as tourists. This isn’t going to be possible if we all reject being vaccinated.
When Christians cry out about freedom of choice I begin to wonder if we haven’t actually lost the plot entirely. Isn’t that what the pro-abortionists cry? And those who support Euthenasia? “It’s my body, my choice!”
I don’t want my body to be the cause of another person’s sickness or death. Freedom of choice isn’t in my opinion a very Christian ideology. It seems a tad selfish.
Hi Caroline, I can hear that you are keen to live out your faith. I too trust in Almighty God. What I do not trust in is worldly government. Bodily autonomy – ie “the right to governance over our own bodies” is the hallmark of any democracy. Vaccine hesitancy can be for many reasons. For myself, I have ethical and medical concerns over them. I also think that the reported efficacy rate is poor for the risks. Survival rate post Covid is something I’m happy to take my chances with. If the vaccines work, the vaccinated should not fear those who aren’t. I believe that there is a sinister agenda behind the virus, vaccination programs and control of people under the guise of the “emergency”. I am sure if you commit to a little research on this, you too will be alarmed.
Ask yourself how many people die daily anywhere anyway?

Why was there such a push for vaccination and not treatments?

The fear campaign that exists with this entire situation is outrageous. We are daily assaulted with case numbers, restrictions, etc. like there is nothing else happening in the world. Personally, the scariest thing about any of it is how fast our freedoms are being eroded. T

We live with the consequences of our choices but we all have the freedom to choose. Freedom of choice is absolutely a Christian ideology. It’s not selfish, it’s loving.
This argument cannot be lumped with abortion or euthanasia as in the case of abortion, there’s another life at stake there, so I do not act for my body alone. A baby is killed. In the case of euthanasia, this is a government agreement to suicide. Everyone is free to suicide but Godly government shouldn’t assist with this. So vaccination cannot stand with these arguments and trying to put them there just clouds the issue.
Smallpox was discovered in the 1700’s & a vaccines was rolled in in the 1970’s.
So for centuries people lived with that virus, & it took more than 200 years to eradicate the disease. Plus death rate for small pox was 30%. The death rate for Covid is 0.4%.
There is no comparison.
I completely agree with Caroline above. Cries of “freedom” from earlier correspondents are ridiculous. You need a certificate to be able to build a house, another one to teach in an Australian school, and a Blue Card to work with children, as well as numerous other sensible requirements. This country has laws that regulate many, many things. You don’t have to be vaccinated of course – that is your freedom to refuse or comply. However, I don’t want my elderly parents cared for by unvaccinated staff, and I don’t want my grandchildren to be taught by unregistered teachers. St Paul urged the Romans (in Chapter 13) to be subject to a terrible government that God had “instituted”. You give Christians a bad name by these crazy objections to sensible rules and regulations for good order, health and welfare. May Australia continue to flourish, may our poor be cared for, and may we be able to travel internationally when the majority of the world is vaccinated.
